    Ola to ride as official cab partner for 4 Indian Super League teams

    MUMBAI: The personal transportation app Ola has jumped on board as the official cab partner of four teams playing in the on-going Indian Super League (ISL) namely Mumbai City FC, FC Pune City, Delhi Dynamos FC and Atlético de Kolkata. 

     

    Ola will also give away free VIP, VVIP and Hospitality passes for the games of these four teams on select days to Ola customers, straight from their app.

     

    Ola vice president Sudarshan Gangrade said, “Football is catching up as a major sport in the country with the formation of popular leagues like the ISL. The young and fast growing Ola user base has a large number of sporting enthusiasts and this is a wonderful opportunity for us to engage with them. With this partnership, Ola users not only gain instant access to their favourite ISL matches, but also to convenient and hassle free mobility options to reach the venue- all from the Ola app.”

     

    Atlético de Kolkata secretary Subrata Talukdar added, “We are delighted to partner with Ola. Ola’s partnership will go a long way in helping us reach out to millions of fans across the country as well as solve the mobility issue for everyone coming to see the matches. Parking and traffic hassles can be significantly minimized with fans now being able to use Ola for reaching the match venues.”

     

    In another sports associations earlier this year, Ola was the official cab partner for five Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 cricket teams namely Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab.

    MUMBAI: This April will see a football revolution sweep Delhi. Young and budding football players in the city born between 2002 – 2004 will get an opportunity to showcase their talent. The children will also get a chance to be a part of a skill enrichment workshop and larger opportunities. They will train alongside some of the best fresh talent across the country.

     

    Continuing its efforts in grassroots and youth football development, the Delhi Dynamos Football Club (DDFC), the national capital’s football team in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), launched the second leg of its grassroots programme in Delhi-NCR.

     

    DDFC aims to create sustainable opportunities for children (born in 2002, 2003 or 2004) in the region through open trials, starting 11 April, 2015.

     

    In 2014, the inaugural year of the Hero Indian Super League and the Delhi Dynamos FC, the Dynamos had initiated a grassroots football development programme in Delhi, ‘Junior Dynamos’, which became one of the largest ever Inter-School Football Tournament with a participation of over 2400 players from over 180 schools.

     

    The Dynamos are now stepping up their game by holding Delhi’s first ever open football trials to identify and nurture real footballing talent at a young age. DDFC hopes to refine these children’s game skills, enhance their technical knowledge and ultimately mould them into professional football players.

     

    The first of these open football trials will be held in Delhi on 11 April at the Ambedkar Stadium, and is open to all participants from the Delhi NCR area aged between 11 to 13 years. The participants will be given a chance to showcase their talents under the guidance of the Delhi Dynamos FC technical team. Talented children will be shortlisted to participate in the Reliance Foundation Young Champs selection camp. Delhi Dynamos FC is looking at finding the next ‘Face of Indian Football’ from Delhi.

    MUMBAI: Delhi Dynamos FC, the national capital’s Football Team for the Hero Indian Super League, has signed up Italian football superstar Alessandro del Piero as its marquee player.

    The 39-year-old Italian who has won almost every tournament he has played in for club and country, needs no introduction. Some of his top achievements over 2 illustrious decades include:

    • Won 8 Serie A titles, the Champions League & Intercontinental Cup with Juventus; he played for Juventus since 1993 and was captain from 2001 until 2012.

    • Led Italy to their FIFA World Cup win in 2006, scoring in the semifinal, and then in the penalty shootout in the final

    • Golden Boot (top scorer): UEFA Champions League (1995-96, 1997-98), Serie A (2007-08)

    • 2nd player to participate in 7 major tournaments for Italy (EURO 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and World Cup 1998, 2002, 2006)

    • Won 2 European Championships as part of Italy’s U-21squad

    • Won a total of 23 trophies

    Alessandro del Piero, also nicknamed “Il Fenomeno Vero” or The Real Phenomenon, is the 10thAll-time Top Scorer in the Champions League and been featured in FIFA 100, a list of the top greatest living footballers compiled by Pele. Having played alongside some great teammates like Gianluigi Buffon & Zinedine Zidane, del Piero has always managed to stand out. Footballing legend Maradona once said, “He (del Peiro) is different to Zinedine Zidane. He likes to play, he feels it in his soul. Between him and the Frenchman, I choose him”

    The Italian great played for Sydney FC for the last two seasons and is credited for putting the A-league (theAustralian League) onto the world stage and inspiring a new generation of football players in that country. The Free-kick King won Sydney FC Player of the Year Award &Sydney FC Golden Boot in 2013 and also scored the A-League goal of the season for 2012–2013.

    After del Piero entered the A-league, there was an immediate positive impact on attendance, membership, TV ratings and corporate support for the club and the league. With Alessandro del Piero’s induction into Delhi Dynamos FC, the club representing India’s national capital is hoping for an encore and expects his presence to galvanize football fans across the country and put a nationwide spotlight on Indian domestic football.

    Belgian Harm van Veldhoven becomes manager for DEN-owned Delhi Dynamos football club

    NEW DELHI: Delhi Dynamos FC, the national capital’s football team for the Hero MotoCorp Indian Super League, have announced Harm van Veldhoven as its manager.

     

    Harm started his career as a striker on the football field and his tryst with coaching started in 1999 with FC Lommel, a renowned second division club in Belgium. He took over as manager in 2000, achieving promotion in 2002 by winning the Belgium Second Division Championship. During his tenure, Harm also managed to guide the club to the finals of the Belgian Cup. In 2003, Harm joined FC Brussels, another promising Belgian club, and won promotion for the club as Champion of the Belgian Second Division in his very first year as their manager.

     

    In 2004, Harm joined Belgian Pro League club Cercle Brugge and served as manager till 2007. Harm then moved to Germinal Beerschot and had another successful couple of seasons in the Pro League.

     

    He joined the Dutch Eredivisie (top division) in 2008, becoming manager of Roda JC. After helping his club avoid relegation in the 2008-09 season, Harm led Roda to a series of impressive league finishes, including a high of sixth place in 2010-11. After completing his contract term in 2012, he joined the Belgian Pro League Club, KV Mechelen as manager, concluding that engagement in 2013.

     

    Harm’s coaching style is a great fit for the Delhi Dynamos’ philosophy of “Thok Denge”. Harm prefers the 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations, enabling his team to produce an exciting brand of fluid, attacking football.

     

    During the launch of the team, the Dynamos described their mission as building football into a leading sport across Delhi and Northern India. With an alliance with Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord Rotterdam and coupled with Harm’s expert guidance, the Dynamos are well on their way to give Delhi a well-prepared, world-class football team that will do the city proud.

    MUMBAI: In this season of football frenzy, the national capital is seeing the birth of its very own football movement. DEN Soccer a wholly owned subsidiary of DEN Networks announced the launch of the Delhi Dynamos FC, the Delhi franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL).

     

    DEN also announced its alliance with Feyenoord Rotterdam -a leading football club and academy from the Netherlands. Feyenoord’s football academy has been voted as the best academy in the Netherlands for five successive years. According to the CIES Football Observatory, Feyenoord is the world number one in player development for this year’s FIFA World Cup. As part of the alliance with DEN, Feyenoord will share its immense knowledge of the sport and assist the Delhi Dynamos in overall development of its team in addition to providing world class players and technical staff.
