    Cheil Worldwide SW Asia to illuminate Halonix

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide SW Asia has been awarded the complete creative communications mandate for Halonix Technolgies’ consumer lighting business in a multi-agency pitch.

    A known name in the lighting sector, Halonix has emerged as one of the largest manufacturers of compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), LED and Halogen lamps, suitable for commercial as well as residential establishments. This aggressive consumer lighting marketing strategy is aimed at achieving a lead position for brand Halonix in the consumer lighting segment.

    Confirming the win, Cheil Worldwide SW Asia COO Hari Krishnan said, “These are exciting times at Cheil India. Given our strong, digital, retail, visual merchandising and shopper marketing arms, the move is to integrate so that the sum of our parts is greater than the whole.   • Leigh Dennis joins Mind Design Lab from Callison

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide has appointed Leigh Dennis as global VP brand experience and managing director of its Munich-based design house Mind Design Laboratory (MD Lab).

    MD Lab specializes in the creation of fully integrated brand experience solutions.

    Dennis joins Cheil Worldwide from Callison, a design agency specialising in Retail Experience Design and Delivery, where he was managing principal of London and New York offices.

    Dennis will report to Cheil Worldwide global COO Michael Kim.

    Kim said, “Cheil Worldwide is continuing to sharpen its leadership with the appointment of Leigh, and we are very excited about his addition to our worldwide team.   • Jaibeer Ahmad quits Saatchi & Saatchi to join Cheil Worldwide

    MUMBAI: Saatchi & Saatchi vice president Jaibeer Ahmad has decided to move on from the agency after a stint of over two years.

    Ahmad is on his way to join Cheil Worldwide. However, his designation at Cheil is still not announced.

    He will continue to be based in New Delhi. His responsibilities at Saatchi & Saatchi included driving top line growth through organic and new business development, relationship management, ownership of the strategic and creative output for all brands, team building, retention and training.

    Ahmad has over 12 years of experience in advertising and marketing. He has worked across multiple product categories including Telecom, FMCG, Durables, Online and Media others. He has worked with brands like Airtel, Nestle, LG, Samsung, Whirplool, SC Johnson, Carlsberg, OLX and India Today.

    Prior to joining Saatchi & Saatchi, he had also worked with DRAFTFCB+Ulka Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather, Lowe Lintas, Samsung Electronics, Rediffusion DYR and RKSwamy BBDO.

  • Cheil Worldwide gets Diana Cawley to head global retail

    MUMBAI: Seoul-based global advertising group Cheil Worldwide has appointed Diana Cawley as head of global retail.

    The company has been pushing hard to further develop retail businesses which gives it an integrated shape and allows it to create work that goes beyond traditional advertising. The appointment is part of a global growth strategy by Cheil Worldwide.

    Cawley, who was managing director of Leo Burnett Group‘s brand activation shop Arc London, will report to Cheil Worldwide COO Michael Kim.

    Her responsibility is to strengthen Cheil‘s retail capability across the global network through shopper insights and creative thinking.

    Cawley has been in the advertising industry for 26 years, during which time she has worked with clients including: Bosch, Coca Cola, Chrysler Jeep, Halifax, P&G, McDonald‘s, Samsung and Tesco.

    Her last stint was with Arc London as managing director.

    Cheil Worldwide COO Michael Kim said, “Having Diana on board demonstrates our commitment to further focus on retail and shopper marketing, key areas to for an integrated agency.   • Hari Krishnan joins Cheil Worldwide SW Asia as COO

    MUMBAI: Hari Krishnan has joined Cheil Worldwide SW Asia as chief operating officer.

    Krishnan joins from WPP where he was head of the global team on the Ford account. The team members were drawn from JWT, Mindshare and Wunderman.

    Krishnan will start his new role from January 2013 and lead Cheil Worldwide SW Asia’s growth agenda. He will aim at enhancing the agency’s record for delivering diverse communications solutions and make it a strong integrated agency.

