    COLORS Odia announces film festival to boost afternoon band

    Mumbai: In a bid to boost its afternoon-time band, COLORS Odia is coming up with a film festival focussing on wholesome family entertainment. The offering includes super hit films and a slew of premieres airing every afternoon.

    The channel will telecast two back-to-back films at 12 noon and 6 p.m on weekends as part of ‘Sunday Blockbuster’ and ‘Superhit Shanivaar’ programming; ‘Houseful Dwipahar’ will see films being aired every weekday from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. The regional channel is also planning to launch film premieres in the coming months.

    “Afternoon band is the ‘me time’ for many viewers and we believe that introducing super hit Odia films is the best method to make further inroads into our viewers’ homes,” said COLORS Odia’s programming head, Srija Shahin Sidhartha. “At COLORS Odia, we constantly endeavour to reinvent ourselves and with this, we offer viewers an opportunity to enjoy compelling content.”

    ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ goes regional; premieres 18 August on COLORS Odia

    Mumbai: COLORS is bringing the iconic show “Sasural Simar Ka” to its regional GEC, COLORS Odia, repackaged as “Sasu Gharai Chalijibi” for the Odia audience. The show which entertained the audience for seven years, will premiere on the channel from 18 August airing every day at 6:30 p.m.

    Sasu Gharai Chalijibi is a family drama that revolves around the lives of two sisters from Puri, Simar (played by Dipika Kakar) and Roli (Avika Gor), who are respectively married to Prem and Siddhant, the sons of the Pattnaik family. The plot revolves around them becoming the perfect daughters-in-law by overcoming various difficulties that arise in front of the family.

    Commenting on the development, COLORS Odia programming head, Srija Shahin Sidhartha said, “At COLORS Odia we try to bring the best of network shows in local language for our audiences. ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ is a show that captured the hearts of people. We are excited to bring the most favourite show and we hope the story can give the Oriya viewers more entertainment in coming days.”

    Colors Odia launches new show ‘Raajnandini’

    Mumbai: Colors Odia, the regional entertainment channel from the house of Viacom 18, on Monday announced the launch of its new show Raajnandini. The women-centric drama will air every day at 6 pm and 10 pm, starting 26 July.

    Raajnandini is the story of two daughters-in-law Ahalya and Meera who are polar opposites. While Ahalya is the ideal daughter-in-law, the plot revolves around the life and struggles of Meera who, with all her flaws, takes on the responsibility of saving her family from ruin when the situation arises.

    Commenting on the show launch, Colors Odia, programming head, Srija Shahin said, “At Colors Odia our endeavour is to showcase content that is engaging and thought provoking. We are planning to get the best shows from our network in local language for our audiences. This story focuses on the relationship between two daughter-in laws, and we are confident that viewers will love it.”
