    Twitter gets abuzz with Brazil versus Columbia match

    MUMBAI: The battle that saw Columbia being sent home by the five time world football champions Brazil, has turned out to be the second most tweeted match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup season.

    There were a total of 12.4 million tweets during the Brazil vs Columbia quarter final match that pitted Brazil in the semi-finals against Germany. The first most tweeted match so far has been Brazil vs Chile which witnessed 16.4 million tweets.

    The most tweeted moments of the match  were when David Luiz scored the first goal  in a free kick receiving 2, 59,352  tweets per minute. The second most tweeted moment was when Brazil defeated Columbia in a 2-1 finish receiving 2,23,004 tweets per minute. The third most tweeted moment was when James Rodriguez of Columbia scored a lone goal for his team on a penalty kick. This goal received 1,78,477 tweets per minute on the micro blogging site.

    The most mentioned player of the match was Brazil’s NeymarJr. This is not surprising since the Colombian defender Juan Zuniga kneed the 22-year-old in a crunching tackle and the Barcelona player was stretchered off in agony in the closing minutes of the game.

     

    He has now been ruled out of the game due to fractured vertebrae, disappointing fans all over the world. The other two most mentioned players of the Brazilian team were David Luiz and Thiago Silva. The top three mentioned players of the Columbian team were James Rodriguez, Juan Cuadrado and David Ospina.

    Columbia Pictures begins development on ‘Bad Teacher’ sequel

    MUMBAI: Columbia Pictures is developing Bad Teacher 2, to be directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Justin Malen, it was announced today by Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad and Hannah Minghella, president of Production for the studio. Jimmy Miller, Jake Kasdan, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky will produce the film, and Melvin Mar will be the executive producer. The project is being developed for Cameron Diaz to star in the film but no deal is yet set with the actress.

    Commenting on the announcement, Minghella said, “Bad Teacher was a hit not just in North America, but throughout the world. We‘re excited that Jake will be returning to develop and helm the sequel. We love Justin‘s take on the material – it hits all the notes that made the first film such a breakthrough hit and also takes the characters in a new direction that is fresh and fun.”

    When it was released in 2011, Bad Teacher was a global hit taking in $216 million. It was also recently announced that Bad Teacher will be coming to CBS television next season in a half-hour series starring Ari Graynor. The Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios co-production received a 13-episode midseason order.

    Columbia Pictures senior VP production Jonathan Kadin will oversee development of the project for the studio along with Minghella.

    Jake Kasdan is in pre-production on Sony Pictures‘ Sex Tape, also starring Cameron Diaz, with Jason Segel. He most recently directed and executive produced episodes of the hit series New Girl. Kasdan made his feature film debut as writer and director of Zero Effect and also directed the pilots for the television series Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared;returning to feature films, he directed Orange County, wrote, directed and produced The TV Set, co-wrote and directed Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and directed and executive produced Bad Teacher.

    Justin Malen‘s feature film screenplay Bastards was named on The Black List of one of the best unproduced screenplays in 2011. He also completed a rewrite of the comedy project The Manny for Red Wagon and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

    Malen is represented by Verve and H2F, and Eisenberg and Stupnitsky are repped by Mosaic and WME. Kasdan is represented by WME.

    Columbia to spin a couple more Amazing Spiderman movies-2016-2018

    MUMBAI: Columbia‘s Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spiderman took in over $750 million at the worldwide box office last year paving a successful lead to an entire franchise reboot. A lot of buzz has been surrounding The Amazing Spiderman 2 which is under production and is slated for a May 2, 2014 release.
     
    While the cast remains the same, with Andrew Garfield masking on the spidey suit as Marvel‘s Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Marc Webb helming the sequel, a lot of new introductions to the cast is in the process, including Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson.

    It is reported that the studio has affirmed two more superhero Spidey movies following the 2014 sequel.
     
    Sony worldwide marketing and distribution chairman Jeff Blake said today that, “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we‘re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”
     
    The cloud on the main cast and crew remains unclear, but as per Sony‘s release the dates have been locked on already. The next two films in the story of Peter Parker will be released on June 10, 2016, and on May 4, 2018, respectively announced Blake in the release. The crew of the Stan Lee Marvel Comic adapted superhero movies will include Stan Lee and Steve Ditko producing while E. Bennett Walsh, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci being the executive producers.
