    Colgate unveils New Colgate Total

MUMBAI: Colgate has re-launched its multi-benefit toothpaste Colgate Total with a new proprietary DZA formula that provides superior protection not just to the teeth, but to the whole mouth. The New Colgate Total helps fight germs on teeth, tongue, cheeks, and gums for up to 12 hours, thereby offering a complete oral care protection.

To spread awareness for the new relaunched product, the overall campaign theme is that of an 'Upgrade' since consumers today upgrade every aspect of their life when there is a better solution available, however when it comes to oral health they are still thinking only of teeth. The new Colgate Total, therefore, encourages one to 'Upgrade to Whole Mouth Health'.

Taking from the campaign theme of oral care 'Upgrade to Whole Mouth Health’, the brand is set to launch a fun addition in the form of a parody with the objective of making oral care related conversations more enjoyable and engaging conversation for the consumers. For this, Colgate has got on board some of the most relevant yet fun opinion leaders like The Singing Dentist – a UK-based dentist named Milad Shadrooh known for making parodies of popular songs to make dentistry fun, celebrity trainer Yasmin Karachiwala, actor and stand-up comic Manish Paul, and actress Pranita Subhash.

As a part of this campaign, The Singing Dentist has for the first time attempted a famous Bollywood number in his quintessential, witty parody style to underline the need for ‘whole mouth health’, which Colgate Total guarantees.

MS Dhoni, together with wife Sakshi Dhoni, shares his smile & stories of inner strength in the latest TVC for Colgate’s ‘Andar Se Strong’ campaign

MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, the market leader in Oral Care, launched a new TVC featuring cricketer MS Dhoni, along with wife Sakshi Dhoni, as part of Colgate Strong Teeth’s ‘Andar Se Strong’ campaign, which emphasizes that Colgate Strong Teeth toothpaste adds natural calcium to one’s teeth, thereby making the teeth strong from within.

In his characteristic calm style, the sports supernova – while sharing the screen space with his wife – talked about his inner strength that helped him in both his personal and professional journey. Speaking about getting through tough times and making demanding decisions, Dhoni recalled the time his daughter Ziva was born – while he led the Indian team during the World Cup. The couple talks about how it was an extremely hard choice that Dhoni made to stay with the team and focus on the challenge at hand — a display of his inner strength.

Mr. Issam Bachaalani, Managing Director, Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited said, “The ‘Colgate Andar Se Strong’ campaign further reinforces our commitment to providing the most advanced oral care solutions to meet the everyday needs of Indian consumers. MS Dhoni is an exemplary personality and we are proud of his association with Colgate. We launched the ‘Colgate Andar Se Strong’ campaign on our flagship brand Colgate Strong Teeth, with Deepika Padukone and MS Dhoni as the ambassadors, who speak of how their smile reflects their inner strength… and how it helps them go forth in challenging times.

As a brand, Colgate Strong Teeth toothpaste adds natural calcium to one’s teeth, making the teeth strong not just from the outside but also from within.”

The ‘Andar Se Strong’ campaign was launched in November 2018 with a tvc featuring actress Deepika Padukone, along with her mother. By accentuating the significance of inner strength and its reflection in the form of a smile, the brand conveys how Colgate Strong Teeth guards one’s smile by adding natural calcium to the teeth, making them Andar Se Strong.

The campaign is being supported by a 360-degree marketing campaign across multiple touch points.

Sanjay Sipahimalani, Creative Director, RedFuse Communication says, “Our ‘Andar Se Strong’ campaign highlights the role that your inner strength plays in helping you face tough situations with a smile. In this spot, Dhoni speaks from his heart to show how inner strength enabled him to choose responsibility over personal happiness during the 2015 World Cup.”

  • IPL 11 saw 61% growth in ad volume from season 1

IPL 11 saw 61% growth in ad volume from season 1

MUMBAI: The cash-rich Indian Premier League has witnessed tremendous growth over the years from its inception in 2008. The growth is in terms of different aspects like advertising revenue, sponsorship revenue, number of eyeballs and brands attraction etc.

According to TAM data, commercial ad volumes grew by 61 per cent in IPL 11 compared to IPL 1 i.e. from 31 hours in season 1 to 50 hours in season 11. Total of 151 brands advertised across 64 different categories during the last season.

To make the data comparable, one channel each of the respective broadcasters is taken into consideration for both the seasons. Sony Max is for IPL 2008 and Star Sports 1 Hindi for 2018 season.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the 12th season of the cash-rich league will commence from 23 March 2019. Franchises, brands, broadcaster and most importantly the fans were left delighted when the board announced that the 2019 edition will be played entirely in India.

