    Christmas Exclusives on Amrita TV

    MUMBAI: To celebrate Christmas with its viewers worldwide, Amrita TV has scheduled an exclusive fare of programmes which include a Christmas Concert, telecast of Christmas proceedings from a well-known church, a series of Hollywood-produced films on Biblical characters ,programmes related to the Christian fraternity and a new look-screen with Santa Claus and kids being featured as graphics in the channel throughout the Christmas festivities.

    Some of the notable programmes, are the telecast of “Gloria Deo International Concert” ,billed as the biggest Christmas Concert in South India with musicians from across the world like Beny Prasad,an internationally acclaimed musician who has developed a unique 51-string guitar and has performed at Olympics and FIFA, and toured over 100 countries; Cindy Wilcox,Professor Music ,Liberty University and musician from UK, and Emaurie Woods blue black singer from USA–alongwith Boney, musician ,Live Jam ,Trivandrum and the Super Star troupe of Stephen at the key board,Sangeeth and Job.

    The program is telecast on Sunday 24 December on Amrita TV .On Sunday itself there is an exclusive programme with well-known playback and classical singer Yesudas who talks to Amrita TV in the company of his family and friends in the program “Samagamam”.

    On Christmas Day,Amrita TV is serializing “Bible Stories ” in Malayalam on Jesus,Jacob and David which will be telecast on prime time for a fortnight (Mon-Fri .7.30 pm).A Hollywood production,it features an international cast .On 25th a Special Xmas episode of its latest reality show ,”Super Star Junior” will be telecast at 8 pm .

    This special episode will be for 90 minutes and, will for the first time, introduce the shortlisted junior contestants from the thousands who were auditioned for the show in the 10-15 age group.These children under the direction of music directors, Deepak Dev,George Peter,Alphonse will host a Christmas show.

    On the same day, “Music Cafe”will feature Christmas Carols with top musicians from South India; while “Sruthilayam”,a classical music programme will feature a Christian priest singing classical songs.

    Amrita TV Super Star Junior grand finale

    MUMBAI: The music reality show Super Star Junior from Amrita TV will air its culminating episode live on Sunday 25 January from 6:40 pm to 10 pm from Trivandrum. It will be a hotly contested battle between three finalists- Al Sabith (13), Lincy (13) and Pradeesh (14)for the Super Star Junior crown.

    Apart from performances by the three Super Star Junior finalists, this live telecast will also be interspersed with performances from the judges of the show and prominent musicians like Gayatri, Deepak Dev, George Peter, Alphonse, Stephen, Naresh Iyer. The winners of the past Super Star Singer – Sangeeth and runner-up Job will also entertain audiences.

    Super Star Junior winner stands to win a cash prize of Rs 2,50,000 along with a one-year contract with the channel. The first and second runner-up contestants get prize money of Rs 1,50,000 and Rs 1,00,000 respectively. The winner will also enjoy a free trip with his family to Dubai.

    The contest is open to public voting which will be updated throughout the show.

    The invitees at the grand finale include a select audience consisting of Amrita TV’s national and local clients, media planners, ad agencies. A specially invited gathering of celebrities, film and music industry performers, children from schools of contestants participating in the contest, media persons and well-wishers.

    Nearly 10,000 applicants were short listed down to 11 contestants by a panel of well-known music directors and musicians. Sponsored by Brooke Bond Red Label, the past few months have seen the elimination rounds being aired on weekdays in the prime time band where the littles champs battle it out with each other.

    The show will be viewed by millions of viewers of Amrita TV which has a global footprint covering Australia, Middle East, USA, Canada, UK, Europe and parts of South Africa.

    Amrita TV ‘Super Star Junior’ to kick off from 11 Dec

    MUMBAI: Amrita TV has launched Super Star Junior for aspirants in the 10-15 age- group which goes on air from Dec 11 Monday to Friday 8 pm to 9 pm.

    From the nearly 9000 children who registered for this talent hunt, 10 contestants will be shortlisted to participate in the performance rounds of the show, asserts an official release.

    Amrita TV has conducted auditions across Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode with music directors and singers like Deepak Dev , George Peter , Gayatri, Manjari and Jyotsana as judges.

    Each of the 10 contestants will undergo music orientation, grooming and performance training from music director Alphonse. As part of the programme, contestants will be exposed to sightseeing visits, and mentoring sessions to handle the challenges of such a competition from experts in the field.

    Hindustan Lever is the main brand sponsor and Hutch the co-sponsor of Super Star Junior.

    The final 10 contestants will be fighting for the Super Star Junior crown based on public voting through sms –with one contestant being eliminated every week.The Grand Finale will be a triangular contest which is scheduled for mid-February 2007, before the onset of the school examination period, adds the release.

    Amrita TV’s Super Star crowns Sangeeth; Super Star Junior set to kick off

    MUMBAI: Amrita TV’s Super Star grand finale night declared Sangeeth.S the winner with 1,06,898 votes, while Job Kurian was runner-up with 81,146 SMSs to his credit. At the event, Amrita TV also announced the launch of Super Star Junior for aspirants in the 10 -15 age group slated for December 2006, for which auditions start in November.

    The winner bagged a Maruti Suzuki Swift car as the Super Star prize, while Kurian took home a bike. All the Super Star contestants also performed on the stage alongside the two finalists who were fighting for the crown.

    The gala night also saw performances by the three judges, youth music icons, Deepak Dev, Alphonse and Bala Bhaskar alongwith a set of renderings by pianist Stephen –who provided the music accompaniment in the Super Star show right from its inception, states an official release.

    The programme which introduced to Malayalam television the concept of discovering a music performer was telecast live from the University Senate Hall, Trivandrum. Kerala star Dileep presented by Super Star Prize, while directors and artistes who judged earlier episodes of the show were also present including Kamal, Siby Malayil, Lohitdas, Samvratha, Sreekumaran Thampy and Menaka.
