    Mumbai: DC has announced that it will celebrate Batman Day on 17 September by providing fans with free comics at participating comic book shops. Titles available include “Batman: Hush” by writer Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee and “Batman’s Mystery Casebook – Batman Day Special Edition #1” by writer Sholly Fisch and artist Christopher Uminga.

    Global celebrations for DC’s Batman will once again span the globe as fans celebrate the world’s greatest detective and over 80 years of storytelling around “The Dark Knight.”

    In India, fans will get to participate in exciting social media contests hosted by partner brands like Boat, Shop The Arena, etc. and win gift hampers worth Rs 2,499 to celebrate Dark Knight’s Day.

    Mumbai: Spotify India has announced its new original audio series titled “Batman Ek Chakravyuh” – a Hindi adaptation of the audio streaming platform’s global audio series “Batman Unburied.”

    The audio series premieres globally  on 3 May with nine international adaptations, including the original English-language script for the US, and localised versions developed for India, Brazil, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and Mexico.

    “Batman Unburied” is the first project to debut as part of Spotify’s global multi-year agreement with Warner Bros and DC. The partnership will leverage DC’s vast library of iconic characters in new Spotify podcasts to unite fans around the world in an unforgettable audio experience.

    “‘Batman Ek Chakravyuh’ takes listeners on a journey where the characters inhabit the mind and linger long after the tale is over,” said the platform in a statement.

    The all-star cast for “Batman Ek Chakravyuh” includes Amit Sadh (as Batman), Sharib Hashmi (as The Riddler), Shweta Tripathi (as Barbara Gordon), Anangsha Biswas, Aseem Hattangady, Ashwin Mushran, Danish Hussain, Pooja Gor, Rajat Kapoor, Sarika and, Vrajesh Hirjee. Bringing David S Goyer’s creation to life in India is Mantra Mugdh, the director of the audio series.

    “Batman Ek Chakravyuh” is a psychological thriller that takes listeners on a new journey deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne, introducing a slew of dark twists and turns with a number of classic Batman super-villains. When audiences meet Bruce Wayne he is a forensic pathologist, working in Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham City’s citizens. Not only will Wayne be forced to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them to save the citizens as his alter-ego, Batman.

    Listeners can also stream the English version of the podcast featuring Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne surrounded by an A-list cast that includes Hasan Minhaj, Gina Rodriguez, Jason Isaacs, and Lance Reddick.

    NEW DELHI: In a collaborative and innovative effort to further increase premium content offerings for consumers, Spotify, Warner Bros and DC (the home of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, The Joker and many more iconic DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains) today announced a new multi-year deal to produce and distribute an original slate of narrative scripted podcasts, marking the first pact of its kind between the companies. 

    Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming subscription service, is committed to an annual slate of new dramatic and comedic podcasts that Warner Bros. will develop and produce. Under terms of the deal, Spotify will have a first look at original scripted narrative DC podcasts, including new shows based on the vast universe of premier, iconic DC characters. The initial slate of projects under the partnership will also tap into Warner Bros.’ broader collection of timeless titles for additional series. 

    In addition to producing narratives based on existing characters and established franchises from across Warner Bros. and DC, the companies will also collaborate to create new programming from original intellectual property.

    On the Warner Bros. side, the partnership will be managed through a cross-divisional effort led by Peter Girardi and Robert Steele, who will co-develop and produce the programming in collaboration with Spotify, which will be responsible for the marketing, advertising, and distribution of the shows exclusively on its platform. Girardi — executive vice president of Blue Ribbon Content and of alternative programming at Warner Bros. Animation — will serve as the creative lead, and Steele — senior vice president, business strategy and operations, Warner Bros. Digital Networks — will spearhead strategic business aspects of the partnership for the Studio.

    The agreement with Spotify continues Warner Bros.’ commitment to storytelling across all platforms and builds upon a January 2020 first-look deal WBDN announced with Rainy Day Podcasts — a new company formed by Jagged Films partners Mick Jagger & Victoria Pearman (“Shine a Light,” “Get on Up,” “Vinyl,” “Enigma”), producer Steve Bing (“The Polar Express,” “Marley,” “Neil Young: Heart of Gold,” “Shine a Light”), and Oscar®-nominated writer Josh Olson (“A History of Violence”) — to produce a slate of original narrative podcasts.

    RealD wins patent infringement action over MasterImage

    MUMBAI: In the U.S. International Trade Commission investigation instituted against MasterImage 3D’s Horizon3D cinema system products, an initial determination concluded that RealD’s patents were valid and infringed by MasterImage. 

     

    RealD had filed an ITC complaint contending that the Horizon3D cinema systems infringe RealD patents covering their optical architecture and polarisation control technologies. The ITC is an independent governmental agency in Washington, DC, responsible for addressing patent infringement disputes relating to goods that are manufactured abroad and imported into the United States.

     

    RealD pioneered modern digital 3D in cinemas and is the dominant global 3D market leader with over 27,000 screens in 72 countries. RealD’s XL Cinema Systems are the world’s brightest, delivering the best visual experience possible to consumers.

     

    “We are enormously pleased with today’s initial determination by the U.S. International Trade Commission in our favour. We invested considerable time, effort and resources to develop the most light-efficient 3D projection system in the industry, and we will continue to aggressively enforce our intellectual property rights against any company that seeks to infringe on our patented technology,” said RealD executive vice president and general counsel Vivian Yang.
