    MUMBAI: The English entertainment genre was dominated by Comedy Central whereas Movies Now ruled in the English movies’ genre. According to the week 39 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Data (BARC) India, Discovery Channel continued to rule the infotainment space whereas Living Foodz stood at the number one position in the lifestyle genre.

    English Entertainment

    Comedy Central stood at the number one position with 489 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Zee Cafe with 297 Impressions (‘000s) in the second place. The third position is secured by AXN with 183 Impressions (‘000s) while Colors Infinity SD held the fourth position with 147 Impressions (‘000s). Star World took the fifth spot with 114 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Movies Now continued to stay in the first place with 3235 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Sony Pix with 3132 Impressions (‘000s). Star Movies with 2718 Impressions (‘000s) grabbed the third positions. HBO secured the fourth position with 1707 Impressions (‘000s) followed be Zee Studio with 1465 Impressions (‘000s) in the fifth place.

    Infotainment

    Discovery Channel dominated the space with 5037 Impressions (‘000s) followed by History TV 18 at the second spot with 4138 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet with 3517 Impressions (‘000s) and National Geographic Channel with 3430 Impressions (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively.     MUMBAI: Comedy Central is all geared to take the viewers on a laughter riot with its new line-up. In a first of its kind initiative, the channel, apart from its remarkable shows, will air stunning movies. Apart from all-time-favorites-F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Mom, Community, The Mindy Project, Awkward, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon- shows like The Detour, Crowded, Man with a Plan, The Great Indoors, etc will be also be added to the line-up.

    New seasons will be added for the shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dr. Ken, and The Graham Norton Show.

    CC Blockbustered, the channel’s movie slot, has an electrifying movie line-up with Grown Ups 2, The Ugly Truth, Sleepless in Seattle, Anger Management, Bewitched, etc. The films would air on Sunday afternoons 12 pm onwards, with a primetime repeat at 9 pm.

We’ve decided to enter October with some fantastic watch with the world shows and some all-time favorites. We’ve also decided to amplify our engagement with our viewers through their most loved movies. By introducing these blockbusters in our line-up, we aim to continue to spread more happiness and cheer,” said Viacom18 youth and English entertainment head of programming Hashim D’Souza.

    The channel will air the fourth season of cop show Brooklyn Nine-Nine on 1 October at 8 pm followed by second season of Dr Ken, a multi camera sitcom based on his experience as a doctor prior to becoming a stand-up comedian at 8:30 pm. The 20th season of The Graham Norton Show, a British comedy celebrity chat show will be aired on 8 October at 10 pm. Matt LeBlanc’s comedy series Man with a Plan will be premiered on 29 October at 9 pm. Following that will be Joel McHales’ The Great Indoors which is based around the online team of so-called journalists at 9:30 pm.

    The on-road comedy series The Detour will be premiered on 5 October at 10 pm, while the American sitcom Crowded will be broadcasted on 14 October at 10.30 pm. The Mindy Project season 1 to 4 will be makes its way back to the channel and will be premiered from 19 October 9 pm. Season 1-5 of Awkward will be aired at 9:30 pm whereas The Jim Gaffigan Show will air at 10 pm.

    The channel’s festival special programming for Diwali will be celebrated with shows like The Carmichael Show on 29 and 30 October 4 pm onwards. Its Halloween special is wacked with the entire third season of Deadbeat on 31 October 10 am onwards.

    Chrome Week 35- English Movies genre registers two percent rise

    MUMBAI: The English movies genre emerged as the gainer in Chrome’s opportunity to see (OTS) analysis in six metros cities by registering an increase of two per cent. Movies Now was the leader with 47.2 per cent OTS in week 35.

    Next up, the English entertainment genre with a 1.7 per cent gain in the same market took the second spot in the list of top gainers. Comedy Central led the tally with 46.0 per cent OTS.

