    CCEA approves “Broadcasting Infrastructure and Network Development” scheme of Prasar Bharti

    MUMBAI: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today gave its approval to the proposal of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) regarding PrasarBharati's"Broadcasting Infrastructure and Network Development" scheme at a cost of Rs.1054.52 crore for 3 years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.

    Out of Rs. 1054.52 Crore, an amount of Rs. 435.04 Crore is approved for the continuing schemes of All India Radio and an amount of Rs 619.48 Crore is approved for the schemes of Doordarshan. The continuing schemes of AIR and Doordarshan are at different stages of implementation and are scheduled to be completed in phases.

    The cabinet also approved the launch of DD Arun Prabha Channel from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh to fulfil the aspirations of people of North East Region. In addition to this, 1,50,000 DTH sets have been approved for distribution in different states in the country which will help people in the border, remote, tribal and LWE areas to watch Doordarshan's DTH programmes.

    Provisions have been kept for modernisation of existing equipment/facilities in studios which are essential to sustain the ongoing activities and also for High Definition Television (HDTV) transmitters at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Setting up of Digital Terrestrial Transmitters (DTTs) at 19 locations and Digitization of Studios at 39 locations, DSNG (Digital Satellite News Gathering) Vans at 15 locations and Upgradation of Earth Stations at 12 locations have also been approved.

    For All India Radio, the Scheme provides for FM expansion at 206 places, digitalisation of studios at 127 places are envisaged. FM expansion programme will benefit 13 per cent additional population of the country to listen the AIR programmes. Besides 10 KW FM transmitters would be set up along Indo-Nepal Border while 10KW FM transmitters would be set up in J&K Border. These will significantly improve the Radio and TV coverage along the border areas.

    NEW DELHI: Pubcaster Doordarshan has modified the 21 June date for uploading the modified request for proposal for selection of agency for channel packaging work for its DD Arunprabha channel being launched for the north-eastern Indian states.

    Technical bids will be opened the next day, but no date has been announced for opening of financial bids.

    It said that submission and opening of bids will be through e-tendering and the technical and financial bids have to be submitted online and the document can be downloaded from the web sites.

    Earlier in mid-January, it had extended to the end of that month the final date for receiving proposals for commissioned programmes in seven different categories for the new channel. DD had said that preference will be given to Programmes based on themes and subjects relevant to NER.

    The proposals from reputed producers/production houses are under Fixed Budget Mode of Commissioned Programmes Category and the episodic price ranges between Rs 800,000 to Rs One Million.

    DD Arunprabha will be a 24×7 satellite channel originating from DDK, Itanagar. Programmes on DD Arunprabha would show richness, variety and diversity of local culture. The channel would seamlessly integrate NER with the entire country. The channel’s USP will be to attract young people of NER with contemporary entertainment shows embedded with informative content.

    The invitation is part of efforts of Prasar Bharati’s special efforts in North East Region (NER) to promote and nurture talent, provide a platform to deserving producers/artistes from NER as well as from outside to encourage production of better programmes for DD viewers.

    Programme proposals for DD Arunprabha are Daily Soap/Serials; Thrillers, Mythological serials, telefilms, quiz shows/magazine formats with celebrity anchorperson, travelogue in documentary format or with celebrity, and reality shows.

    In another modification, DD said: “The show reel of a programme should depict/showcase the work already done by the producer/production house. It should also depict the credentials of the producer/production house.”

    All other terms and conditions of the RFP including details of payment remain unchanged and in full force and effect.

  • DD Kashir packaging agency tenders floated

    NEW DELHI: Doordarshan has floated a tender for selecting an agency for channel packaging work for DD Kashir.

    The Description of task, e-tender submission format and procedure is provided in the Bid document available on the DD website and two e-tendering websites. The pre-bid meeting in this connection would be held on 7 April 2017 and the last date of submission is 19 April 2017 afternoon.

    The tenders for technical bids will be opened on 20 April in the afternoon.

    However, Doordarshan sources said that the date of presentation and date of opening of the financial bids of eligible bidders would be announced later.

    DD Kashir programmes are beamed from Srinagar. An official of DD also denied reports that DD Urdu programmes were being used in DD Kashir.

    Earlier this month, Doordarshan invited applications for an agency to undertake the channel packaging work for its new northeast channel, DD Arunprabha. A tender was released today (10 March 2017) and the last bid date is 1 May 2017 evening at 3.00 pm. There will be a pre-bid meeting on 30 March 2017.

    Information and broadcasting minister M Venkaiah Naidu had earlier announced that a new dedicated Doordarshan channel Arunprabha would be launched erly this year. The channel would showcase richness, variety and diversity of local culture and would seamlessly integrate North East with the entire country.

    A fresh show reel of the programmes for 3 to 5 minutes duration on

    DVD/CD/pen drive on given genre or theme will also be submitted along with the proposal, except in the case of Reality Shows. But episodic break-up and details of set backdrop/Anchor/Judges profiles and criteria of selection are required with the proposal.

    NEW DELHI: Aware about the diversity of the states in north-east India, the government has established separate Capital Doordarshan Kendras for each of the states, the Parliament was told.

    Minister of state for information and broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore told the Lok Sabha in reply to a question that these kendras were telecasting their local programmes according to the needs of the States from 3 pm to 7 pm daily on terrestrial mode.

    Some states also have one to two other Programme Generation Facilities (PGF), he added.

    Rathore also said that Prasar Bharati was launching a new 24×7 Satellite TV Channel “DD Arunprabha” shortly from Itanagar in addition to the existing North East Channel at Guwahati.