The 11th season of the cash-rich league enjoyed humungous reach both on TV and OTT platform of Star India. Brands have long recognised the power and popularity of cricket in India and IPL with its undisputed reach and combination of cricket and entertainment is a zero risk property for brands.

On-screen advertising, the digitally embedded elements fed by broadcaster during the live telecast of match saw a good spike in the number of brands and categories. Total 51 brands advertised in IPL 11, which is 38 per cent more than IPL season one’s 37 brands. There was a 67 per cent rise in categories from 18 in IPL 1 to 30 in IPL 11.

Top three categories which dominated the top 10 list across the last three years in cricket genre are perfumes/deodorant, cellular phones-smart phones and cellular services. Experts believe that the event by itself is both a massive opportunity for brands and equally a challenge of sorts to stand out in the storm of brands advertising in it. The shorter format further pushes the challenge.

Some of new brands that associated with the IPL last season were AMFI, Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Blue Star, Ceat Tyres, Crompton, Dollar, Ford, Haier, Luminous, Pedilite, Sleep Well, Vanessa, Vimal Pan Masala and Voltas joined the existing ones like Vivo, Colgate, Amul, Dream11, Elica, Kent, Parle Agro, Polycab to name a few.

The season witnessed 21 hours of on-screen advertising with action replay, pull-through and push back the top three on-screen branding units during the play.

Talking about in-stadia advertising, 441 hours of in-stadia advertising was registered during IPL season 11. Top three on-screen branding units during the season were t-shirt, backdrop and perimeter board. Compared to the first season, in-stadia ad volumes increased almost by twofold from 224 hours to 441 hours in IPL 11.

Instadia advertising saw a growth of 8 per cent in the number of brands i.e., 106 brands in IPL 1 to 114 brands in IPL 11.

To appreciate the spike in brands and advertisers for IPL, Star India in its first year introduced the Re.imagine Awards to recognise and encourage the creativity and innovation in the use of integrated media in advertising campaigns aired during Vivo IPL on Star Sports and its OTT platform Hotstar.

Not just cricketers on the pitch but brands, marketers and advertisers have gradually upped their game to keep the viewers engaged during the sporting extravaganza.

In the upcoming season of IPL, a lot of diversified brands will be seen participating. The important thing is how they weave the story into a much more deeply integrated marketing plan. Now, it is about integrating the storyline through both ATL and BTL campaigns.

Colgate offers complete ‘Suraksha’ at Kumbh Mela

MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd launched the ‘Kumbh Se Sampoorna Shuddhi, Colgate Vedshakti Se Sampoorna Suraksha' campaign at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Allahabad.

The completely localised campaign is custom-made to provide a complete all-around protection to pilgrims through a range of Kumbh-specific activities and utility elements such as brushing stations for pilgrims to brush their teeth; oral care importance drives to spread the awareness of good oral hygiene; free, large-scale sampling of Colgate Vedshakti for millions of people at Kumbh; ‘Suraksha Wristbands’ for children to write/wear their emergency contact details on a safety wristband; ‘Sampoorna Suraksha Ropes’ given to big groups and families to hold on to, to ensure that they walk together without getting lost in the crowd

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd managing director Issam Bachaalani said, “At Colgate, we consistently work towards providing superior oral care and protection to all Indians, and towards caring for our communities. The Kumbh Mela gives us an opportunity to achieve both these objectives with our key target segments at an unprecedented scale.”

Bachaalani added, “Our theme at the Kumbh is complete protection or sampoorna suraksha, as part of which we are offering millions of visitors the free samples of Colgate Vedshakti toothpaste that provides sampoorna suraksha to the mouth. But that’s not all – we are also extending to our consumers ways and means to ensure complete safety of their families, as they made their way through the Kumbh Mela by handing out suraksha ropes – for families to walk together, and suraksha wristbands – for children to have an emergency contact number on their wrist.”

The Kumbh Se Sampoorna Shuddhi, Colgate Vedshakti Se Sampoorna Suraksha campaign started last month and has touched millions of pilgrims so far. Colgate Vedshakti’s impactful hoardings can be seen all over the consumer touchpoints at Prayagraj, while the sampling activity is carried out right from the transit points – at 21 highway pit stops, 9 key railway junctions and several bus stations – to inside the main Mela grounds including the akharas, rein-baseras, water point junctions, and the Colgate Vedshakti branded brushing stations.

Colgate Strong Teeth launches ‘Andar se Strong’ campaign

MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd, the market leader in oral care, has revealed two new TVCs  to launch its fresh campaign ‘Andar se Strong’ for its flagship brand Colgate Strong Teeth. It has also introduced a packaging change after over a decade. The TVCs have been created by RedFuse Communication.

