    BBC World’s revamped ‘Click Online’ airs in January

    MUMBAI: From 5 January 2006, BBC World’s weekly technology programme Click Online will be re-launched with a new name, look and presenter. Spencer Kelly, who is currently a reporter on the programme, will take over as the main presenter.

    Click will report from leading industry exhibitions and conferences to give audiences an insight into the technologies about to enter the marketplace. It will also offer practical computing and technical advice, as well as acting as a trusted guide to outstanding websites. Click will be first broadcast on BBC World every Thursday with four repeats during the week.

    Kelly says, “Our new 30-minute programme will offer a comprehensive guide to the latest innovations and developments in computing, mobile communications and gadgets. We’ll also have analysis of the wider technological issues, plus interviews that will challenge business, industry and political leaders, whose decisions can affect the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the globe.”

    The Click microsite will also show the programme in full each week – bbcworld.com/click – and will offer background information on all of the topics covered on-air, plus online archive with clips and text from previous shows.

  • BBC World gets to partner 3G World Congress 2002

    BBC World is the official television media partner of the 3G World Congress 2002.

    The annual event, into its seventh year, deals with the global wireless business and will take place from 10-14 June in Hong Kong. The event claims to be the leading forum where telecommunication operators and vendors meet to showcase the latest products and services.

    The channel’s logo will be on display on all conference materials and it will be carried throughout the conference centre in the important areas. Stephen Cole, who hosts the information technology show Click Online for the channel, will host the events Industry Achievement Awards on 11 June. Click Online will also produce a special report on the conference, which will air on the channel this month.

    Besides this, viewers tuning in to World Business Report and Asia Business Report will get regular updates regarding conference goings on.

    Speaking on this, account director for airtime sales in Asia Sally Young said that the package of editorial coverage and special reports was an example of the flexible solutions the UK broadcaster could offer.

    The event will explore opportunities in the marketplace for next generation systems based on Code Division Multiple Access. Participating sponsors at the event include Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Lucent and Nortel.
