    Rashmi Jha gets branded content sales head role at Arnab Goswami’s Republic TV

    MUMBAI: A large part of her career has been spent in the television news business though she has flirted with entertainment TV, and consumer goods for short periods. Now Rashmi Jha is headed back to TV news. She has joined Arnab Goswami’s ARG Outlier Media as head of branded content sales, presumably for Republic World, Bharat, Bangla, and Kannada.

    This is after almost four years of being employed with Associated Broadcasting (TV9) from 2020-2024 where she finally was designated as assistant general manager.

    She spent nearly two years working with Zee Entertainment Enterprises as a senior manager, innovation studio custom content, Zee Unimedia. Her exposure to consumer goods was with Green Ply Industries where she worked for two years and a bit more as brand manager.

    Rashmi took a stab at being employed at CNN-IBN but she spent only a year and some months there. Prior to that she had taken up a four-year spell with Zee News as marketing manager.

    The History graduate and PG diploma in advertising & PR landed her first job after her course studies at Maxesposure Media where she sold space for Ampersand magazine.

    Wion managing editor Palki Sharma Upadhyay quits

    Mumbai: English news broadcaster Wion on Friday said its managing editor, Palki Sharma Upadhyay, has quit. She announced her resignation in a meeting with the Wion team held on Friday at 2 p.m.

    Sharing the news, journalist and TV anchor Vir Sanghvi wrote on Twitter: “A great loss to Wion & a huge coup for whichever channel lands her.”

    Upadhyay was associated with the news broadcaster for over five years. She joined as an executive editor and was promoted to be the managing editor of the channel in May 2022. She was hosting the prime-time news programme Gravitas.

    Prior to Wion, Upadhyay was associated with iTV Network and CNN-IBN as anchor and senior editor.

    Upadhyay has been at the forefront of covering news from all over the world for more than 20 years in the field of journalism. Not only have viewers from all over the world praised her reporting on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but also world leaders like Dr. Igor Polikha, the Ukrainian ambassador to India.

    Tech Mahindra brings in N Dilip Venkatraman as global head, M&E

    Mumbai: Tech Mahindra has brought N Dilip Venkatraman on board as global head, media and entertainment.

    With over 20 years of corporate experience, Venkatraman has held key positions at India Today Group, Dish TV, Pugmarks, and Zee Network.

    Prior to joining Tech Mahindra, Venkatraman had launched a video technology startup VideoTap in 2016, which helps video content producers across genres to increase engagement within the video itself and achieve higher ROI.

    He was previously associated with iTV Network as group COO, strategy and business development, where he was responsible for planning strategic solutions and business development for the network. He also helped the media company revamp its digital strategy for the entire Network and relaunch newsx.com, inkhabhar.com, sundayguardianlive.com

    An alumnus of IIM-Bangalore, Venkatraman has also been the CEO of Network18-owned CNN-IBN & IBN7, where he was responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational management of the channels.

  • BTVi hires Times’s Shetty & CNN IBN’s Pisharody, strengthens rev & strategy team

    MUMBAI: BTVi – Business Television India has appointed Shilpa Shetty and Seema Pisharody to jointly work towards revenue generation for the channel. They will be closely working with the COO Megha Tata (Monica Tata) to drive the business news channel to strengthen the next level growth in India.

    BTVi is reinforcing senior experienced people in the team to build a quality think tank with a focus on the revenue model of the channel. Anuj Katiyar, who has recently joined the team as the marketing & research head, has played an integral role in channel’s development in the past two months.

    Shetty will be actively involved in the strategic planning for generating revenue for the channel. Shetty was last associated with the Times Network as the vice-president – revenue and was the national sales head for the Times Network cluster of channels for several verticals. Shetty was also associated with the Network18 group for 10 years.

    On joining BTVi, Shetty said, “I felt it is an interesting opportunity that has come my way to lead BTVi and create a path towards success.”

    Pisharody, in her role will be investing her expertise in crafting strategic approach for business development for the channel. Pisharody has over 15 years of experience in the media &entertainment industry with brands like Turner and Hindustan Times. Her last assignment was with CNN IBN, as the head of Branded Content for South region.

    On the new role, Pisharody said, “BTVi is poised to be a game changer in the dynamic Business News segment. And I am excited to be part of this winning team.”

    Welcoming them to the team, Tata said, “We believe that their expertise in the domain will be a valuable asset to the channel.”

    BARC week 11: Entire news genre sees a decline in the ratings

    MUMBAI: Times Now continued to be the undisputed leader in the English News space while CNBC TV 18 dominated the English business news genre. In the Hindi news genre Aaj Tak continued to lead securing the number one position. According to week 11 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the entire news genre saw a decline in the ratings.  

    Meanwhile, CNBC Awaaz stood at the first spot in Hindi business news space.

    News 9 entered the English news space whereas News Nation made a comeback in the Hindi news genre.

    English news

    Times Now maintained its first position with 290 (‘000s) followed by India Today Television with 251 (‘000s). NDTV 24×7 took the third birth with 122 (‘000s). News 9 made a comeback this week grabbing the fourth position with 116 (‘000s) whereas CNN-IBN bagged the fifth position with 111 (‘000s).

    English business news

    CNBC TV 18 secured its number one position with 268 (‘000s) followed by ET Now securing the second slot with 238 (‘000s). NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 58 (‘000s) and Bloomberg TV with 17 (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively.

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak stood at the first spot with 79605 (‘000s), while India TV took the second position with 72602 (‘000s).  India News jumped to the third position with 58344 (‘000s) followed by ABP News securing the fourth position with 48198 (‘000s). News Nation entered the top 5 list taking the fifth position with 45567 (‘000s).

    Hindi business news

    CNBC Awaaz saw a decrease in the ratings grabbing the first spot with 1050 (‘000s), while Zee Business stood at the second spot with 681 (‘000s).
