Cartoon Network launches a new initiative ‘Redrawing India’

Mumbai: Cartoon Network has launched an initiative called ‘Redrawing India’. This announcement is part of Cartoon Network’s new brand promise ‘Redraw Your World’, which aims at empowering children to think outside the box, and to own & hone their abilities. It is celebrating inclusivity, creativity, and entertainment through music, new content, activations, and brand collaborations. The Redrawing India Series is taking that thought ahead by spotlighting real kids and their stories.

The six children from across India were chosen by Cartoon Network because of how differently they are leading change, one cause and innovation at a time. From music and environment to sports & technology, these inspiring young minds are breaking down barriers, redefining dreams and are recognised nationally & globally for their bold and defining actions. Their unique and equally diverse stories of redrawing India are showcased through a video series on Cartoon Network’s social platforms – Instagram, Facebook and YouTube – encouraging kids around India to step ahead and redraw their world. The Redrawing India Series further solidifies the ethos of the ‘Redraw Your World’ anthem launched earlier in May, that celebrates the individuality and diversity of kids through music.

Commenting on the campaign, Cartoon Network and POGO South Asia Network Head Abhishek Dutta said, “‘Redrawing India’ is a catalyst that will show every child that they too have the power to redraw their world. India is brimming with talent, and kids are its future. We hope that this video series will ignite passion in India’s young minds to identify and nurture their unique abilities and dreams.”

Pogo and Cartoon Network spruce up on-ground activities

MUMBAI: If you thought on-ground activation was the exclusive domain of big television channels, think again.

Niche channels like Pogo and Cartoon Network too are engaged in strengthening direct connect with audiences, in this case – kids.

A case in point is the School Contact Programs (SCP) conducted annually by these two channels from the Turner India stable.

This time round, Pogo’s SCP, spanning July to September, targeted around 500 schools in eight cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Chennai. The program saw the kids’ most loved character Chhota Bheem conduct Bheem’s Masti Ki Class across schools. Children were educated about issues like hygiene, internet security, team work and traffic signals through interactive games. The medium of instruction was Tamil in Chennai, Gujarati in Ahmedabad and so on. At the end of these sessions, students took home goodies and sponsor samples. Each activity lasted approximately three hours and touched nearly 900 students per school. Students from standards one to eight participated, sans their parents.

Says Turner International India senior director and network head Krishna Desai: “These SCPs provide an excellent platform to build a bridge between kids and their favourite channels and characters. Valuable lessons are imparted to kids in an entertaining format with branded games, activities and prizes. In addition, our advertisers also get a direct platform for their target audiences.”

Bheem’s Masti Ki Class was presented by Knorr Soupy Noodles, powered by Parle G, with associate sponsors including Honda, Dabur Hajmola Anardana, ICICI Prudential and TAT-O.

“Metros provide the necessary number of schools and students to help us achieve our goals,” adds Desai.

The theme of Cartoon Network’s SCP this year was Go Active Move It Movement based on tips and games to keep kids fit and active. The program featured several popular characters like Kris (from Roll No. 21) and Tom, Jerry and Oggy (from Oggy and the Cockroaches). The SCP was presented by Parle G, powered by Alpenliebe Juzt Jelly, with associate sponsors including Dabur Real Juice, Dabur Red Toothpaste, Hero Cycles & Yellow Diamond Chips.

The marketing departments of both Pogo and CN handle all activities while on-ground is deputed to specific agencies.

For kids who can’t get enough of their favourite characters on their favourite channels, this sure is a great way to keep connected with them.

CN gets on to DD with a branded block

NEW DELHI: Not content with ruling the kids’ space in India via satellite, Cartoon Network now wants a slice of terrestrial viewership too.

It announced has just a new one-hour programming block, Cartoon Network Duniya, on Doordarshan National.

Starting 8 July, the new block will air every Saturday from 10:30 am to 11:30 a.m. and will feature two of Turner’s most popular and highly successful original productions, M.A.D. (Music, Art and Dance show) and Codename: Kids Next Door.

Cartoon Network Duniya will also showcase other popular series, including Turner’s most awaited original production, Galli Galli Sim Sim, the Indian version of globally renowned pre-school series, Sesame Street.

“Doordarshan’s extensive reach across India will enable kids in non-C&S homes to enjoy Turner’s engaging original production that has so far been limited to C&S homes. In the preliminary stage, the highly rated M.A.D. and popular animation series, Codename: Kids Next Door will serve as the perfect introduction to new viewers,” an official statement quoted Turner International India MD Anshuman Misra as saying yesterday.

Misra added that later in the year Galli Galli Sim Sim will further enhance the appeal by showcasing content that is both educational and entertaining in nature.

M.A.D. is an off-the-wall, interactive journey for 8-12 years olds and their families and is filled with fun tabletop ‘makes’, dynamic performances, a bit of humour and some art stunts.

Galli Galli Sim Sim is an initiative undertaken by globally recognised, Sesame Workshop and Indian kids’ entertainment leader, Turner India.

The show is aimed at serving the 157 million children under the age of six in India and is committed to supporting India’s Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan or universal access to education.