    Krishnan’s career in advertising and communications spans over two decades during which he has held senior leadership roles with JWT India, Grey Worldwide and Bates India, among others. As the head of WPP Global Team Ford he set up the first co-located office of three different specialist agencies for WPP in the Asia-Pacific Region.

    Prior to establishing WPP Global Team Ford India, Krishnan was at JWT India as executive business director, PepsiCo Beverages, where he led agency teams on the PepsiCo portfolio comprising Pepsi Cola, Slice, Mountain Dew, Mirinda, Tropicana and Aquafina. At Grey, Krishnan led the agency as general manager and branch head of its New Delhi office. Prior to that at Bates India, he played a pivotal role in consolidating the teams after the Bates takeover of Clarion. Preceding this, he was with Ogilvy & Mather, and Anthem (now TBWA).

  • Cheil Worldwide SW Asia appoints Saurabh Mathur as senior VP

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide SW Asia has brought on board Saurabh Mathur as senior vice president – client servicing as part of the agency’s strategy of building a strong integrated local team. He will be leading Cheil India’s client servicing team and working closely with Cheil Worldwide SW Asia president and head of regional headquarters John Koo.

    Before joining Cheil, Mathur was with Dentsu, where he led the agency’s efforts on all key businesses including Aircel’s Wifi and 3G campaigns, Panasonic business and launch of the Ingersoll Rand group in India.

    Koo said, “Cheil’s SW Asia’s operations are growing at an extraordinary pace. Saurabh’s rich experience and stellar track record makes him ideal to lead the client servicing team. He is highly energetic and is well aligned with the agency vision and philosophy Cheil India to manage the growing business.”

    Mathur has 20 years experience in advertising and has worked with ad agencies like JWT, Contract and Grey. Prior to joining Dentsu, Mathur was at Contract where he was involved with brands like DelMonte in India besides leading the communication efforts for Dabur’s Hair Care and Glucose businesses, Spice Group’s mobile handsets and retail business. At Grey, he launched Suzuki Motorcycles and Ebony Gautier apart from handling other businesses like Wrigley-JoyCo, India Today group, Ranbaxy, Haier, Genpact and Halonix. During his eight-year stint at JWT, he worked on some iconic brands like Pepsico’s Kurkure, Nestle’s Maggi, Reebok, HT, ITC Hotels, Swatch Group and Hero Honda.

  • Cheil Worldwide to handle Deutsche Bahn account

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide has been appointed by Germany‘s national rail operator Deutsche Bahn as its advertising partner.

    The mandate includes strategy, creative concept, execution and long-term strategy in these fields.

    Cheil will be advising Deutsche Bahn on mobile marketing and complex digital projects such as management of portal site (bahn.com) to engage consumers online.

    Deutsche Bahn is a leading local public transport and rail freight in Europe. It has 27,000 trains that carry 7.3 million passengers every day.

    Cheil Germany COO Volker Selle said, “This is the victory of the whole agency and our spirit of Tuhon, the relentless drive to succeed, is alive in Germany.     The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has assigned Cheil to handle their advertising, strategic planning and communication requirements. The DEWA provides electricity and water for the Emirate of Dubai. Cheil will support the consumer relations, corporate marketing strategies and CSR initiatives for DEWA .

    In China Cheil has been chosen to provide marketing services for CITIC Guoan wine. Cheil‘s raft of new clients are varied in terms of industry and region includes Net4India (ICT) in India, Jaguar (automotive) and Sorgenia (power and natural gas) in Italy, Estee-Lauder (cosmetics) in France, Intel (semiconductor) in Turkey, Audi (automotive) in Singapore, Volvo (automotive) in Thailand, Baltika (beer) in Russia and China Mobile Communications Corporation (telecommunications) in the Middle Kingdom.

    These wins are in line with Cheil‘s efforts to become relevant to their clients on a local level. It has also indulged in the recruitment of local executives to run local offices. Cheil also has investments in other agency brands that retain their own identities and distinct service offerings. These include acquiring a stake in Beattie McGuinness Bungay, a London-based agency as well as scooping US-based McKinney and Bravo in China. All in all, it has won 60 global clients this year.

