    Shemaroo releases Oscar nominated Delhi Safari on home video

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has released Delhi Safari, a fun 3D animation film for kids, on DVDs and VCDs.

    Delhi Safari got shortlisted in Oscars in the Best Song list. Other than this, it won award for the Best Film in the animation category at Screen and Best Feature Film award at Ficci Frames 2012.

    Shemaroo said the DVDs of Delhi Safari are priced at Rs 199 and VCDs at Rs 99.

    The story of the film revolves around a handful of animals who set off on a journey to Delhi, the capital of India. As the concrete jungle of Mumbai rapidly eats into its forests, Sultan, the leader of the leopards, is killed. A motley crew of animals decide to do something about it. Bajrangi, the militant monkey, Bagga, the hugging bear, Begum, the protective leopardess and her cub Yuvi set off on a journey to Delhi to appeal to the government – but not before they kidnap Alex, the crazy parrot who can speak like a human being.

    What follows is a series of developments before they reach Delhi. And then the climax unfolds.

    21 animated films for Academy Awards consideration

    MUMBAI: Twenty-one animated features, put alphabetically from Adventures in Zambezia to Zarafa, have been submitted for the consideration if the Academy Awards.
    The submitted features, listed in alphabetical order by title, are:
    Adventures in Zambezia, Brave, Delhi Safari, Dr. Seuss‘ The Lorax, Frankenweenie, From Up on Poppy Hill, Hey Krishna, Hotel Transylvania, Ice Age Continental Drift, A Liar‘s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python‘s Graham Chapman, Madagascar 3: Europe‘s Most Wanted, The Mystical Laws, The Painting, ParaNorman, The Pirates! Band of Misfits,The Rabbi‘s Cat, Rise of the Guardians, Secret of the Wings, Walter & Tandoori‘s Christmas, Wreck-It Ralph and Zarafa.
    Under the rules of the Academy, since more than 16 films have been submitted, a maximum of five films may be nominated when nominees are announced on 10 January.
    This year‘s submissions include entries from major animation houses like Pixar‘s Brave, Disney‘s Frankenweenie and Wreck-It Ralph, DreamWorks Animation‘s Madagascar 3: Europe‘s Most Wanted and Rise of the Guardians, Fox/Blue Sky Studio‘s Ice Age: Continental Drift, Universal/Illumination‘s Dr. Seuss‘ The Lorax, Sony Animation‘s Hotel Translyvania and Focus/Laika‘s ParaNorman.
    The entries also include a bumper crop of indie and foreign-made animated efforts. Like Adventures in Zambezia, made in South Africa has birds that live near Africa‘s Victoria Falls as its characters. Zarafa is a French-made film about a young boy who escapes slave traders and befriends a giraffe.
    Several of the films listed have not yet had their required Los Angeles qualifying runs. Submitted features must fulfill the theatrical release requirements before they can advance in the voting process. Films submitted for animated feature may also qualify for Oscars in other categories, including best picture, provided they meet the requirements in those categories.
    The submissions will be reviewed by the Academy‘s animation branch to determine that they have met all the eligibility requirements and will be viewed by a screening committee or committees which will rate each film on a score of six to ten. Those movies rating an average score of 7.5 will be eligible for nomination.

    Delhi Safari dubbed in foreign languages

    MUMBAI: Nikhil Advani’s 3D animation film Delhi Safari has been dubbed in English, Chinese, Turkish, and Russian languages as it gears up for release in markets like North America, UK, China, Russia, and Turkey.

    Well-known Hollywood artistes like Jason Alexander, Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Jane Lynch, Vanessa Williams and Brad Garrett have dubbed for its English version.

    Krayon Pictures, the film’s producers, has decided to distribute it widely across the globe after encouraging response they received in film markets and festivals like the Marche du Film in Cannes, and Annecy Film Festival, regarded as one of the most prestigious animation film fests in the world.

    Delhi Safari won the Best Feature Film (theatrical) award at Ficci Frames 2012.

    Delhi Safari to hit the screens in February

    MUMBAI: Nikhil Advani‘s animation film, Delhi Safari, is all set to release in February. The film was earlier to release in September.


    The 3D film traces the journey of five animals who travel to Delhi to ask the Indian Parliament as to why man is hellbent on destroying their forests.


    While the Hindi version has voice overs by Govinda, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Boman Irani and Urmila Matondkar, the English version has voices of international actors like Jason Alexander, Carey Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Jane Lynch, Vanessa Williams and Brad Garret.


    The film has been co-produced by Mukesh Talreja and Kishore Patil.

    Release of Delhi Safari pushed back

    MUMBAI: In order to make their films seen widely, producers Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja are planning an extensive release of their animation film Delhi Safari. Initially planned to release in September, the film’s release has been shifted further for the film to have a global release.

    Talreja was overseas to work out the release strategy of the film internationally. Said Advani said, “Indeed, we are planning to release both the versions at one go and in this connection Mukesh has gone abroad to decide on the release strategy of the film.”

    Delhi Safari revolves around a group of five animals from Borivali National Park who make a journey to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister with an intention to plead that humans stop encroaching forests.

    This is for the second time that the film’s release has been pushed back. Earlier slated for release in August, the film was scheduled to release on 30 September.
