    Sony Pix to telecast ‘Jurassic World’ on 22 October

    MUMBAI: Sony Pix will take the viewers on a thrilling, adventurous journey with cloned dinosaurs in their Billion Dollar Premiere property. The channel plans to air Jurassic World on 22 October at 1 pm and 9 pm.

    Owing to its visual spectacle and nail-biting narrative, the movie got an opening of over US$500 million worldwide.

    “Jurassic World is the second highest grossing film of 2015 with Rs 1.6 billion in revenues. It was a natural choice for us to showcase a film of this scale first on our channel as Sony Pix is synonymous with Hollywood Blockbusters. In fact, other blockbusters of 2015 like Furious 7 and Minions also premiered first on Sony Pix. So our strategy is to invest in great content that will leave our viewers Amazed,” said Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) English entertainment cluster executive vice-president and business head Saurabh Yagnik.

    Apart from having A-listers actors like Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Brian Tee, the movie also stars veteran actor Irrfan Khan in a suave role of Simon Masrani.

    Khan said, “I have always enjoyed working in Hollywood movies and being a part of a record breaking movie – Jurassic World was a great opportunity. I am glad that Sony PIX will be airing the movie for the first time on Indian Television and this must-watch family entertainer will surely reach out to a larger audience. Kids, teens or grown-ups, this film is sure to be loved by all those who watch it!”

    Universal Pictures preps for ‘Jurassic World’ sequel

    MUMBAI: Universal Pictures is all set to make the sequel to the recently release Jurassic World.

     

    Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have been confirmed for the sequel.

     

    Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who did a rewrite on Jurassic World, will write the script for the sequel.

     

    Jurassic World, which opened in theatres in June this year, has been one of the biggest successes in the history of Universal and has broken a slew of box office records. The movie has earned $1.5 billion worldwide to date.

     

    Trevorrow dished about the Jurassic World 2 plot and teased that the movie will not be limited to theme parks.

     

    Jurassic World ended with the Indominus Rex getting pushed to the Mosasaurus and being dragged and eaten by aquatic lizards.

    Universal plans six-network roadblock on NBC for ‘Jurassic World’ preview

    MUMBAI: A roadblock broadcast of the original Jurassic Park will be hosted by three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg and Chris Pratt, the star of Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World, beginning on 5 June and concluding on 6 June.

     

    They will also introduce a two-minute, exclusive sneak preview of Jurassic World, which arrives in theaters on 12 June.

     

    Spielberg and Pratt will share their respective memories of Jurassic Park and drive to a debut of a two-minute exclusive sneak preview of Jurassic World, which will air during the program.

     

    This first opportunity to see new material from the upcoming film will be aired on 5 June on NBC. The following evening, on 6 June, the program will air on Bravo, Syfy, USA Network, E! and NBC Universo. For its part, NBC Universo will telecast a Spanish language version of Jurassic Park.

     

    In Jurassic World, the story of Spielberg’s original comes full circle as the park that was only a promise comes to life. Jurassic World is a fully operational luxury resort off the coast of Costa Rica where 20,000 guests explore the wonder of Earth’s most magnificent living prehistoric marvels—of every shape and size—and interact up close with them every day.

     

    When the massive and mysterious Indominus rex stages an escape and disappears into the jungle, order turns to mayhem and guests turn into prey. Dinosaurs escape into the open, skies and water to engage in an all-out war for survival, and no corner within the world’s greatest theme park is safe anymore.

     

    Pratt, Irrfan Khan, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy and BD Wong star in the 3D epic action-adventure that is directed by Colin Trevorrow and based on characters created by Michael Crichton.

    Jennifer Lawrence named the most bankable star of 2014

    MUMBAI: Jennifer Lawrence’ blockbuster films The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and X-Men: Days of Future Past have made a total of $1.4 billion in the box office.

     

    The success of these films has made the 24 year old actress the most bankable box office star of 2014, according to Forbes magazine.

     

    Lawrence was listed ahead of Chris Pratt and Scarlett Johansson on Forbes’ annual list, which assigns rankings based on the year’s most successful films and the actors who starred in them.

     

    Pratt came in second with a combined $1.2bn, thanks to the financial success of comic-book fantasy Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lego Movie, in which he provided the lead voice role.

     

    Johansson made it to the third spot with a total of $1.18bn after appearing in superhero sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Lucy and Under the Skin.

  • Bradley Cooper set to be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy

    Bradley Cooper set to be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy

    MUMBAI: The deal with Marvel studios has assured Cooper’s voice for the hero Rocket Racoon. This will be the first time he will be a part of a superhero movie as well as lending his voice to a character. It is produced by Marvel studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

    The film has already begun filming and Cooper is the final name to the list. He joins Chris Pratt, Benicio Del Toro, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker and John C. Reilly in the cast. The movie is set to release on 1 August next year.

    Cooper is repped by CAA. He was previously seen in the highly acclaimed movie Silver Linings Playbook, for which he was nominated in the Oscars. Guardians of the Galaxy is based on a Marvel Comics of the same name.
