    Mumbai: IPRS (The Indian Performing Rights Society Ltd), the music copyright society in India representing authors, composers and publishers of music, kicked off their highly anticipated ‘Soundscapes of India: Gateway to the World’ with an electrifying inauguration led by Daler Mehndi at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The vibrant ceremony set the perfect tone for the global music celebration that followed.

    The opening day was highlighted by a fireside chat with Bhangra king and global pop star, Daler Mehndi, whose music has transcended borders to captivate audiences worldwide. Moderated by IMEA Dolby Labs Sr director commercial partnerships Karan Grover, the discussion offered a deep dive into Mehndi’s illustrious career, his contributions to Indian music, and the universal appeal of his work. The session underscored the enduring global resonance of Indian music and set the tone for the conference’s focus on expanding India’s musical footprint internationally.

The panel explored innovative strategies to enhance India’s global music presence, particularly through digital platforms and international collaborations.     The inaugural day also featured a special fireside chat celebrating 74 years of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and its pivotal role in promoting Indian music globally.     Mahashivrati is one of the largest and most sacred festivals of India. The darkest night of the year, it is a celebration in honor of Adiyogi or Shiva, from whom the tradition of yoga originates.     Narendra Modi to felicitate Clean Champions at India Today Awards

    MUMBAI: It’s been one year since Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated India Today Group chairman and editor in chief Aroon Purie to be a Clean India advocate. The India Today Group will be commemorating the honour with the India Today Safaigiri Singathon and Awards 2015.

    The event will be held on 2 October, the first anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the keynote speaker and give away awards to the Clean India Champions.

    Purie said, “I was delighted when the PM nominated me and The India Today group as an ambassador of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A clean India is such a simple idea but a revolutionary one.  It will only succeed if all of us work to make it a movement. So many of our ills will be solved if we fix our sanitation. By one estimate it could increase our average per capita income by seven per cent. As a media group, we can play a role to raise awareness of this campaign and get people involved. Our first step is Safaigiri Singathon & Awards. Our aim is to work on an attitude change and bring viewers face to face with uncomfortable facts in an entertaining manner. I am glad that we are not just reporting   but   making a difference.”

    India Today Safaigiri Singathon & Awards is a key initiative of the group’s efforts in realising the vision of Swachh Bharat and in recognising Clean Champions across the country. The Clean Champions are selected in 13 categories through a process of online entries, field work, and selection by a jury of eminent citizens.

    The event will be highlighted by the Safai Singathon with singers and musicians performing through the day. The singers and musicians attending the daylong event include, Asha Bhosle, Kailash Kher, Daler Mehndi, Sonu Nigam, Hans Raj Hans, Papon and Udit Narayan. 

    The Safai Singathon will be telecast on all four channels of the network namely India Today Television, Aaj Tak, Tez and Business Today for over eight hours non-stop Live on 2 October.

    MUMBAI: Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Kiren Rijiju, Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor were among youth icons presented with India TV Yuva Awards on Saturday night.

     

    The awards were given away at a glittering event held at Taj Palace Hotel. Following the electric opening performance by Prince Dance troupe, Mr. Rajat Sharma, Chairman & Editor-in-chief, India TV, welcomed the Senior politicians, Bollywood, Television Sports Stars and captains of industry. During his address, he expressed his happiness  over the magnanimous growth in the stature of India TV Yuva Awards. He also outlined that this initiative is solely targeted at inspiring the entire generation of future leaders by way of honoring the Achievers who still have a long way to go in their respective fields.

     

    Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju were conferred the India TV Yuva awards for best young politician, female and male, respectively. 

     

    Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan presented the award to Smriti Irani, while Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat presented the award to Kiren Rijiju. 

     

    Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor as she won the Special Award presented to her by Shatrughan Sinha added a special mention of being really proud to be a happily married young woman & a young working woman while she thanked India TV & its Management for the recognition . Musicians Aman and Ayan Ali Khan were presented Special Award by singer Daler Mehndi. 

     

    Sonam Kapoor was presented the India TV Yuva award for best female actor by Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal. Arjun Kumar was given the award in best male actor category by Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma.