  • Cheil WW expands leadership team

    MUMBAI: Cheil Worldwide SW Asia has strengthened its leadership with appointments in leadership positions across three verticals.
    The agency has appointed Vikas Khanna to the post of head – activations, while Rajesh Bhatia joins as head interactive and Manish Shukla as head of retail.

    Bhatia comes in from Euro RSCG 4D where he was president while Khanna‘s last stint was with G2Rams, a WPP group company aligned with Grey Worldwide where he was VP and branch head. Shukla joins the agency from Retailscape.

    Bhatia is a digital evangelist with over 17 years of work experience and has been driving innovative digital and integrated marketing strategies for global brands including Nokia, IBM, Max Life Insurance, Airtel, Reckitt Bencksier (Dettol, Harpic, Vanish, Veet, Mortein) and Unilever.

    Bhatia joined the world of digital and data led consumer marketing almost a decade ago and has been a part of the evolution of new age communication in India and has been helping brands transition from traditional marketing communication to effective marketing in the digital world. He has been instrumental in the creation of one of virtual community ? igenius for Max Life Insurance.

    Prior to Euro RSCG 4D, Bhatia has held senior level positions with Solutions Digitas, IDC and Onida across various digital and consumer marketing domains.

    Khanna has over 13 years of experience in the field of events, BTL and activation and has a longstanding portfolio of client relationships. Over the years he has managed brands including BlackBerry (RIM), Cisco, Audi, BMW, M3M, Genpact, Hyundai, GE, Canara HSBC, ITDC and HTC. Prior to G2Rams Khanna has worked with George P Johnson, 360 Degrees, Magnum Nexus Private Limited, Showtime Events India Pvt. Ltd. etc.

    Shukla moves from Retailscape which he set up in 1996. Prior to this he has worked with Lintas, JWT, Gillette, Coca?Cola India. He is an honorary member of POPAI, an industry body and has chaired the organization in the past. He is also on the board of advisor to Point of Purchase Magazine and In?Store Asia.

    Shukla brings with him a wide range of business expertise, experience and relationships in the area of retail marketing and management. Over the years he has consulted to a wide range of clients such as HUL?Wall‘s Ice cream ? Danone International, Evian, PepsiCo, Coca?Cola, Bacardi ? Martini, Bharat Shell, Braun, Parker, Airtel, Shaw Wallace, Samsung, LG – CDMA Phones and Barista Coffee Bars.

  • Alok Agrawal quits Cheil Worldwide

    MUMBAI: After a stint of over four years, Cheil Worldwide South West Asia chief operating officer Alok Agarwal has decided to move on.

    Agarwal‘s next assignment is still unknown.

    He has an experience of over two decades in advertising, branding, communication and marketing. He had joined Cheil Worldwide, India in 2008.

    Prior to joining Cheil, he had worked with Bates as executive vice president for almost five years. He had also worked with Grey Worldwide and IndiaEuro RSCG, India.

  • Contract’s Nima Namchu to join Cheil Worldwide as ECD

    MUMBAI: Contract Advertising‘s Nima Namchu has put in his papers and is expected to join Cheil Worldwide as ECD.

    At present, Namchu is serving his notice period at Contract where he is designated as executive creative director.

    Cheil WW-SW Asia COO Alok Agrawal said, “Cheil SW Asia has been growing at a rapid pace, gaining traction both on account of new business and current client portfolio. We have been steadily improving our creative product and the proof was the recent win at Cannes. Nima is a highly accomplished creative person and I am happy to have him on board. His joining completes the creative trilogy at Cheil India, and along with Varun and Ravi we will be a creative force to reckon with. “

    Namchu has over 19 years of experience in the advertising industry. He started his career as a copywriter at Sista‘s Delhi (Now Saatchi & Saatchi). He had joined Contract Advertising in May 2008. Prior to Contract, he had also worked with TBWA Anthem – Delhi, Capital Advertising, McCann Erickson New Delhi and Publicis India.

    His creative expertise lies in creative strategy, creative direction, creative development, brand development and brand communication.
