    DDB Mudra-Delhi appoints Radhika Das as VP

    MUMBAI: DDB Mudra has appointed Radhika Das as vice president.

    Das is joining in from O&M where she was working as director-client services.

    Based in Delhi, she will be in charge of clients handled out of Delhi office, like Dabur Jaypee, Nestle and Mother Dairy.

    DDB Mudra Group president Vandana Das said, “As part of the journey ahead, I see Radhika as a key player in the Delhi team to nurture client relationships, build brands and also to help us grow.”

    On her new role Radhika Das added, “I‘ve worked with Mudra in my earlier years and given the extremely enriching experience I had, I’m absolutely delighted to be back again. I‘m looking forward to a long innings and being a part of the evolution, the organization is witnessing.”

    Das comes in with over 13 years of experience. Prior to joining O&M, she has also worked with Publicis Communications and with Hakuhodo Percept. She has worked on brands such as HP, RBS, Costa Coffee and Maruti Suzuki.

    Arshiya awards creative account to DDB Mudra

    MUMBAI: Integrated supply chain and logistics infrastructure solutions provider Arshiya International has chosen DDB Mudra as its creative agency following a multi agency.

    The agency’s Mumbai office will handle the account, informed a senior level executive at the agency. Lowe Lintas and Ogilvy were among the other agencies involved in the pitch.

    The mandate duties include increasing Ashriya’s brand awareness and working to build its brand identity. The primary objective is to spread awareness about the brand and product-related advertising is a secondary goal with TV forming part of the media mix for the upcoming campaign.

    Headquartered in India, Arshiya has multinational operations in the logistics and supply chain management space. It is currently involved in the phased investment of approximately $1.6 billion towards creating and pioneering logistics infrastructure within India.

    Indians make presence felt on Cannes Lions 2012 jury

    MUMBAI: At least two creative brains from the Indian advertising fraternity will be seen on the jury at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2012. While DDB Mudra Group COO Pratap Bose will be representing India on the Promo & Activation Lions category, Scarecrow Communications founder director Manish Bhatt will be on the jury for the Direct Category.

    Apart from his position as the COO of DDB Mudra Group, Pratap Bose is also a member of the company‘s operating board. He drives the vision and growth strategy for the Group comprising DDB Mudra, DDB MudraMax and Mudra. He joined DDB Mudra Group from Ogilvy & Mather India where he had worked for 17 years in various capacities and went on to becoming its CEO in 2006.

    Meanwhile, In a career spanning 15 years, Bhatt has worked with agencies like Ogilvy & Mather, McCann Erickson, Ambience Publicis and handled brands like Tata Indicom, Aegon Religare, Cadbury, Asian Paints, HSBC, Hanes, Wonderbra, Vaseline, Johnson & Johnson, L‘Oreal, Nestle, Eristoff (Bacardi), Barclays, Anchor Panasonic, Viacom 18 and many more.

    His work has been recognised by award bodies like Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Clio, Communication Arts, Asia Pacific Awards and many more.

    Colenso BBDO New Zealand creative chairman Nick Worthington is the Promo and Activation Lions Jury President this year. While, Shalmor Avnon Amichay / Y&R Interactive Tel Aviv former chief creative officer and joint managing partner Gideon Amichay will chair the Direct Lions Jury.

    Badri Narayan to head analytics at Mogae Media

    MUMBAI: Badri Narayan has joined Mogae Media as its head of analytics.

    Narayan will be based at Mogae‘s Delhi headquarters and will report to chief intelligence officer Pavan Chandra.

    An IIT-ian from Mumbai, Natayan graduated from Mumbai University as a science student.

    He has worked with companies like Adnova Technologies, Zenith Optimedia, DDB Mudra and a recent start-up, Corporate Storytellers. He has knowledge of process flow technologies, analytics and media buying. He has developed a range of analytics software for media planning, logistics as well as online retail firms. He is adept at handling various database technologies and also has an intuitive feel for the social media space.

    Welcoming Narayan on board Chandra said, “Badri is very data-driven. He lives and breathes data cuts and data slices! He will add a lot of practical experience to our young team at Mogae Media.”

    Narayan said, “Data for me is sacrosanct and churning rich information from it is my everyday mission. Most times the sheer volume of data can be quite intimidating. And I thrive on that challenge. We‘re talking about data sizes beyond terabytes at Airtel with whom Mogae works. And these data are constantly growing thanks to the ubiquitous information-sensing mobile devices. For me, Mogae is therefore the place to be.”

    DDB Mudra completes last leg of restructuring

    MUMBAI: DDB Mudra has completed the last leg of its restructuring, a process that started in November 2011 after Omnicom took majority stake in the Anil Ambani-owned company.

    The senior level changes include Arijit Ray who will now work on a new assignment in the DDB Asia-Pacific network while Sudarshan Banerjee will serve as director business development in the DDB Mudra Group in addition to his role as head Mudra Ahmedabad. Ray was president Mudra West till now.

    Banerjee will report to Pratap Bose who is group CEO.

    Also, Anurag Bansal will now serve as director finance in the DDB Mudra Group and be the deputy to the group chief financial officer Dilip Upadhyaya.

    At the beginning of 2012 Mudra had announced the joining of Vandana Das as head of its North operations while Rajiv Sabnis was given the reins to head the West operations. Ranji Cherian continued to head the southern operations.

    Sabnis and Cherian will also be involved in initiating integration projects and business for DDB MudraMax from the existing clients within DDB Mudra and Mudra in their respective regions.

    DDB Mudra will announce its new identity on 28 February. The effective date for the makeover is 1 March.

