    Family drama ‘Radha Ramana’ to replace s4 of Bigg Boss Kannada

    BENGALURU: As season 4 of Bigg Boss Kannada draws to finale on 15 January, Viacom 18’s Kannada GEC Colors Kannada has lined up a bitter-sweet tale about a brother and sister to replace the Endemol Shine India game show. Titled Radha Ramana, initially the soap will run for 1 hour from 16 January until January 30.

    The length of the serial, 15 episodes of which have been canned, has not been decided as of now say sources at the channel. Colors Kannada has roped in Godrej’s repellent brand Good Knight as the powered by sponsor.

    The GEC has been promoting the Bengaluru filmed show to viewers in multiple ways that include through promos, by integrating its characters with two of its popular family shows Kulavadhu and Agnishakshi, among others. The promotions include cross-channel ads on Kannada news channels one week prior to the launch, magazine, newspaper and radio ads, bus branding in Bengaluru and hoardings in rest of Karnataka.

    A release from the channel describes the new series – ‘Radha Ramana captures the emotional journey of two pairs of siblings, Raman and Anvitha, and Aditya and Aradhana. The story revolves around Raman and his love for his sister, Anvitha who is the apple of his eye. The show will see Shwetha Pradeep (Aradhana) and Skandha (Ramana) playing the leads and is produced by Neela Production’. Radha Ramna is being directed by Shiva Poojena Agrahara.

    Elaborating on the same, Colors Kannada, Colors Kannada HD and Colors Super business head Parameshwar Gundkal said, “Our fiction offerings boast of a rich, diverse and engaging content palette that is both reflective and progressive. At a time when most relationships are losing their meaning, Radha Ramana is a positive story that introspects and focuses on bonds that we are bestowed with as we enter the world. The show has been made with a lot of heart and the characters have been beautifully etched. We are certain that it’ll strike a chord with the viewers.”

    BARC 4: Regional channel leaders maintain status quo

    MUMBAI: There were no major shifts in week 4 of BARC ratings as far as the regional television channels were concerned. Most of the channels retained their position in week 4 as compared to last week.

    Star Jalsa (Bengali), Bhojpuri Cinema (Bhojpuri), Colors Kanada (Kanada), Asianet (Malayalam), Zee Marathi (Marathi), Sarthak TV (Oriya), Sun TV (Tamil) and ETV Telugu (Telugu) all managed to maintain their hold in their respective genres.

    Bangla GECs

    Star Jalsa bagged the first position with 249017 (‘000s) followed by Zee Bangla in the second place with 148726 (‘000s). Jalsa Movies gained the third position with 59127 (‘000s) followed by Colors Bangla with 29694 (‘000s) and Zee Bangla Cinema with 29568 (‘000s) in week 4.

    Bhojpuri GECs

    Bhojpuri Cinema retained its leadership position with 17459 (‘000s) followed by Big Magic Ganga with 13807 (‘000s). Dabangg retained its third place with 7559 (‘000s) followed in the fourth rung by Dangal TV with 6358 (‘000s). ETV Bihar Jharkhand retained the fifth position with 2877 (‘000s).

    Kannada GECs

    In week 4, Colors Kanada retained its first position with 296182 (‘000s) followed by Zee Kannada with 145618 (‘000s). On the other hand, Suvarna grabbed the third slot with 139926 (‘000s), while Udaya Movies was in the fourth slot with 134633 (‘000s). Udaya TV grabbed the fifth slot with 127689 (‘000s)

    Malayalam GECs

    Asianet retained its pole position with 342404 (‘000s) followed by Mazhavil Manorama with 110924 (‘000s) in the second spot. Flowers TV grabbed the third position with 76456 (‘000s), whereas Surya TV was in fourth place with 69935 (‘000s). Following it in the fifth place was Asianet Movies with 60615 (‘000s).

    Marathi GECs

    Zee Marathi was perched in the first position with 158815 (‘000s) followed by Colors Marathi with 87026 (‘000s). Zee Talkies grabbed third position with 67312 (‘000s) followed by Star Pravah in the fourth slot with 57249 (‘000s) and Maiboli in the fifth slot with 24362 (‘000s).

    Oriya GECs

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position with 104840 (‘000s) followed by Tarang TV with 58338 (‘000s) in the second position. Colors Oriya secured the third position with 20685 (‘000s), whereas Odisha TV retained its fourth position with 15175 (‘000s). Prarthana followed with 9527 (‘000s) in the fifth spot.

