    TAM AdEx: Rewinding 2023 for advertising in music genre

    Mumbai: TAM AdEx India has released a report on television medium – reminiscing 2023 for advertising in music genre.

    Trends: Ad volumes/channel in music genre: 46 per cent rise in 2023 compared to 2019

    Ad volumes for movie genre per channel witnessed growth during 2021 and 2022 with 37 per cent and 42 per cent share compared to 2019. Whereas, 2023 observed growth in ad volumes by three per cent over 2022 for movie genre. Compared to Q’4 of 2023, there was growth in ad volumes of 17 per cent in Q’2 of 2023.

    Share of music genre in overall TV advertising: 2019-23

    Over the past five years, the music genre constituted a share of ad volumes ranging from 11 per cent to 13 per cent.

    Top five sub-genres of music genre

    Tamil and Punjabi Music sub-genre maintained their ranks in 2023 over 2022, with Tamil having 18 per cent share of ad volumes and Punjabi 13 per cent share in 2023. Together, the top five music sub-genres accounted for 55 per cent share of ad volumes in 2023.

    Leading sectors: Top 10 sectors added 95 per cent ad volume share for ‘music’ advertising

    In 2023, the F&B sector emerged as the top contributor to ad volumes within the music genre, accounting for a 26 per cent share. During 2023, the top eight sectors retained their respective positions compared to 2022.

    Leading categories: Toilet soaps (nine per cent) led the music genre’s category in 2023

    During 2023, the top 10 categories had a collective share of 42 per cent with Toilet Soaps leading the list. Tea entered the top 10 list of categories in 2023 with three per cent share of ad volumes compared to 2022. Out of the top 10 categories present in 2023, five of them belonged to Food & Beverages Sector.

    Top growing categories: 100 plus categories registered positive growth

    Toilet soaps saw the highest increase in ad seconds (55 per cent), while eye make up topped in terms of growth percent with eight times growth during 2023 compared to 2022 in music genre.

    Leading advertisers: 2023 – 760 plus players were present in the music genre

    Top 10 advertisers contributed 70 per cent share of music genre’s ad volumes. Reckitt Benckiser and HUL retained their first and second positions during 2023 with 24 per cent and 21 per cent share of ad volumes. ITC was the only new entrant during 2023 compared to 2022.

    Exclusive^ advertisers present in music genre: Y 2023

    Over 45 advertisers publicised exclusively in music genre during 2023. Juniors Fashion Week was the top exclusive^ advertiser in Music Genre followed by Jay EII Healthcare.

    Leading exclusive advertisers: 2023

    Over 295 advertisers exclusively publicized during 2023 in the music genre. In the year 2023, Bacardi Martini India emerged as the leading exclusive advertiser over 2022.

    Leading brands of 2023: Over 1,980 brands were present in music genre during 2023

    The top 10 brands contributed 17 per cent share of music ad volumes. Dettol Antiseptic Liquid secured the first position with three per cent share of ad volumes in 2023. The top five brands retained their respective positions during 2023 over 2022. Veet Pure, Santoor Sandal, and Turmeric & Surf Excel Easy Wash were new entrants in 2023 compared to 2022. Mortein Smart Plus was an exclusive brand that entered the top 10 list and secured ninth position in 2023 over 2022.

    Advertising share by time bands in music genre

    Prime time garnered highest share of ad volumes of 32 per cent followed by afternoon with 27 per cent in 2023. Primetime, afternoon & morning time bands together added 74 per cent share of music genre ad volumes.

    Ad size in the music genre: 2023 and 2022

    Ad size of 20-40 seconds was majorly preferred by advertisers in both 2023 and 2022 with 72 per cent and 69 per cent share of ad volumes respectively.

    NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 1 August to 7 August 2020.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in week 31 of 2020.

    Top advertisers:

    Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest advertiser this week it got 193880 impressions. It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser which ranked second with 179494 ad impressions.

    ITC Ltd bagged the third spot with 38628 insertions. Amazon Online India Pvt Ltd and Wipro Ltd secured the fourth and fifth place with 33982 and 33781 ad insertions respectively.

    Cadbury India Ltd bagged the sixth spot with 33732 ad insertions.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd, Colgate Palmolive India, Marico Ltd, and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.

