    Tuzki inspires Manish Arora Collection at Paris Fashion Week

    MUMBAI: After winning millions of hearts in China, Turner’s massively popular emoticon, Tuzki, is ready to take the international world of glitz and glam by storm! Turner India has announced an exciting collaboration with Indian fashion designer Manish Arora for the international launch of a special Tuzki-inspired collection.

    Launched as a part of Manish’s Fall-Winter collection, called‘Orange is the new Zen’, was unveiled at the mecca of international fashion trends, the prestigious Paris Fashion Week. This year marks a milestone for the veteran designer, celebrating 10 glorious years of showcasing stunning designs at one of the world’s most revered fashion week.

    Commenting on the collection launch, Manish Arora, India’s leading fashion designer said, “It feels great to partner with an iconic brand like Tuzki. This unique collection was inspired by this special rabbit. He personifies a composed, relaxed yet a cool lifestyle, one that is similar to mine. The collection is a story of Tuzki’s day in Paris where he is seen meditating below the Eiffel tower, chilling in his room with a glass of wine and watching nature from the window, highlighting the fascinating character that he is! Being a Tuzki fan, it’s a pleasure to be a part of his world now, in my own way.” 

    The collection, including t-shirts, dresses, jackets, pants, sweat shirts and accessories like backpacks, pouches and clutch bags, inspired by the rabbit, will be widely promoted and available for sale across Manish Arora Fashion stores in China, Tuzki’s home country, before bringing it to the Indian market.

    With quirky movements and humorous body language, groovy dance moves and a penchant for milk, the mischievous bunny quickly became an internet sensation in China. Flitting from cheekiness to profound thoughts, Tuzki’s moods have reflected those of millions of people through emoji, gifs, animations and stickers on various platforms.

    Embodying these unique traits and features of the emoji star, the collection is a unique dove-point between Tuzki’s quirky characteristics and Manish’s astute craftsmanship. The collection features apparels and accessories that puts the spotlight on Tuzki’s funny traits and peculiarities through the fashion designer’s quintessential creativity and play on colours. This collaboration is all set to elevate Tuzki’s presence to an unprecedented international scale, expanding his popularity beyond the China market.

  • Turner names Clement Schwebig CFO for APAC

    MUMBAI: Turner Asia-Pacific has announced that Clement Schwebig has been promoted to chief financial officer, in addition to his current role as the SVP- business development licensing in China.

    Shitiz Jain, SVP finance, has been leading Turner’s financial growth and planning, as well as assisting the regional management team to maximize financial results across the entire portfolio of Turner’s kids, news and general entertainment brands, and businesses in the region. Jain, who leaves the network on a high, will be pursuing a new opportunity at the end of June 2017.

    Schwebig joined Turner Asia Pacific in 2013. Over the last three years, he has successfully led the company’s efforts to grow beyond its core business by creating new local and pan-regional channels, and in developing local content opportunities to further Turner’s presence in the market. He has also led Turner’s growth strategy across the region in the digital space, as well as Turner’s consumer products and location-based entertainment businesses.

    Some of his recent notable achievements so far include Warner TV, Cartoon Network Amazone waterpark in Thailand, the acquisition and development of the Tuzki franchise and repositioning Cartoon Network’s consumer product business for growth.

    “Clement is a seasoned media executive with substantial experience encompassing all aspects of business operations in TV broadcasting and production, including strategy, finance and sales. With his new responsibilities as CFO, Clément will play an even more active role in shaping the strategy and direction for Turner APAC as it transforms into a data informed, fan-centric media company,” commented Turner Asia Pacific president Ricky Ow.

    “As a core member of my management team, Shitiz has provided invaluable strategic and financial counsel for the APAC and Turner International executive teams. We are very grateful for the significant contributions he has made, and his help in evolving the business rapidly in order to meet consumer demand and technological change. We wish him success in his next venture,” he added.

    “I have truly enjoyed working with Ricky and the Turner team as we worked on transforming the network and developing new opportunities particularly in Kids and Asian entertainment. It has been a great experience,” said Jain.

    Turner appoints Eric Lee to lead its LBE business

    MUMBAI: Turner Asia Pacific has appointed Eric Lee as director for Asia Pacific to lead its growing location-based entertainment (LBE) business for the region.

    Lee is tasked with identifying opportunities to develop consumer-facing experiences such as water parks, theme parks, branded retail and entertainment spaces. These environments utilize Cartoon Network’s global kids’ IP such as The Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, We Bare Bears and Adventure Time, as well as Turner’s other youth-focused brands including Tuzki, according to a company statement.

    This is a new position for Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), Turner’s licensing and merchandising arm, and demonstrates its commitment to developing more LBE initiatives around the region. Lee’s appointment is a part of a wider strategy by Turner to become an even more consumer-centric and IP-focused company.

    Turner Asia Pacific business development and overseas CNE senior vice president, Clément Schwebig was quoted in the statement as saying, “Eric is a talented and experienced individual who will straight away look to forge strategic relationships with local partners that will enable us to engage existing fans and win over new ones. LBE and the themed attraction business has huge potential for growth in Asia Pacific, and Cartoon Network’s world-famous franchises are well-loved by kids and families across the region.”

    The appointment comes at a period of growth for both the industry and Turner’s extensive portfolio of IP.

    Cartoon Network Amazone, the water park in Thailand that opened in 2014, is going from strength to strength and earlier this year, Turner opened a Tuzki-themed restaurant in Shanghai, China, and the first of a planned series of Cartoon Network retail stores in Seoul, Korea.

    Meanwhile in Dubai, Cartoon Network is all set to open its own themed zone at IMG Worlds of Adventure. In a number of other Asian markets, LBE projects in the CNE pipeline include Family Entertainment Centers and Retail-Dining-Entertainment experiences.

    Lee joins Turner from Rovio Entertainment in Europe, where he held the position of Director for Global LBE. There he worked with large-scale licensing deals and led innovative projects such as the first ever Angry Birds 4D film and Angry Birds VR experience. He has also held roles in Jack Rouse Associates and JBJ Associates and has worked on projects such as Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, Crayola Experience in the US, Sochi Theme Park in Russia, and Angry Birds parks in the UK, Russia and Qatar.