    Nagesh Rao joins Mica as director

    MUMBAI: Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad (MICA) has appointed Nagesh Rao as director.

    Rao is joining in from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India (IIM-A).

    After former director Ashok Ranchhod resigned in May 2011, Prof Arbind Sinha had been officiating as the director.

    Mudra Foundation chairman Madhukar Kamath said, “Dr. Rao has achieved outstanding success in his field of specialisation. Given his varied international experience and prolific achievements, we look forward to his steering the Institute over the next several years and taking it from its pre-eminent position as a leading communication management school in India to a globally recognised school.”

    Rao added, “It is with honour and pride, I accept the position of director, Mica, a premier communications management institute in the country. With its outstanding governing council, faculty, staff and students, I look forward to taking Mica to greater heights – both nationally and internationally.”

    Established in 1991, communications management institute Mica’s foundation lies in being an innovative and creative school addressing the needs of an ever-changing marketing and communications environment.

    Rao has been teaching for over 20 years now. Prior to IIM-Ahmadabad, he had taught in several U.S. universities, including University of Maryland, Ohio University and University of New Mexico. He had also been a visiting professor at Bangkok University, Zayed University (U.A.E.) and Hong Kong Baptist University.

    He had served as a consultant or a trainer for Siemens India, NextGen Health Care, Price Waterhouse Coopers, England, Johns Hopkins University Medical School, and Northwestern University Medical School, U.S.A.

    Rao is a member of the advisory board, Intercultural Communication Institute, Oregon, U.S.A and Coordinator, Website Editorial Committee, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, 2011-12.

    Wagh Bakri appoints Saints and Warriors for Mili

    MUMBAI: Creative agency Saints and Warriors has bagged the creative duties for packaged tea brand Wagh Bakri’s second brand, Mili. The agency’s Mumbai office will handle the business.

    The incumbent agency is Hanmer Creative+. Before that, Mudra handled the creative duties for Mili.

    Wagh Bakri Tea Group executive director sales and marketing Parag Desai said, “We liked the strategy and the creative approach that Saints and Warriors presented. Mili is a popular brand in north India, and we are planning for a national footprint.”

    A campaign involving a mix of ATL and BTL activities will be launched in a month‘s time.

    Triton Communications and Percept/H are already with Wagh Bakri.

    Wagh Bakri Tea Group is a premium tea group, in existence since 1892 with a production base near Ahmedabad. The company has a market presence in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi, and Hyderabad, and has recently forayed into Chhattisgarh.

    MUMBAI: Vandana Das, who was president and branch head at Ogilvy‘s sister agency Brand David, has joined the DDB Mudra Group as president of Delhi branch. She will be responsible for building both the DDB Mudra and Mudra brands in Delhi.

    Das brings with her more than two decades of experience including more than 15 years at Ogilvy.

    A post graduate in Psychology and Business Administration she has been a part of Ogilvy Delhi’s growth in the last few years. Besides successfully turning around many brands of Dabur across the hair care, skin care, oral care and home care categories, she launched the hugely successful Maruti- Zen –Estillo- Little box campaign, a completely integrated effort that spanned Television, Print, OOH, Digital as well as Rural Marketing. She played a significant role in the transformation of Limca from an uninspiring brand to a very refreshing drink for the youth. She has also worked on Costa Coffee, Hindustan Times and Four Square Cigarettes. At Ogilvy Delhi, Vandana also served as a training leader.

    In a related development, Rajiv Sabnis, who was president at DDB India, will now head the western operations for the agency. He will be based in Mumbai. His earlier mandate was to manage both the Mumbai and Delhi offices of the agency.

    Mudra South executive vice-president and head Rajni Cherian will continue to head the southern operations for the Mudra Group.

    Coal India empanels 4 agencies to handle creative biz

    MUMBAI: Coal India Limited (CIL) has empanelled four agencies to handle the creative duties of the company following a multi-agency pitch.

    The account size is pegged at Rs 100-120 million, according to a source.

    Out of the four agencies, two have won the account and two have retained the account. R K Swamy BBDO and Inter Publicity are the new agencies that have been roped in and have replaced Ogilvy and Grey. Meanwhile, Sobhagya Advertising and DDB Mudra have retained the account.

    CIL is organised state-owned coal mining corporate that came into being in November 1975 with the government taking over private coal mines. It is a holding company with seven wholly owned coal producing subsidiary companies and one mine planning and consultancy company. It encompasses the whole gamut of identification of coal reserves, detailed exploration followed by design and implementation and optimising operations for coal extraction in its mines.

    MUMBAI: Travel and tourism company Kuoni Travel Group India’s brand SOTC has appointed DDB Mudra as its new creative agency.

    Sources said the digital mandate will also move to DDB Mudra which until now was handled by R K Swamy BBDO.

    The agency‘s Mumbai branch will handle the new businesses.

    Network Advertising is the incumbent on the creative account. The agency was awarded the mandate in 2006.Other agencies that have handled the creative mandate for Kuoni in the past include Saatchi & Saatchi, The Republic and Pickle Lintas.

    TSOTC is known for its brand philosophy ‘Expect More‘. This thought — coined five to six years ago — positions the brand as a travel operator that provides more value, superior customer service and high quality.

    In the past, SOTC‘s media duties have been looked after by Maximize, the media planning and buying agency from the GroupM stable (2004-06), and later, by Maxus (2006 onwards). As of now, the media planning and buying duties are being handled by an in-house team.

    SOTC operates in the US, Canada, UK, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, Kuwait, Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Hong Kong, Singapore, Pakistan and South Africa.
