    CNN launches SMS marketing promotion for Indian viewers

    MUMBAI: International news channel CNN has entered into an alliance with wireless marketing solutions provider, Mobile2Win (M2W) for an SMS marketing promotion. The channel will offer its viewers an opportunity to participate in the Your World Today promotion through SMS and win exciting prizes.

    Aimed at driving additional viewership to CNN’s primetime programme Your World Today, the channel urges Indian viewers to participate in a contest by simply text messaging CNN to 8558. Players will then have to answer a question with multiple-choice options. One winner will be picked for one new questions every week.

    The news programme, Your World Today is a four-hour news wheel featuring the latest news breaks, global news, sports, business and weather information.

    An official release quoted Turner Broadcasting System- Asia Pacific’s vice president of corporate communications and marketing Grace Wong as saying, “Through initiatives like this, we hope to create more interactivity between our viewers and the CNN brand, to educate them about CNN in a fun way, and to encourage them to keep tuning into CNN.”

    M2W’s vice president (sales and marketing) Rajiv Hiranandani was quoted as saying, “The wireless promotion undertaken by CNN is sure to add new levels of interactivity to Your World Today. M2W is ideally placed to deliver this exciting solution to CNN.”

    M2W was set up in China last year. It has to its credit some of the world’s largest mobile SMS promotions, including a Coca Cola summer campaign in China.

     

  • CNN launches ‘Asia Now’ as part of its AsiaPac revamp

    MUMBAI: To boost its evening news programming slot, news network CNN is launching a new business programme, Asia Now, in two live one-hour editions.
    Taking a cue from its morning programme format, CNN will telecast these editions at 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm on weekdays. The first of the editions will go on air on 11 August 2003 from CNN’s Asia headquarters in Hong Kong. The revamped telecast timings are a part of a complete makeover in Asia Pacific programming schedules that become effective from 11 August.
    The one-hour programme offers a mix of news and analysis with a strong focus on business and market related information. This business show will also provide live reports on the European markets as they close and on The New York Stock Exchange as they open. The programme proposes to cover latest technology developments and profiles of business leaders under regular segments like Tech Watch and Challenging CEOs.

    The business oriented show is co-anchored by veteran journalists Andrew Stevens and Veronica Pedrosa. Stevens has been reporting on Asian business and economic news for more than eight years and Pedrosa has over ten years of broad-based and global news coverage to her credit.
    CNN International Asia Pacific senior VP Ian Macintosh was quoted in a press release as saying, “The show reflects our continuing investment in quality news programming.”
