News9’s ‘Duologue NXT’ hands the mic to women ‘set for the big leap’

MUMBAI: Move over monologues, Duologue is back, and this time, it’s passing the spotlight to women ready to take the big leap. TV9 Network has launched ‘Duologue NXT’, presented by Radico Khaitan, as the newest chapter of its acclaimed ‘Duologue with Barun Das’ series, now in its fourth season.

Hosted by TV9 Network, md & ceo, Barun Das, ‘Duologue NXT’ blends the intimacy of a podcast with the power of a movement. It puts future-forward women achievers centre stage, showcasing their grit, ambition, and next big goals. From enterprise and aviation to global cinema, fashion, and glamour, the line-up promises conversations that go beyond clichés and cut through the noise.

“This is more than dialogue; it’s a movement championing women-led development,” said Das. “By amplifying their voices, we hope to inspire not only women but also men to break barriers and aim higher.”

Radico Khaitan, continuing its three-year association with ‘Duologue’, echoed the sentiment. Coo Amar Sinha said, “True progress stems from inclusivity. Our partnership with Duologue NXT reflects our commitment to celebrating women achievers and fuelling India’s women-led growth story.”

With its pledge to focus on substance over tokenism, the show explores the idea that “what got you here won’t get you there.” Each conversation is designed to inspire audiences across generations with strategies, stories, and success paths for the future.

For ‘Duologue,’ which has already hosted luminaries like David Cameron, Oliver Kahn, NR Narayana Murthy, and Allu Arjun, this new season is a bold leap in itself, proof that the Sheconomy isn’t just a buzzword but a movement in motion.

News9 Plus launches new OTT series ‘Duologue with Barun Das’

Mumbai: The first season of four mini-episodes for TV9 Network’s latest OTT series, Duologue with Barun Das, has been released.

TV9 Network MD & CEO Barun Das introduces an exchange of ideas not prompted by headline management, but rather to evolve emancipated influencer conversations on the Network’s newly launched OTT video magazine, News9 Plus.

The show made its debut with “Liger” actor Vijay Devrakonda. Das and Devrakonda discuss not only the Telugu boom in Bollywood but the lives and times of both as they exchange hitherto unknown experiences and perspectives.

Next in line on Duologue with Barun Das, Das engages with the UK’s former prime minister David Cameron, who made history by becoming the country’s youngest leader in two centuries, forging unrivalled ties with India. Cameron speaks about India’s role in the emerging global order.

Speaking on the philosophy of Duologue, Das said, “Duologue is a cerebral conversation with a legend or a legend in the making. That’s the profile the show will feature. As the title suggests, it is a two-way interaction where we pose questions to each other as we exchange ideas in a free-flowing manner.”

He added, “For me to take up this role, the driving force is the need to aggregate great ideas for India’s path to development. I also believe there is room for creating long-lasting and meaningful conversations in a content environment currently dominated by sensationalism.”

“Barun Das is neither a conventional business leader nor a professional anchor. As a CEO, he has always outperformed the industry. Little known in the public domain is his unique and uncanny ability to slice through conflicting narratives with great ease while stitching loose threads to build meaningful conversations with intelligent minds,” said News9 Plus editor Sandeep Unnithan.

After watching the show, The Linus Adventures founder and chief evangelist Sunil Lulla said, “Tantalising and intriguing. Duologue opens new voices and new perspectives.”

“I loved the episode. Barun is so natural. I feel this kind of content can reach a whole new demography… not just rule India but reach the world,” added Chopra Foundation CEO & Seva.Love founder Poonacha Machaiah.

The show is streaming now on the News9 Plus app, available across the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, as well as on the web.

  • Richard Attenborough, director of ‘Gandhi,’ dies at 90

Richard Attenborough, director of ‘Gandhi,’ dies at 90

MUMBAI: Oscar-winning British filmmaker Richard Attenborough, renowned for his critically-acclaimed biopic on Mahatma Gandhi, died on 24 August 2014 after his long illness. The death of the 90 year old was confirmed by his son, according to BBC.

Paying his tribute, British Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: “His acting in Brighton Rock was brilliant, his directing of Gandhi was stunning – Richard Attenborough was one of the greats of cinema.”

In London, he was the original detective in Agatha Christie’s play The Mousetrap. On the British screen, he made an early mark as the sociopath Pinkie Brown in an adaptation of Graham Greene’s Brighton Rock (1947). His acting CV consisted movies like The Great Escape (1963), In Which We Serve (1942), Seance on a Wet Afternoon (1964) etc. To a later generation, he was well known as the scientist-entrepreneur who clones dinosaur DNA in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993).

He won back-to-back Golden Globe Awards for best supporting actor, in The Sand Pebbles (1966), also starring McQueen, set during China’s civil war in the 1920s, and Doctor Dolittle (1967), playing Albert Blossom, a circus owner, alongside Rex Harrison as the veterinarian who talks to animals.

But for most of Attenborough’s later career, his acting was sporadic while he devoted much of his time to directing. Gandhi (1982), an epic but intimate biographical film, was his greatest triumph. Gandhi was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won eight, including best picture, best director, best cinematography, best original screenplay and best actor. The film had 430 speaking parts and used over 300,000 extras for Gandhi’s funeral. No one expected it to recoup its $22 million cost, but it wound up earning 20 times that amount.

Richard Samuel Attenborough was born in Cambridge on 29 August 1923, the eldest son of Frederick Attenborough, an Anglo-Saxon scholar who became the principal of University College, Leicester, and his wife, Mary, a writer who crusaded for women’s rights and took in Basque and German refugees.

Leaving school at 16, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and eventually married a fellow student, Sheila Sim, who became a well-known actress herself before abandoning the theater to look after their three children and become a magistrate.

Attenborough leaves behind his wife, son Michael and daughter Charlotte. His eldest daughter Jane was killed alongside her mother-in-law Jane and her daughter Lucy in the 2004 tsunami.
