    THUMS UP and Being Human campaign ‘VEER’

    MUMBAI: Thums-Up Being Human VEER in association with CNN-IBN and American India Foundation (AIF), have started VEER, an awareness and fundraising campaign to unleash the potential of persons with disabilities (PwD) and make them employable. At the gala grand finale of this unique initiative held in Mumbai recently, we celebrated the rise of some of India’s most well known PwDs and took up the need for enabling PwDs by recognising their inner abilities.

     

    Led by campaign ambassador Salman Khan, the panellists stressed the need to change social mindsets towards disability. The expert panel included: Sudha Chandran, Bharatanatyam dancer and actor; lyricist and poet Prasoon Joshi; Hemanth Paul, Country Director, AIF; Debabrata Mukerjee, Vice President, Marketing and Commercial at Coca-Cola India; Neelam Jolly, Founder, Vishwas; Prasana Karmakar, Arjuna awardee para swimmer; Mithu Alur, Founder, ADAPT; actor Anupam Kher; and Lt Gen Vijay Oberoi, Founder, War Wounded Foundation.

     

    During the event, the stage was taken over by breathtaking performances by PwDs. The performers included students of VMS School who performed malkhamb, visually impaired signer Diwakar, and partially blind standup comedian Sundeep Rao among others. Various celebrities such as Anup Soni, Gulshan Grover, Rahul Roy, Vishakha Singh, Sushant Singh, Swara Bhaskar, and Urvashi Dholakia also attended the event and lent their support to the campaign.

    CNN-IBN & IBN7 in partnership with ADR launch MP Ka Report Card

    MUMBAI: With almost 8,000 candidates from over 1,400 political parties, 814 million eligible voters, and nine phases, India’s 16th General Election is going to be the largest electoral exercise that the world has ever witnessed. The big question: Who should we vote for?

     

    To help the voters make up their minds, CNN-IBN and IBN7, in partnership with ADR, have come up with a unique initiative called *MP**’s Report Card and MP** Ka Report Card*, a special survey-based news segment that illeducate the voters about their leaders and help them taking informed decisions.

     

    Starting March 18, this special high-frequency segment will cover the work done by our MPs, their successes and failures. The survey will cover around 250,000 people in 530 constituencies, making it the largest such survey ever undertaken.

     

    Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, CNN-IBN, IBN7 & IBN-Lokmat, said,”The common man can make or break a government. As a news network, it’s our responsibility to educate our voters and keep them informed about the leaders they are going to vote for.     MUMBAI: With the announcement of General Elections 2014, the spotlight is now on the voters who will play an important role in the entire process. In an effort to provide a platform to them on what they think about various socio-political issues and how they want to get them addressed, CNN-IBN & IBN7 are launching a unique initiative called Open Mike on 10th March, 2014. This one-of-its-kind initiative will give the common citizens an opportunity to voice their concerns, grievances, opinions and expectations from the upcoming General Elections at a scale that has never been seen before.

    Everyday a question revolving around the key political issues, opinions and policies will be put on–air as well as on the network’s various online and social media properties. ‘Open Mike’ will travel across pre-selected locations in 17 major cities across the country and capture bytes from people on the said question. Selected responses will be aired as special segments in the newswheel throughout the day on both the channels. In addition to this, a special half-hour show will also go on-air Mon-Thu at 10:30pm on CNN-IBN. Viewers would also be able to submit their videos, responses on the channel’s various web and social media interfaces.