    Sun TV continued its stranglehold on the first spot with 940017 (‘000s) followed by KTV with 266467 (‘000s) whereas Star Vijay retained its third position with 205750 (‘000s). Zee Tamil remained in fourth position with 83468 (‘000s), while Polimer with 80920 (‘000s) took the fifth berth.

    Telugu GECs

    ETV Telugu retained its first position with 425580 (‘000s) followed by Zee Telugu with 386308 (‘000s). Maa TV grabbed the third spot with 375080 (‘000s), Gemini TV with 279266 (‘000s) took the fourth berth and was followed by Gemini Movies with 198629 (‘000s) in the fifth berth.

    Colors Kannada, Asianet, Sarthak TV & Sun TV gain: BARC week 1

    MUMBAI: Though genre leaders like Star Jalsha, Zee Marathi, Bhojpuri Cinema and ETV Telugu witnessed a fall in ratings, they continued to dominate their respective genres in week 1 according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India ratings.

     

    On the other hand, channels like Colors Kannada, Asianet, Sarthak TV and Sun TV saw a rise in ratings and secured leadership position in their respective genres in week 1. 

     

    Bangala GECs

     

    Though the Bangala GEC leader Star Jalsha witnessed a fall in ratings, it grabbed the top position in the genre with 240378 (‘000s) in week 1 as against 265939 (‘000s) in week 52 followed by Zee Bangla in the second place with 153485 (‘000s). Jalsha Movies was perched on the third rung with 65645 (‘000s), while Zee Bangla Cinema grabbed the fourth berth with 31141 (‘000s) and Colors Bangla was fifth with 31118 (‘000s).

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    Bhojpuri Cinema led the Bhojpuri genre with 19073 (‘000s) followed by Big Magic Ganga in the number two position with 17787 (‘000s) and Dabangg on third spot with 9118 (‘000s). Dangal TV with 7801 (‘000s) and ETV Bihar Jharkhand with 4141 (‘000s) grabbed the fourth and fifth slot respectively.

     

    Kannada GECs

     

    Colors Kannada continued to lead the Kannada GECs genre and was in the first position with 276078 (‘000s) followed by Udaya Movies in the second slot with 154322 (‘000s). On the other hand, Uday TV fell to the third spot with 140487 (‘000s). On the other hand, Suvarna stood in the fourth position with 134771 (‘000s) and Zee Kannada was down to the fifth position with 133458 (‘000s).

     

    Malayalam GECs

     

    Witnessing a rise in ratings, Asianet led the genre and came out on top with 378813 (‘000s) in week 1 as against 327333 (‘000s) in last week of 2015 followed by Mazhavil Manorama in the second position with 99669 (‘000s) and Surya TV in the third spot with 74005 (‘000s). Flower TV grabbed the fourth spot with 73816 (‘000s), whereas Asianet Movies stood in the fifth position with 52852 (‘000s).

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    In week 1, Zee Marathi saw a fall in ratings but maintained its top position with 165110 (‘000s). Colors Marathi grabbed the second slot with 93040 (‘000s), while Zee Talkies stood at number three with 66102 (‘000s). Star Pravah garnered the fourth slot with 44311 (‘000s) and Maiboli was at number five with 22545 (‘000s).

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV saw a rise in ratings and secured the leadership position in the genre with 109578 (‘000s) in week 1 as against 94391 (‘000s) in week 52. Tarang TV followed behind to grab the second spot with 61413 (‘000s), while Colors Oriya came third with 18882 (‘000s). Odisha TV fell to the fourth position with 17010 (‘000s), while Prarthana with 11380 (‘000s) grabbed the fifth berth.

     

    Tamil GECs

     

    Market leader Sun TV led the Tamil regional genre and grabbed pole position with 1046602 (‘000s) followed by KTV with 277982 (‘000s) in the second spot. Star Vijay with 181191 (‘000s) stood in the third position. Polimer grabbed the fourth spot with 96146 (‘000s), whereas J Movie with 72131 (‘000s) grabbed the fifth spot.

     

    Telugu GECs

     

     

    ETV Telugu emerged as the number one channel in Telugu GECs genre with 413525 (‘000s) followed by Maa TV in the second spot with 373558 (‘000s). Zee Telugu captured the third place with 359755 (‘000s), while Gemini TV with 281966 (‘000s) bagged fourth place. Gemini Movies with 187321(‘000s) stood at number five.