     

    Cricketer Suresh Raina’s brother collected the Sports Icon Award from Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (Retd) V K Singh on his behalf as he is busy playing IPL. Shuttler P V Sindhu got the best female sportsperson award from Congress leader Salman Khurshid. 

     

    TV actor Mohit Raina of ‘Devon Ke Dev, Mahadev’ serial fame got the best TV male actor award from Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, while TV actor Digangana Suryavanshi of “Veer Ki Ardaas Veera” serial fame,  got the best TV female actor award from Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. 

     

    In the Music category, Palak Muchhal got the best female singer award from Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while Javed Ali was presented the best male singer award by Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh. 

     

    In the Business category, Neha Kirpal, director of India Art Fair, got the the India TV Yuva Award for best female businessperson from Samajwadi Party leader Ramgopal Yadav, while Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax was given the award for best male businessperson by senior Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi. 

     

    Manish Paul was at his witty best & proved that why he is rated amongst the best when it comes to hosting large format events. Artistes of Prince Dance Group presented electrifying performances. Famous Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi belted out a number from his latest album, while award winner Palak Muchhal sang one of her superhit songs ‘Chahoon Main Aana’ from the film Aashiqui 2.

     

    Actor Arjun Kapoor did the signature step from the popular song ‘Tune Maari Entry’ from the movie Gunday, even as a funny onstage-offstage act took place between Arjun, Kareena Kapoor and Manish Paul, soon after the special award was presented to Kareena. 

     

    India TV Yuva awards are given away every year to youth icons who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in their respective fields, that include politics, sports, music, films, television and business. The awards were instituted in 2013 to honour the most promising young faces of the nation.

    The winners were selected by a jury led by Sarod maestro Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, and included noted personalities like Prasoon Joshi, Vandana Luthra, Prof Pushpesh Pant and India TV Chairman & Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma. 

     

    Speaking about the awards, Ritu Dhawan, Managing Director & CEO of India TV highlighted her faith in Gen Y, “It is these icons who most certainly are making our country proud now & will keep doing so in the future, while they take India to a new high in the times to come. It is indeed an honour for us to honour the spirit of excellence.”

    MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi gears up for the festive season with a special Christmas and New Year line up.

    Hello Mumbai which airs every morning between 9 and 10 am, will have RJ Harsh conduct a fun Q&A session allowing listeners to win gifts. To participate in the show which will continue till 31 December, listeners will have to dial 40983983 or sms their answers to 8888.

    RJ Tarun will host a special Christmas Carol game show on the evening band Bumper to Bumper. The game would revolve around translating popular Christmas carols in Hindi and singing it on air. What’s more, Santa Claus will host the show with Tarun on 25 December. In addition to this, artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Vishal Dadlani, Daler Mehndi, the famous Petra Church Choir and a singing parrot of Singapore will sing Carols.

    As part of an on ground evevnt, on 23 December Santa Claus with his sack of goodies along with RJ’s from Radio Mirchi will visit The Shelter at Byculla, an orphanage run by Bombay Diocesese to celebrate Christmas with the children. They will distribute gifts; sing Christmas carols and Mirchi songs with the children. Listeners too will also be invited to be part of this party. While on the day of Christmas, Santa will visit popular spots in Mumbai city on the Mirchi canter and all those who locate him and wish him Mirch Meri Christmas will get a special gift.
    From December 26 to 30 December, Radio Mirchi will present the Mirchi Top 100 songs of the year from 7 to 9 pm and will be hosted by RJ Tarun and an anonymous ‘Boss’. On 30 and 31 December, there will be the wrap up of biggest events of the year with sound bytes of each event called 6-7 Mirchi ke Saath. While the big party will unfold on 31 December with non-stop dance tracks from 9 pm flowing into 9 am on 1 January 2007, informs an official release.

    For all those listeners who are keen to peep into the future, Radio Mirchi will bring the world famous Marjorie Orr on Indian radio for the first time. She will present Astro predictions for all sun signs from 26 December to 30 December. On 31 December Sanjay Jumani will also present his predictions for the year 2007 during a two hour special.
