    Emraan Hashmi starred ‘Tigers’ to release next year

    NEW DELHI: The Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Tigers’ directed by Danis Tanovic will be released in India on 6 March next year.

     

    Produced by Prashita Chaudhary of French company Cinemorphic and co-produced by Guneet Monga of Sikhya Entertainment apart from Anurag Kashyap and others, Tigers is a true story of the salesman who blew the whistle on the baby food scandal in Pakistan.

     

    It also stars Geetanjali Thapa, Supriya Pathak and Khalid Abdalla. The film’s music has been composed by Pritam. A salesman working in the pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan, discovers its truths, while selling baby formula products, and tries to fight against the system.

     

    “I’m curious to see how Indians react to Tigers. I’m very happy with the response at the festivals. The theatrical release is the next frontier,” said Tanovic.

     

    The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September this year followed by a screening at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

    Emraan Hashmi decides to do a recce for his upcoming Hollywood project

    MUMBAI: So excited is Emraan Hashmi after bagging the pivotal role in Danis Tanovic‘s upcoming film that he has decided to help the director by doing a recce for the film.

    Emraan wants to be part of the project from the start to finish, and feels that being in close contact with the director will enhance their rapport and make them more comfortable with each other, before the shooting commences.

    It is reported that Emraan will be accompanying Tanovic when he goes scouting for locations. In fact, the actor will travel with Tanovic to check out locations in Los Angeles and London as well as tier-two cities and small towns of India. In India, they will consider several options for the perfect location.

    The team will fly to these locations in a few weeks as Emraan is busy shooting for Ungli at the moment.

    It is also said that Emraan is also scheduled to do an acting workshop with Tanovic in January.

    MUMBAI: After captivating Indian audience at large, Emraan Hashmi has finally stepped into the international circuit with him signing a yet untitled film for Academy award winning director Danis Tanovic‘s next film.

    Tanovic is famous for his film No Man‘s Land that is best remembered in India for it having that toppled Aamir Khan‘s Lagaan in the best foreign film Oscar category in 2001.

    Tanovic‘s next will be under the collaborative banner of several production houses like ASAP Films (France), DAR Motion Pictures, Sikhya Entertainment and AKFPL (Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt Ltd).

    Producer Guneet Monga of Anurag Kashyap Films said, “It will be very interesting to see the combination of an Indian star, who has mass appeal with an Oscar-winning director in an international film. We are looking forward to a great collaboration.”

    Danis Tanovic to approach Aamir Khan for Tigers

    MUMBAI: Danis Tanovic, whose No Man‘s Land was pitted against Aamir Khan‘s Lagaan and Audrey Tautou‘s Amélie in the nomination for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Film category in 2002, is to approach Aamir Khan for a role in his forthcoming film Tigers.

    “If everything goes well, we plan to propose a small role to Aamir in Tigers. Let‘s see if it works out,” said producer Cédomir in a statement. He is currently in Goa attending the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

    The story of Tigers revolves around a successful baby food company‘s product that is mixed with spurious ingredients, the large-scale consumption of which ultimately results in problems like diarrhea and dehydration and eventually, a few deaths. “It‘s a very real problem today,” added Cédomir.

    Tanovic and Cédomir are looking to film Tigers in India. “It is set in the Pakistani part of Punjab, but since it‘s not easy to shoot there, we will finish it in the Indian side of the state,” revealed Cédomir.
