    Dish TV brings back Gaurav Goel to chart new growth path

    NEW DELHI: In a move aimed at sharpening its strategic focus, Dish TV has reappointed Gaurav Goel as chief strategy officer and senior management personnel, effective July 4. The decision was signed off by the board in a meeting on 3 July, following a nod from the nomination and remuneration committee. The company informed the Bombay stock exchange of the development through a regulatory filing. 

    Goel, a member of the promoter group, is no stranger to the satellite TV giant. He previously played a pivotal role in streamlining operations and driving business strategy during his earlier stint. With a background in digital transformation and partnerships, he is now expected to power Dish TV’s next wave of evolution in the increasingly digital DTH battlefield.

    A graduate of the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver, Goel is known for his strategic foresight and analytical chops, qualities Dish TV will be betting on as it navigates a shifting media landscape.

    The board also noted the exit of Rajeev Kumar Dalmia from senior management, effective end of business 3 July, due to a change in contractual terms.

    Menon is a professional with over 25 years of experience in mergers & acquisitions, strategy and consulting with a specialisation in media, digital, gaming & consumer internet domains.

    He has been associated with KPMG for 21 years out of which 14 years were spent in the deal advisory practice covering strategy and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory. He has also had an entrepreneurial stint heading a film studio venture and also held the role of head strategy at Balaji Telefilms.

    Mumbai: Brightcove announced the appointment of David Beck as its chief strategy and corporate development officer. Beck will lead strategy, business development and corporate development for the company.

    Working closely with Brightcove CEO Marc DeBevoise, Beck will be focused on developing strategies that enhance current offerings and create opportunities to expand Brightcove’s existing businesses. His broad remit will also focus on enabling Brightcove to expand into new markets and lines of business utilizing its market-leading software platform.

    At AMC, Beck led the strategy to accelerate AMC’s streaming business model transformation, including its integrated linear, subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) (AMC+), and advertising video-on-demand/ free ad-supported streaming television (AVOD/FAST) services and partnerships for business-to-business (B2B) and direct-to-consumer (DTC) distribution.

    He also drove the modernization of its core operations across AMC, BBC America, Sundance TV, IFC, and WE TV. Prior to his time at AMC, David served as the EVP, corporate strategy and operations at WarnerMedia, and chief strategy officer of TNT and TBS. He is also the co-founder of advisory and investment firm BRAVE Ventures, acquired by Turner (now Warner Bros. Discovery).

    Dev brings with him close to two decades of experience in the full mix of communications, spanning digital marketing, content marketing, public relations and multimedia production. Most recently, Dev was leading the digital mandate for PepsiCo’s Asia, Middle-East and North Africa operations.

    Mumbai: Ogilvy has promoted Arvind Srivastava to the position of chief strategy officer of Ogilvy Asia. He succeeds Benoit Wiesser, who will be relocating to Europe.

    Srivastava started his career as a CRM planner at OgilvyOne Delhi and has spent nearly 18 years with Ogilvy Asia in various strategic planning roles across the markets. He is currently serving as chief strategy officer, Ogilvy China. “Srivastava will continue to work from Shanghai where he has been since 2016,” said the company.

    “Arvind has done an outstanding job for Ogilvy Asia for nearly 20 years in various strategy roles across several Asian markets,” said co-chief executive Asia and chief executive Greater China Chris Reitermann. “He has a deep understanding of the evolving strategy needs of our Clients and brings a great mix of business, brand and digital strategy to our offer.     Mumbai: GroupM, the media investment group of WPP on Tuesday announced the appointment of Parthasarathy Mandayam (Maps) as GroupM South Asia’s chief strategy officer (CSO) and Amin Lakhani, who is elevated to the role of Mindshare South Asia’s chief executive officer (CEO), which was earlier led by Maps.

    GroupM continues to invest in its talent, creating a strong leadership pipeline for the future driving the GroupM transformation journey for clients, partners, and internal teams, said the media company in a statement. “Both Maps and Amin have also helped m/SIX, Neo India, and Neo GDS grow significantly and become significant players within the industry,” it added.

    “We have witnessed a significant consolidation of existing businesses, with deeper penetration of our new core offerings under their tutelage,” remarked GroupM South Asia CEO Prasanth Kumar. “Both have been instrumental in strengthening and reinvigorating the agency as it stands today.     With more than 25 years of experience in the advertising and communication industry, Maps has successfully managed multiple leadership roles in Mindshare – across data, analytics, strategy, client leadership and business unit leadership. Starting his career with Mindshare in 2009 as head of the newly created ‘business planning’ function, he went on to lead the North, East, and South offices. Later as chief product officer, he led specialist teams in driving strategic initiatives and creating bespoke tools that delivered client delight and recognition. He helped create diverse communities and a culture of learning and sharing. He has also been integral to the Mindshare new business powerhouse over the past decade.

    The role of GroupM’s chief strategy officer will be to channel data, technology, consumer understanding to chart the growth and transformation agenda. Map’s appointment into the new role is part of the strategy that envisions doubling the focus with a significant shift on new-age technologies, products and offerings that require a transformation of both GroupM and client businesses. He will report to Prasanth Kumar.

    Lakhani has more than 20 years of experience in various roles in Mindshare and GroupM. In his previous role as Mindshare South Asia’s chief operating officer, he has been instrumental in driving the best practices and strengthening key client relationships. Earlier in his career as the leader for Mindshare Fulcrum South Asia, he successfully led the integration of the digital business of Unilever in India, leading the team to the most coveted win of a Grand Prix at Cannes. 

    “We want to build on this existing momentum and drive Mindshare ‘Good Growth’ for our clients,” stated Amin Lakhani. “New age data, technology, creativity, research, consulting, and products will play a major role in this journey.     A brand strategist and communication veteran, Iyer has been instrumental in creating immense brand wealth within a number of consumer categories for organisations. Over a journey spanning more than 25 years, he has led the execution of transformational brand strategy for a number of international and Indian brands. His last stint was with Publicis Groupe, where he worked as EVP and head of office.

    Mumbai: Global technology brand OnePlus has elevated its vice president, chief strategy officer, and head of sales in India, Navnit Nakra, to the role of OnePlus India CEO and head of the brand for India region.

    As part of this new senior leadership role, Nakra will spearhead the company’s business operations and overall strategy for the India region, said the statement.

    Mumbai: Brand and communications consultancy Tilt Brand Solutions on Tuesday announced the appointment of Gulshan Singh as chief strategy officer, effective 23 August. Singh will work along with Paul Dueman, also a chief strategy officer, who was brought in a year back. Both Singh and Dueman will be reporting to Tilt Brand Solutions, founder chairman and managing director, Joseph George (Joe).
