  • 1702 Digital promotes Pranay Bhan to national creative director

    New Delhi: Integrated digital marketing company, 1702 Digital has promoted Pranay Bhan to the role of national creative director.

    Bhan will be responsible for elevating the creative wing of the agency and grooming mid-level talent along the way. The promotion comes on the heels of some successful campaigns like the Fortune Xpert and Superfood Khichdi launches, Edelweiss Tokio Life campaigns, Marico Cocosoul Influencer campaigns, Smaaash Video campaign, and new business growth under his supervision as the associate creative director, the agency said in a statement.

    1702 Digital co-founder, Mihir Joshi said, “It has been an absolute pleasure seeing Bhan evolve with 1702 Digital over the last three years. His dedication towards fine-tuning every strategy has helped us grow by leaps and bounds.   • L&K Saatchi & Saatchi ropes in Kanishka Vashisht as executive creative director

    New Delhi: L&K Saatchi & Saatchi strengthened its creative team on Monday with the appointment of Kanishka Vashisht as the executive creative director. Vashisht will be based out of New Delhi and will manage all brands for the region. He will report to L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, Joint national creative director, Rohit Malkani.

    Vashisht joins the agency from Lowe Lintas, Delhi where he was group creative director. His joining will strengthen the agency’s creative output and help create a unique culture – one that will thrive on creating superlative content & meaningful conversations for brands in the region, said the agency in a statement on Monday.

    Commenting on the appointment, Malkani said: “Finding the perfect person to head our New Delhi office wasn’t easy. It had to be someone who shared our obsession for spawning a unique culture, who shared our ambition for creating conversations and superlative content and finally, someone with a proven track record. In Kanishka, I saw all three. He is a unique creative person with his heart in the right place! It’s going to be a heck of a ride with him on board.” 

    Vashisht began his advertising journey as a suit in Triton Advertising, Delhi. But the creative spirit in him led him to switch over and join Ogilvy Delhi in 2004. After a five-year stint at the agency where he worked on brands like Motorola, KFC, LG, Eno, and others, he left to join Leo Burnett. As Uninor was born, he was then summoned to McCann Delhi to build relationships with Perfetti, Chevrolet, Coke, Aircel, Metlife, Greenlam, and others.

    After a five-year stint, Lowe Lintas Delhi came calling and got him to help conceive much more than just ideas for brands like Google, Micromax, Foodpanda, and Hindustan Times. He briefly took a sabbatical to explore his liking for a serene setting and left for the fields of southern France.

    Sharing his views on the opportunity that this role presents, he said, “I believe L&K Saatchi & Saatchi is an extremely fertile land for some very interesting brand work. My job is to sow the seeds of possibility, gather and nurture talent, and of course, reap the fruits of our combined efforts.”

    Kavita Kamath joins Wondrlab as group creative director

    Mumbai: India’s largest platform-first martech startup, Wondrlab, has bolstered its creative team. The startup has brought in Kavita Kamath as group creative director. In her new role, Kavita will report to Amit Akali, co-founder and chief creative officer at Wondrlab.

    At Wondrlab, she will lead creative integration and content creation on a large set of key accounts.

    Wondrlab co-founder & chief creative officer Amit Akali said: “Being platform-first, we’re a very different kind of a start-up and therefore hire people with unique skill sets. The coming days are full of opportunities and I am sure someone senior and experienced like Kavita will help us make the most of it. At her level, she’s not expected to bring just skillsets to the table but also a mindset. While she’s from an art background, she’s very comfortable handling a huge team. She has worked on tech platform brands like Google and done truly integrated work – more importantly, she believes in what we are trying to achieve here and is looking at it as an entrepreneurial opportunity. I’ve been in talks with her for a couple of years now and am looking forward to finally working with her. She’s going to be working out of Delhi and Mumbai, reporting to me. Here’s expecting a lot of ‘Wondr’ from her.”

    Kamath has nearly 16 years of experience, a large part of which she gathered at MullenLowe Lintas, where she spent a decade. She is a multiple award-winning creative, having worked on brands like Google Pay and Google Home, the tech brand that gave her platform-first exposure and experience. She has also worked closely on well-received campaigns such as the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour. Apart from these, she has also worked on key brands such as Pepsi, Slice, Tropicana juices, Vivo, Glenlivet, Hindustan Times, Wills Lifestyle, Dabur, GSK and Samsung, among several others.

    Wondrlab group creative director Kavita Kamath said, “There is a more holistic approach to marketing and brand communication now, and the way forward is integrated solutions to keep brand conversations going meaningfully. I had been following WYP’s work for some time.     Rakesh Jain joins Sony Pictures Networks India as creative director

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India has recently appointed Rakesh Jain as creative director. He joined the company in July 2020. Recently, he was one of the key people in launching FTA GEC Shemaroo TV during the pandemic.

