    MUMBAI: Times Now continued to lead the English news genre, while CNBC TV18 dominated the English business news space according to week 10 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data,. News X entered the English news genre top 5 list, News Nation exited the Hindi news space making way for India News in the top 5 list. Meanwhile, Aaj Tak and CNBC Awaaz secured their number one position in the Hindi news and Hindi business news genre respectively.  

    English News

    Despite a decline in ratings, Times Now continued to lead the English news space with 330 (‘000s) as compared to 419 (‘000s) in week 9. India Today Television jumped to the second spot with 242 (‘000s) followed by NDTV 24×7 at the third position with 146 (‘000s). CNN IBN bagged the fourth position with 142 (‘000s). News X entered the top 5 list taking the fifth position with 119 (‘000s).

    English Business News

    CNBC TV18 secured  first position with 316 (‘000s) followed by ET Now with 251 (‘000s) at the second place. NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime garnered 65 (‘000s)  to take fourth place, while Bloomberg TV observed a downfall in the ratings at 12 (‘000s) and stood fourth position.

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak stood at the first spot with a decline in the ratings this week to 87008 (‘000s), while India TV took the second position with 71704 (‘000s).  ABP News with 53433 (‘000s) and India News with 51864 (‘000s) grabbed the third and the fourth positions respectively while Zee News took the fifth berth with 49982 (‘000s).

    Hindi Business News

    CNBC Awaaz saw a decrease in the ratings but still had the first spot with 1172 (‘000s) as against 1351 (‘000s) in week 9. Zee Business stood at the second spot with 710 (‘000s).

    In the Hindi news space Aaj Tak continued its lead while CNBC Awaaz grabbed the first spot in the business news genre. The English and Hindi news space observed decrease in their viewership while the business news genre saw an increase in the ratings.

    Times Now remained as the undisputed leader in the English news space with 470 (‘000s) as compared to 627 (‘000s) in week 8. NDTV 24×7 stood at the second position with 254 (‘000s) followed by India Today Television bagging the third spot with 181 (‘000s). CNN IBN with 160 (‘000s) grabbed the fourth position. News 9 with 106 (‘000s) entered the list at the fifth position.

    CNBC TV18 continued to dominate the genre with 927 (‘000s) followed by ET Now with 341 (‘000s) grabbing the second position. NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime took with 56 (‘000s) and Bloomberg TV with 35 (‘000s) took the third and fourth position respectively.

    MUMBAI: CNBC -TV18 is once again a clear winner and the undisputed leader in English business news channels’ coverage on the day of Union Budget announcement. Not only was the channel far ahead of other English business news channels but was also more than 1.5 times of ET Now and Times Now put together in the Budget week* thereby consolidating its position as the distinct leader in budget analysis for English news viewing audience in the country. Since inception, CNBC-TV18 has been a leader despite competition coming in during the last few years.

    Here’s what the share of channels looks like:

    1.Budget Day (29 Feb’16): All India, CNBC-TV18 was number 1 with 75 per cent share which was thrice of all the competition put together. ET Now was at 21 per cent, NDTV Profit at 2 per cent and Bloomberg TV had 2 per cent viewership.

    2.Budget Speech: All India, CNBC-TV18 was number 1 with 72 per cent share.ET Now was at 25 per cent, NDTV Profit at 3 per cent and Bloomberg TV had no viewership.

    3.Budget Week (27t Feb – 4t March’16): In urban India CNBC-TV18 was leading at 71 per cent, more than twice of all the competition put together.  The share of nearest competitor ET Now was 23 percent.

BBC World News has made a comeback in this week’s top English news channel list as per the data.

    Aaj Tak continued to be the leader in the Hindi News space while CNBC Awaaz maintained its lead in the Hindi Business News genre.

    Meanwhile, the entire news space (both English and Hindi) saw an increase in the ratings this week.

    English News

    Times Now remained as the undisputed leader in the English news space with 627 (‘000s) followed by NDTV 24×7 at the second position with 290 (‘000s). India Today Television with 263 (‘000s) and CNN IBN with 254 (‘000s) grabbed the third and the fourth positions respectively.

    BBC World News with 131 (‘000s) made a comeback on the top 5 chart at the fifth position.

    English Business News

    CNBC TV18 replaced ET Now with 450 (‘000s). The latter took the second spot with 275 (‘000s) followed by NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 78 (‘000s) at the third place. Bloomberg TV stood at the fifth position with 15 (‘000s).

    Hindi News

    With an increase in the ratings, Aaj Tak with 101805 (‘000s) continued to dominate the space while India TV stood at the second position with an increased rating of 80573 (‘000s).  Zee News secured its third position with 65922 (‘000s) followed by ABP News with 63674 (‘000s) in fourth place. India News secured  the number five position with 55288 (‘000s).

    Hindi Business News
