    After fantasy it’s sci-fi for Mackenzie Foy

    MUMBAI: Earning fame at the age of ten in the blockbuster movieTwilight for playing the role of Renesmee Cullen, Mackenzie Foy will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Matthew McNaughty and Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar.

    Final negotiations are on to join the cast of the movie which also includes Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and Casey Affleck. Scripted by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, his brother, the movie is about time travel and alternate dimensions. The cast will be playing a group of explorers who are traveling through a wormhole. The plot as well as Foy‘s role is still shrouded under secrecy.

    Foy has also starred in movies such as The Conjuring and is the lead in soon to be released Wish you Well, an adaptation of David Baldacci‘s book. In Twilight she played the role of coveted Renesmee Cullen, daughter of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).After earning a nomination for Best Supporting Young Actress in a Feature Film for her role in Twilight, it is time to see how this new genre will treat the 12 year old.

    Anne Hathaway to come together with Christopher Nolan in Interstellar

    MUMBAI: Anne Hathaway is set to team up with director Christopher Nolan once again for his new endeavour Interstellar. The 30-year-old Oscar-winning actor will star alongside Matthew McConaughey in the film.
     
    Though the film‘s plot is being kept under wraps, but the film has been in development since 2006 when Steven Spielberg devised the project along with Nolan‘s brother, Jonah Nolan. The director reportedly hired Nolan to write a script for a film based on physicist Kip S Thorne‘s theory that wormholes exist and can be used for space travel.
     
    However, Spielberg left the project, allowing the Nolan brothers, who have collaborated on numerous films, including the Dark Knight trilogy, The Prestige and Memento, to come together once again.
     
    The new script is thought to be a combination of Spielberg‘s movie and an original idea from Christopher.
     
    The sci-fi film, which is a joint production of Paramount and Warner Bros, is being produced by Nolan, Emma Thomas and Lynda Obst.

    Warner Bros’ next Superman flick in 3D

    MUMBAI: Warner Bros. has confirmed that its Superman film Man of Steel will be converted to 3D while in the post-production stage.
    There‘s been speculation for months that Warner would convert the film to 3D, thereby increasing the tent pole‘s earning potential.
    Starring Henry Cavill in the title role and directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel is scheduled to open all over on 14 June. The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
    Man of Steel producer Christopher Nolan has resisted working in 3D. Snyder, on the other hand, has worked in the 3D format in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga‘Hoole.
    Scripted by David S Goyer, Man of Steel aims to reboot the marquee superhero franchise for Warners.

    The Dark Knight Rises crosses $300 mn at worldwide box-office

    MUMBAI: In less than a week of its release, Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises has crossed the $300 million mark at the worldwide box office.
    On Wednesday, The Dark Knight Rises got off to a spectacular start in France grossing $2.7 million to score the best opening day record of the year, according to early estimates.
    The superhero film, that opened in North America and 17 foreign markets last weekend, is making a major international push this week as it rolls out in additional 40 countries. On Thursday, it will open in Germany and Russia followed by numerous other territories on Friday.
    Through Tuesday, the film‘s domestic gross went beyond $198 million, slightly behind The Dark Knight that had earned $203.8 million. Overseas, it earned an outstanding $110 million.
    Dark Knight Rises debuted to $160.9 million domestically, the third-best debut of all time and the best ever for a 2D title. Insiders believe the film lost as much as between $10 to $20 million because of the shoot out at Aurora Cinema, Colorado.
    Like exhibitors in the US, foreign theatre circuits are tightening up security in the wake of last Friday‘s shooting that left at least a dozen people dead and 58 injured.