Both the TVCs convey how Colgate Strong Teeth adds natural calcium to one’s teeth, and are based on the theme that just like a mother raises her child to be strong from within, Colgate Strong Teeth too makes one’s teeth strong from within.

The first TVC shows the protagonist – a young girl –  joining in to play football with a group of boys, overriding the resistance to her inclusion in the team with her confident smile and wit – a reflection of self-belief and inner strength. The second TVC features Deepika Padukone, shown alongside her mother – who has made the actress strong from within. Smiling during difficult moments, she says, symbolises ‘inner strength’.

Speaking about the new campaign, Colgate-Palmolive (India) managing director Issam Bachaalani said, “Colgate Strong Teeth, our flagship brand, has been in India for over 80 years, and I'm delighted to announce our new brand campaign called 'Andar Se Strong' featuring Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. This campaign reinforces our promise to guard and nurture you and your family's smile, by keeping your teeth strong from within.”

The ‘Andar se Strong’ theme in the TVCs will be supported by a 360-degree marketing campaign to ensure that the new Colgate Strong Teeth communication reaches consumers across multiple touch points. It will be available across various retail formats at a variety of price points starting from a Rs 5 pack to a 500-800 g saver pack.

Elaborating more on the campaign, RedFuse Communication creative director Sanjay Sipahimalani said, “In this campaign, we wanted to highlight that inner strength is most important to experience life to the fullest.  Both the TVCs focus on ‘Andar se Strong’ stories, but manifest in different ways. While the football tvc shows how breaking stereotypes and standing up for yourself takes inner strength, Deepika’s film is all about her personal ‘andar se strong’ story, which is what makes her the superstar and the person she is today.”

  • Price cuts, higher ad spend fail to buoy Colgate’s sales

Price cuts, higher ad spend fail to buoy Colgate’s sales

MUMBAI: The price of Colgate-Palmolive Co’s shares plummeted on Friday after the company reported lower-than-expected quarterly sales despite spending more on advertising and cutting prices.

The world’s largest toothpaste maker said gross margins fell to 59.8 percent in the fourth quarter from 60.4 percent a year earlier, hit by higher costs for raw materials and packaging according to a Reuters report.

Colgate said it expects sales growth in 2018 but the forecast did nothing to shake the impression of stagnation that has dogged Colgate and other consumer goods producers in the past year.

Organic sales improved sequentially, but the rate of improvement was less than expected, the company said in a post-earnings conference call.

For 2018, Colgate forecast mid-single digit percentage net sales growth and low- to mid-single-digit organic sales growth, and double-digit earnings per share growth.

  • Colgate & BYJU’s partner to educate kids

Colgate & BYJU’s partner to educate kids

MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive India recently concluded its annual Colgate Scholarship Offer that gives children from across India, a chance to win scholarships up to Rs 1 lac. While Colgate has upped the number of scholarships and the amount with every passing year, the bigger challenge that it took upon itself this year was to give something to every consumer who picked the Colgate Scholarship Offer pack and not just to the lucky few who end up winning a scholarship. In order to do that, Colgate partnered with BYJU’s, India’s leading education app, to give children access to free BYJU’s lessons.

The partnership enabled thousands of school children to avail Maths and Science lectures curated by experts at BYJU’s, through the Colgate Dental Cream pack. Each pack offered a free one-month video tutorial subscription of BYJU’s, worth Rs 999. For children who could not access the app, the duo created special audio lectures that could be availed by giving a missed call on the number provided on the pack, and also mentioned in the TVC.

Participation in the scholarship offer did not require consumers to buy the Colgate Dental Cream pack. The 2017 edition of Colgate Scholarship Offer received more than 49 lac entries from across the country.

In order to inspire many more children and their parents to avail this unique offer, Colgate felt the need to show them the stories of real scholarship winners from their own regions – and how they benefitted from this program. The thought led to the decision of choosing to film individual stories of real winners in their real homes, instead of shooting a standard, scripted TVC in a studio with actors.

After spending/shooting for a couple of days with each of the winners, across different geographies, the team came back with massive amounts of footage which was ultimately edited into short TVCs, and finally the top five stories were put on air. To make the TVC more impactful only the local winner’s story (TVC) was aired in that particular region.

Colgate-Palmolive (India) director marketing Eric Jumbert says, “The campaign revolved around the real winners from previous years’ Scholarship Offer winners telling their real stories, which made the proposition all the more compelling.”

Red Fuse Communications creative director Sanjay Sipahimalani adds, “We’ve seen kids across the country realise their potential and live their dreams. It has been humbling to see this change, and no advertising campaign could have been better than presenting the stories of these children to the world. Thus, our testimonial campaign was shot in a raw, candid manner. Our teams went to their houses, and spoke to them. What you see on television is their life, and their narrative.”
