    Byju’s ropes in Mrinall Dey as VP –Corporate Communications

    MUMBAI: Edtech major, Byju’s has onboarded Mrinall Dey as vice president-Corporate Communications. He announced the development on his LinkedIn page through a post.

    Dey will be responsible for developing a comprehensive corporate communications plan that will reinforce the company’s aims, aspirations, business objectives, and influence. He will report to Paroma Roy Chowdhury, chief communications officer in this newly created position, and work closely with Chowdhury in building the company’s media strategy and crisis communications. He will also serve as a strategic advisor to BYJU’S founders.

    Earlier, Dey served a stint at Weber Shandwick as senior vice president & head-media strategy.

    Previously, he held the position of AVP – Public Affairs & Communications at American Express Banking Corp, where he served a stint of over eight years. He has also been associated with companies such as Pepsico India and Bharti Airtel in the corporate communications space.

    An alumnus of IIM- Lucknow, Dey is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in driving internal and external marketing and corporate communications within a fast-paced environment. He has expertise in designing communications strategies, content management, and execution of public relations & CSR programmes.

    Airtel Payments Bank names Shilpi Kapoor as chief marketing officer

    Mumbai: Airtel Payments Bank roped in Shilpi Kapoor as its new chief marketing officer. She will oversee the marketing and corporate communication function for the bank.

    Shilpi has over 19 years of progressive experience in brand management, sales and marketing, BFSI, telecom, auto and FMCG brands. In her last stint, she was with American Express as director of marketing, where she led the brand strategy and communications. 

    Shilpi would be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring the overall business marketing strategy. She would also overlook market research, pricing, product marketing, marketing communications, advertising and public relations.

    Shilpi will join as a member of the bank’s executive committee and will be working closely with the bank’s managing director and CEO Anubrata Biswas.

    Biswas said, “I am very pleased to welcome Shilpi to Airtel Payments Bank’s leadership team. Shilpi’s vast experience across different industries combined with her deep understanding of consumer, digital and business-to-business marketing will play a vital role in further strengthening the bank’s differentiated position.”

    Shilpi is an alumnus of Amity University and has completed special programs in leadership excellence and digital marketing from Harvard Business School and Northwestern Kellogg University.

    In this role, Varman will be responsible for defining a media investment plan to drive maximum ROI for Wow Skin Science, Wow Life Science and Body Cupid. “His role will also entail amplifying the corporate communications for all the brands through brand awareness, brand messaging and capitalising on opportunities to elevate the positioning of the brands,” said the company in a statement.

    He has led both offline and digital media to drive integrated media planning and delivered investment strategies for clients like TVS Motor Company, Cadbury, and Flipkart. He also led the media and brand PR for Himalaya Wellness Company prior to joining Wow Skin Science.

    Disney Star onboards George Cherian as corporate communications & CSR head

    Mumbai: Disney Star on Monday announced the appointment of George Cherian as head of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the market. Cherian will report to The Walt Disney Company and Star India country manager and president K Madhavan and will join the India leadership team that drives Disney Star businesses in the country, said the statement.

    In this role, Cherian will be responsible for overseeing all strategic communications and CSR efforts for the Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution (DMED) business in the country which includes television network, streaming platform, and studios. 

    “We are at an exciting juncture of our growth story and strongly believe that communication is one of the key drivers in establishing a brand’s stature,” said K Madhavan. “As the country’s leading media, entertainment and digital network, we have a strong and compelling story to tell.     Cherian brings to bear over 25 years of experience as a financial journalist and a communications professional. He previously served at Deutsche Bank Group India as director and head of group communications where he led all brand and communications activities for the bank’s various businesses in the country. Prior to that, he headed communications for Barclays in the Asia Pacific region. As a journalist, Cherian was a part of the founding teams of Bloomberg TV India and ET Now and he also worked with The Economic Times.