    Dettol Antiseptic Liquid for the first time became the top brand this week with 29000 ad insertions. Dettol Toilet Soaps like last week came in the second position with 27698  ad insertions. PolicyBazaar bagged the third spot with 16209 ad impressions.  

    The fourth and the fifth spots were acquired by Surf Excel easy wash and Amazon.in with 14039 and 13588 ad insertions respectively.

    The sixth position was grabbed by Santoor Sandal and Turmeric or the first time in the last so many weeks with12586 ad insertions.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Lux Toilet Soaps, Dettol & Moms Soap, Horlicks and Amazon Prime.

    NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 18 July to 24 July 2020.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in the 29th week of 2020.

    Top advertisers:

    Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest advertiser in the month of July. This week it has got 283326 impressions, as compared to 266697 last week. It was followed by Reckitt Benckiser which ranked second with 131750 ad insertions.

    Godrej Consumers Products bagged the third spot with 39611 insertions. ITC Ltd and Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd secured the fourth and fifth place with 39536 and 39433 ad insertions respectively.

    Colgate Palmolive India after many weeks bagged the sixth spot for the first time with 33942 ad insertions.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Procter & Gamble, Cadbury India, Ponds India, and Procter & Gamble home products.

    Surf Excel for the first time in this month became the top brand this week with 19338 ad insertions. Dettol Antiseptic Liquid which bagged the first spot last week, this time came in the second position with 18342 ad insertions. Lux Toilet Soap reached the third spot, like last week, with 15830 ad impressions.  

    The fourth and the fifth spots were acquired by Wheel Active 2 in 1 Dettol Toilet Soaps with 14876 and 14043. The sixth position was grabbed by Dettol Liquid Soaps with 13781 ad generations.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Tease TVS Motor, Colgate Swarna Vedshakti, Horlicks and Fair & Lovely Multivitamin.

    NEW DELHI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 11 July to 17 July 2020.

    The data reflects the top 10 advertisers and brands across genres on India television, 2+ Individuals, NCCS All demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in the 28th week of 2020.

    Top advertisers:

    Hindustan Unilever continued to be the biggest advertiser with 266697 insertions, followed by Reckitt Benckiser which ranked second with 123891 ad insertions.

    Godrej Consumers Products bagged the third spot with 47783 insertions. ITC Ltd and Brooke Bond Lipton India Ltd secured the fourth and fifth place with 39701 and 37485 ad insertions respectively.

    Procter & Gamble acquired the sixth spot with 37224 ad insertions on TV.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Cadbury India, Colgate Palmolive, Procter & Gamble home products, Ponds India.

    Lux Toilet Soap which was continuing to lead the list for the last few weeks, this time reached the third spot with 15555 insertions, as compared to last week's 17,523 impressions.

    The fourth and the fifth spot was acquired by Surf Excel and Dettol Toilet Soaps with 13153 and 12806 as insertions respectively.

    Other top brands in the pecking order were as follows: Dettol Liquid Soaps, Horlicks, Wheel Active 2 in 1Fair & Lovely and WhatsApp.

    BARC week 41: Amazon, Flipkart’s festive season sales make them top two brands

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for top advertisers and brands for the period between 5 October 2019 and 11 October 2019.

    The data reflects top 10 advertiser and brands across genre on Indian television, including OOH screen, (U+R): 2+, Individuals NCCS All, demonstrating ads that were inserted the most in week 41 of 2019.

     Top Advertisers:

    There have been little changes in the BARC top advertisers’ list in week 40 as compared to the past week. Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd remained the top two performers with 156539 and 102356 ad insertions, respectively.

    Amazon Online India Pvt Ltd was replaced from the third position by Procter & Gamble, which ranked sixth the past week, with 44196 insertions.

    ITC Ltd climbed up a spot to rank fourth this time as it made 37308 insertions on TV. Godrej Consumer Products Ltd moved up five spots to rank fifth with 36026 insertions.

    Top Brands:

    Santoor Sandal and Turmeric climbed up two spots to claim the first rank in the top brands category of BARC week 41 rankings. It had inserted 17007 ads on TV during this period. Second spot was acquired by Trivago, which climbed up from last week’s fifth slot, with 14573 insertions.

    Lizol ranked up a spot to sit on third position with 12647 insertions. Dettol antiseptic liquid made fresh entry into the list on fourth position, with 10701 insertions. It was followed by Colgate Dental Cream that had 9662 insertions.