    The Business news channels’ genre in the same market too noted a growth of 1.7 per cent with CNBC Awaaz emerging as the chart topper with 82.4 per cent OTS.

    Last but not the least, Religious channels in the Hindi speaking market observed a 0.7 per cent rise with Aastha in the number one slot with 97.9 per cent OTS.

    Meanwhile, witnessing a drop of 1.8 per cent, the English News channels’ genre in the six metros topped the loser category with Lok Sabha TV scoring 92.5 per cent OTS.

    On the other hand, with a drop of 1.1 per cent, the Hindi GEC genre in HSM was in the second spot with Star Utsav registering a 97.1 per cent OTS.

    The Hindi Movies genre in an identical market recorded 1.1 per cent drop with Max a scoring a 92.5 per cent OTS. With the drop of 0.6 per cent Music genre in same market stood last in the list with 9 XM in the number one slot with 90.2 per cent OTS.

    After covering the Prime Minister’s address to the nation, flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events, patriotic songs in Hindi and regional languages are played on news and radio channels. Hindi movie channels air patriotic or Indian classic films throughout the day.

FX will air a day-long marathon of season 3 of that 70s show starring Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Laura Prepon and Wilmer Valderrama from 10 am to 7pm.

    Set in the mid-late 1970s, the show follows the daily lives of six teenagers. The head of the group is Eric Forman played by Topher Grace who lives under the authority of parents Red and Kitty. Living next door is his girlfriend Donna Pinciotti enacted by Laura Prepon and her parents Bob and Midge. The rest of the gang includes Fez played by Wilmer Valderrama, Jackie Burkhart enacted by Mila Kunis, her boyfriend Michael Kelso played by Ashton Kutcher and Dany Masterson playing the role of Steven Hyde.

    The gang usually spends its time in Eric’s basement, thinking of their lives, parents, and futures, but they manage to get into funny adventures and mishaps along the way through their teenage lives. The season 3 begins with Hyde getting out of the jail, but Red is now on a strict warpath. Despite a few missteps, Eric and Donna’s relationship makes strides as they begin to imagine their futures together. Eric also makes progress at work — as does Donna — but Donna also discovers some painful truths about her dad. Jackie sets her sights on a resisting Hyde, while Kelso makes a concerted effort to win her back. Fez finally gets a girlfriend, Caroline, who turns out to be crazy. Eric and Kelso decide to take their relationships with Donna and Jackie to the next level, but with unforeseeable results.

    The channel will showcase the best of Hollywood in a special Fight to Freedom property showcasing movies that inspire the feeling of freedom and the struggle one has to go through to claim it. The movie marathon will air from 1 pm to 9 pm.

    The movies scheduled for the day include inspiring tales of freedom struggle, with titles like: Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, 300: Rise of an Empire, and Edge of Tomorrow.

    Man of Steel, the movie narrates the story of an inconspicuous super-human, who is forced to fight his own race to save planet Earth. The movie Pacific Rim, is an intense war drama between humans and monsters and the responsibility has fallen upon a former pilot and a trainee, who are desperately trying to save the world from the apocalypse. The next movie on the binge is 300: Rise of an Empire. It’s a tale of courage, where an admiral of Athens leads the pack of just 300 brave men who stand up against the vast Persian army that is marching to conquer Greece.

    ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ is another exciting alien story and a fight of one soldier to win a war against aliens, despite set-backs of starting all over again, every time he dies.

    The channel will kickstart their #IamFlawsome campaign through a very crucial episode that will be played out on Girls on Top. An upcoming sequence will see the character of Gia Sen standing up for a bar dancer who is looked down upon because of her profession. Seeing injustice taking place in front of her, Gia will stand up for the girl and remind them of the fact that, just because someone belongs to a certain background, it does not mean they are not talented.

    Speaking about the same, Barkha Singh who plays the character of Gia Sen, shared, “We live in the progressive era but sadly people’s thoughts and mentality is still regressive.
