    Koovs appoints MediaCom as media buying agency

    NEW DELHI: Online fashion store Koovs.com has appointed MediaCom as its media buying agency. 

     

    The appointment is ahead of the launch of the brand’s first 360 degree ad campaign later this month. MediaCom India will be responsible for media planning and devising efficient media mix for the new campaign.

     

    Koovs.com CEO Mary Turner said, “MediaCom was an obvious choice owing to their out of box ideas and their credibility in the industry.     MediaCom appoints Hariharan Vishwanathan as head – South

    MUMBAI: MediaCom has named Hariharan Vishwanathan as head – South.

     

    Vishwanathan joins from GroupM, where he was part of the CTG team. He takes over from Sriram Sharma, who was recently appointed as Mindshare leader – South.

     

    Vishwanathan will report to MediaCom India COO Rathi Gangappa.

     

    MediaCom India managing director Debraj Tripathy said, “We are happy to have someone with Vishi’s experience and caliber on board. Our business in the South has seen fantastic growth in the last few years under Sriram’s leadership. I am confident Vishi will bring renewed energy and focus to our business.     MediaCom India bags Roche Diagnostics media AOR

    MUMBAI: MediaCom India has won the media mandate for Roche Diagnostics India following a multi-agency pitch.

     

    The agency will handle all traditional and digital media for the company and its flagship brand Accu-Chek. Roche Diagnostics will be managed out of the west region. The pitch was led by MediaCom Mumbai GM Deepa Jatkar.

     

    MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy said, “We are delighted to partner with Roche Diagnostics in India and look forward to contributing to their growth. Our team is excited and is looking forward to working on building the brand.”

     

    Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Roche is a leader in research-focused healthcare with combined strength in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.

    MediaCom appoints Rathi Gangappa as head west

    MUMBAI: MediaCom has brought on board Rathi Gangappa as head west.

     

    She will report to MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy and will oversee P&G along with rest of the west businesses that include the VW group, HRI, Vespa and others.

     

    Tripathy said, “I am delighted to welcome Rathi to the MediaCom family. I am confident her varied experience across organisations, both agencies and advertisers, and across categories will help us deliver greater value to our clients. I wish her the very best for a long and enriching career with MediaCom”

     

    Prior to joining Mediacom, Gangappa was at Vodafone as the head of media and was subsequently in charge of developing Vodafone’s mobile marketing product. She has been instrumental in building Vodafone’s leading media identity and driving their strategic media solutions.

     

    Gangappa started her career in Lintas Media after which she moved to Maximize (now Maxus) when GroupM India was formed. In a career spanning over 18 years, Gangappa has worked with clients like Unilever, Hutch/ Vodafone, Tata Motors, Britannia and Walt Disney.

     

    Gangappa said, “I am excited to be joining the talented team at Mediacom and working with some of the most prestigious brands in India. MediaCom has been growing fast and has produced some of the best work in the industry. It is a challenge to keep up the pace and I am looking forward to it.”

  • Niti Kumar takes over as MediaCom Delhi GM

    MUMBAI: Media agency MediaCom has elevated Niti Kumar to the post of general manager for its Delhi operations. She takes over from Vinish Joshi who has decided to move on from the agency.

    Kumar joined MediaCom in 2011 as the national director – Insights and new business and continued to hold the post till now. She led a number of successful pitches, the latest being Mars this January. She has over 13 years of experience in the media agency domain. She has worked on a host of clients like ICI Paints, HBO, Dabur, Amway, Gillette, Reckitt Benckiser, Electrolux and Yatra.com.

    MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy said, “Niti has shown perseverance and maturity in the way she has been able to manage both the new business and the consumer insights processes. She is absolutely the best person to take over from Vinish. Vinish has been with MediaCom for the last six years and has done a great job of nurturing our clients as well as the MediaCom Delhi team.   • Mediacom bags media biz of Mars

    MUMBAI: GroupM‘s Mediacom has won the consolidated business of Mars in India following a multi-agency pitch that saw participation of incumbent agencies and Starcom MediaVest Group.

    Mediacom already handles the account of Mars in 18 countries across the world.

    In India, the account was earlier divided between RK Swamy Media and MEC India. However, Mars‘ brand Wrigley India was being handled by Mediacom and hence the agency has retained the account.

    MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy said, “Yes we have won the account and we have already started working on it.”

    On 2008, Mars Incorporated together with Berkshire Hathaway Incorporated had boughtout chewing gum brand Wrigley.

  • MediaCom shuffles senior team at Mumbai office

    MUMBAI: The GroupM and Madison Media joint venture agency MediaCom has announced changes in key senior roles at the Mumbai office.

    Hemen Desai, who is currently managing partner for Team P&G, will be moving to Tokyo as MediaCom Japan MD.

    Desai has been with MediaCom India since 2008 and has been instrumental in setting up the team that exclusively handles the P&G media mandate. He and his team were the architects of the Gillete “WALS” campaign that won MediaCom India a Gold Media Lion at Cannes Lions.

    Desai‘s move as MD of MediaCom Japan, comes a week after the announcement of Anita Mookherjee‘s move from MediaCom Bangalore to Jakarta as the MD of MediaCom Indonesia.

    MediaCom India MD Debraj Tripathy said, “This is in line with our endeavor to provide our top performers with bigger opportunities within the MediaCom network. MediaCom India continues to be the grooming ground for some of MediaCom‘s best managers in the region.”

    Avinash Pillai, who used to lead buying for MediaCom India, will replace Desai as general manager on the P&G business. Pillai has been with MediaCom for more than two years and has been directly involved with media partners on all key deals and plays an important role in new business wins.

    Ashwini Kamat, who used to lead the non-P&G businesses in MediaCom Bombay (VW Group, HRI, Aegon Religare, Wyeth, Pfizer, and Edelweiss), will take over from Pillai as the national buying director of MediaCom India.

    Deepa Jatkar who used to lead the VW business takes over from Kamat as the general manager in charge of the non-P&G businesses. Both Kamat and Jatkar together fashioned and managed the innovations on VW and Skoda.

  • MediaCom bags Qyuki.com media mandate

    MUMBAI: MediaCom has won the media mandate for Qyuki.com, a social media platform founded by Shekhar Kapur and AR Rahman.

    After a multi-agency pitch, MediaCom‘s Bengaluru office is given the task of handling the account.

    Qyuki CMO Bidisha Nagaraj said, “We were really impressed by MediaCom’s understanding of the digital space and the passion shown by the team. There could not have been a better team to manage the launch and growth of our brand.”

    Qyuki.com aims at engaging Indian youth by showcasing new media content. Users at Qyuki can explore new ways of creativity and self-expression as well as get an opportunity to come together to co-create, learn and experience content from creative experts.

    Mediacom is a joint venture between WPP’s GroupM and homegrown media conglomerate Madison Media. The agency recently won the Rs 250 million media account for Miayas Beverages and Foods.

    MUMBAI: MediaCom, a joint venture of India‘s Madison Media and global media communications giant WPP, has won the media mandate for Miayas Beverages and Foods. The account is worth Rs 250 million. The account win is the result of a multi-agency pitch.

    Maiyas Beverages and Foods director Dr P Sadananda Maiya said, “The passion and rigour shown by MediaCom was really impressive. We are very happy that our brand is in good hands with MediaCom.”
