    Chrome Week 21: English News channels top gainers; Sports top the loser list

    MUMBAI: The English News channels genre continued to hold its top place in Chrome’s opportunity to see (OTS) analysis for the eight metros. This space marked an increase of 0.9 percent and saw Lok Sabha TV as the leader with 88.9 percent OTS in week 21.

    The second spot was secured by the Religious genre with 0.7 percent gain among Hindi Speaking Market (HSM). Aastha topped with 96.7 percent OTS. Music in HSM took the third spot in the list of top gainers with 0.5 percent increase in OTS. 9 XM led the tally with 89.3 percent OTS.

    Hindi GEC in HSM also noted a growth of 0.1 percent. DD National emerged as the chart topper with 97.7 per cent OTS.

    Sports witnessed a drop of 1.1 percent in all India; it topped the loser category with DD Sports scoring 85.9 percent OTS. With a drop of 1.0 per cent. The English Entertainment channels genre in six metros booked the second spot. Comedy Central emerged as the most affected channel with 50.5 percent OTS.

    The English Movies category in six metros also observed a decline of 0.8 percent. Movies Now topped the list with 51.2 percent OTS. The last spot was taken by the Kids genre with a drop of 0.7 percent in all India. Nickelodeon grabbed the top position with 77.1 percent OTS.

    MUMBAI: Comedy Central regained its first position in the English entertainment genre, while Zee Café saw a major downfall. Movies Now secured its number one spot in English movies genre. According to week 13 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India ratings across 6 Mega Cities: NCCS AB: 4+ Individuals, the English entertainment space witnessed a decline in the ratings this week.

    English Entertainment

    Comedy Central stood at the number one position with 192 (‘000s) while AXN climbed up the row with 149 (‘000s) to the second place. The third position was secured by Star World with 144 (‘000s) while Zee Café held the forth position with 125 (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD grabbed the fifth position with 86 (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Movies Now continued its stay at the first place with 3378 (‘000s). Star Movies with 2828 (‘000s) and Sony Pix with 1621 (‘000s) grabbed the second and the third positions respectively. Zee Studio secured the fourth position with 1361 (‘000s) followed by HBO with 1295 (‘000s) at the fifth place.

According to week 11 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the English GEC space observed a decline in the ratings.

    Meanwhile, the English movies space saw a mixed bag of ratings in this week’s data.

    Comedy Central witnessed a downfall in ratings but maintained its first position with 217 (‘000s) as compared to 302 (‘000s) in week 10. Star World toppled AXN securing the second position with 157 (‘000s) followed by AXN with 155 (‘000s). Zee Cafe with 133 (‘000s) and Colors Infinity SD with 59 (‘000s) secured the fourth and fifth position respectively.

    Movies Now continued at its number one spot observing an increase in the ratings with 4143 (‘000s) as compared to 2969 (‘000s) in week 10. Star Movies saw a decline in the ratings but maintained its second position with 2344 (‘000s). Zee Studio climbed up the row grabbing the third slot with 1727 (‘000s)  from fifh place in week 10, followed by Sony Pix at the fourth position with 1531 (‘000s).  HBO bagged the fifth position with 1475 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: With 20 March marking the International Day of Happiness, Comedy Central and VH1 will celebrate the special occasion by spreading smiles to its viewers.

    Comedy Central will air special back to back episodes of famous shows like Telenovela, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mindy Project from11 am, while, VH1 will curate 100 happy songs in Vh1 100 Shades of Happy giving the viewers that endorphin boost on a rainy day starting from 8 am.

    Telenovela is an American sitcom that shows comedy behind the scenes of a telenovela and its star, whose off-camera life rivals the drama of her onscreen story lines. The show stars Eva Longoria, Jencarlos Canela and Diana Maria Riva, Amaury Nolasco, Jose Moreno Brooks, Jadyn Douglas and Alex Meneses.

    Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows a team of detectives headed by the newly appointed Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher). Among the detectives is Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), who frequently tops the squad in collars despite his relaxed, carefree attitude, much to the annoyance of his more by-the-book colleague, Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero).

    The Mindy Project is an American romantic comedy television series on a young obstetrician/gynaecologist balancing her personal and professional life surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office.