    He comes with over 18 years of experience in the media space where he has led the programming teams from the inception stage and has launched two successful Hindi GECs. He has also been instrumental in creating channel driver properties for Star group, Zee group, and Turner group from the broadcasting ecosystem. Jain worked as a vertical head for the commissioning team of one of the flagship channels of ZEE Network (&TV), he was responsible for shaping the content strategy of the channel. His main task was to identify the viewing needs of consumers and shaping stories and content to meet their expectations.

    Jain comes with a great experience of launching GEC channels. He earlier served as associate vice-president in &TV, and helmed the team of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain at the time of its inception. Jain was responsible for revamp of a GEC Channel on STAR network twice.  

    From 2001 to 2007, Jain worked in Star Plus as the executive producer and from 2007 till the day Imagine TV shut down, he held the position of the deputy creative director. Jain, who was in Sameer Nair’s core team during the days of Imagine TV’s inception, has also worked as a creative director for JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia’s Hats Off Productions. He had joined the studio in May   2012 and worked till August 2013

    For the uninitiated Ramayan happened to be his first show on Imagine, and he went on to work with various shows like Jyoti, Chandragupta Maurya, Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhungaa. He also worked on a show called Ganga – a family drama dealing with the prejudice against widows in one of the holiest places in India – Varanasi. Later, he took up the role of editor – vice president at Life OK in 2015.

    MUMBAI: Further strengthening its proposition in India, Fox Networks Group (FNG) has announced a new leadership structure in the product team. Aparna Deshmukh has joined as the vice-president (content and communications) and will be responsible for channel strategy and operations for all FNG brands in India.

    This restructure is to help drive a unified vision and renewed focus of the FNG portfolio of channels in India. This new focus will be driven through three main pillars – the channel and brand strategy, on air communication and original productions.

    “I am delighted to have such a power-packed product leadership team in Aparna, Sanjay and Shruti. Our channels are witnessing some of the biggest and most exciting changes in decades that will redefine genre and consumer expectations and habits. We have instituted this new structure to help drive disproportionate growth for FNG’s bouquet of global brands by keeping them locally relevant and fresh for the viewer and also making them a strategic choice for the advertiser,” said Fox Networks Group India business head Swati Mohan.

    Deshmukh comes with over 17 years of experience in brand strategy and marketing across categories of consumer, services and technology. She has had stints at Hindustan Unilever, HSBC, Microsoft India, Carlsberg and Adidas. She will focus on content programming and acquisition, consumer and trade marketing, localization and key partnerships across all verticals.

    Moreover, Sanjay Ramachandran, who joined in November last year from Turner APAC, will continue to serve as head – creative services; broadcast design and on air communication for all channel brands.

    Shruti Takulia, on the other hand, will also continue in her role as creative director – original productions. In the past two and a half years at FNG, Takulia and her team have created award winning original content for both Nat Geo and Fox Life that have travelled across the globe and across multiple platforms. Prior to FNG, she has spearheaded content development functions at Reliance BIG Productions and Endemol India, having started her creative journey in television with MTV.

    Hotstar ropes in iRock’s Siddhartha Jain as creative director – original content

    MUMBAI: Star India’s video on demand platform Hotstar has leapfrogged towards original content creation by appointing iRock Production’s Siddhartha Jain as creative director – original content.

     

    Jain will report to Star India digital head Ajit Mohan.

     

    A source close to the development tells Indiantelevision.com, “Hotstar is aggressively marching forward towards original content and the appointment is a testimony of that.”

     

    Jain, is a serial entrepreneur and film producer. He headed iRock Films India and produced the horror film Ragini MMS.

    Prior to starting iRock with former Adlabs Films chairman Manmohan Shetty, Jain worked at Adlabs for two years. He also produced Marigold – the Salman Khan and Ali Larter starrer US-India film, directed by Willard Carroll, with Hyperion Studio (USA).

    With over 15 years of experience, Darji joins DDB Mudra Group, from BBH India. He’s worked with agencies such as McCann Erickson, Ogilvy, Rediffusion Y&R and Bates 141 and has worked on world renowned brands such as Coca Cola, NDTV, Western Union, WWF, Incredible India, Fevicol, Cadbury, Tata Nano, Virgin Mobile, Skoda, CRY, TVS Wego, Marico, Vaseline and Vat 69.

     

    This is Darji’s second stint with DDB Mudra Group.  Darji said, “DDB Mudra is undergoing a transformation and it’s always great to be a part of change.     Vikram Gaikwad quits Creativeland Asia

    MUMBAI: After six years in Creativeland Asia, Vikram Gaikwad has put down his papers as partner and executive creative director.

    He has been with the agency since its inception in 2007.  Gaikwad said, “I am very proud of what we have achieved at Creativeland in a very short time. With the coming of the New Year, I have decided to move on and make time for my other areas of interests. My heart and good wishes will always be with Creativeland and I hope they get every success they deserve.”

    Commenting on the development, Creativeland Asia founder and creative chairman Sajan Raj Kurup said, “Vikram has been a great friend and an incredible support in my journey.
