  • Samsung claims max women empowerment campaign viewership

MUMBAI: Samsung India’s popular digital campaign showcasing its citizenship initiative ‘Samsung Technical School’ is being claimed to have crossed 80 million views on YouTube in just four weeks of its launch. In this period, the video has been viewed by a record 24 million women, the highest for any advertising video on YouTube in India.

The campaign #SapneHueBade is the fastest growing among women viewers in India. It showcases the true story of a young girl, Seema Nagar, from a small village near Jaipur, who, with her resilience overcomes social stereotypes and becomes a trained technician, making her family proud.

“With the Samsung Technical School initiative, we aim to skill the youth of this country from humble backgrounds by imparting advanced training on latest consumer durables and mobile phones. This initiative contributes to the government’s vision of enhancing skills amongst youth. The brief given to the agency was to deliver a real life story from within Samsung Technical School that would inspire a whole generation of girls to take up technical education and also encourage parents to support the girl child. We are glad that 24 million women have loved and shared it with their family and friends, helping in our attempt to break social stereotypes,” said Samsung India chief marketing officer Ranjivjit Singh.

The digital film showcases how Samsung cares for dreams of girls in India. It revolves around the real life story of Seema Nagar, the trials and tribulations she goes through before entering Samsung Technical School and how it enables her to dream big. The protagonist in the video, who got trained at Samsung Technical School, Jaipur, currently works at the Samsung Service Center in the same city. She is now on her path to realize her dream of opening a service center in her village.

“Advertising stories that celebrate the strong woman usually focus on the superhuman efforts of the trailblazers. In reality, the front line of the fight is in the mundane and the routine. This is where brave girls like Seema Nagar are marking their territory and overturning perceptions every day. Our attempt to bring to life Seema’s journey brought together a terrific acting ensemble. Added to it is the magic of Wadali Brothers’ voices,” said Cheil India executive creative director Tarvinderjit Singh.

Samsung Technical School, which is a part of Samsung’s citizenship initiative, was started in 2013 and aims to support the government’s vision to make India a global manufacturing hub by addressing the need for talented manpower with practical know-how and relevant industry experience. There are 22 such centres set up across India in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Departments of Technical Education in different states such as Rajasthan, Kerala, Bihar, Delhi, West Bengal, Karnataka and Jharkhand.

Reinforcing its commitment to the government’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, Samsung also announced the MSME-Samsung Technical School Scholarship program for girls and differently-abled trainees.

These schools have so far trained over 2,000 youth and made them job-ready across different technical trades. Around 70% of these students have got jobs, 45% of them with Samsung service centres. The initiative is part of Samsung’s ‘Make for India’ initiative and contributes to the government’s Skill India mission.

  • Adidas’s TVC shows less popular sports

MUMBAI: Adidas has launched its latest initiative-FanTheFire to focus attention on athletes who pursue lesser followed sports.

Conceptualised by Cheil India, the digital film features Nishchay Luthra, an Indian figure skater who has won four international medals for India and is a nine-time national gold medalist. Nishchay’s inspiring story is told from the point of view of his mother – his biggest fan, who is narrating Nishchay’s journey in pursuit of his dreams.

The initiative, through the lens of Nishchay, highlights the challenges faced by athletes who choose to pursue a sport other than cricket and their journey in the pursuit of excellence. In a country where cricket and, to some extent, hockey, football, tennis and badminton, are the sports that receive some glory, it is extremely difficult to take up other sports such as ice-skating, gymnastics and athletics etc.

In India, it is not the dearth of talent or the lack of fire in their belly, but the lack of opportunity and backing of the nation which does not encourage other such athletes to take up alternate sports. Through this initiative, adidas wants to trigger awareness and recognition for such athletes.

Adidas India senior MD Sean van Wyk said, “At adidas we truly believe that through sport, we have the power to change lives. With #FanTheFire, we seek to shine a spotlight on athletes and sports which are not mainstream, and in turn, inspire the next generation to take up such sports. The campaign urges fan’s to support Nishchay and we hope that the encouragement of better-known athlete’s will help him gain the necessary patronage to reach his aim of winning a medal at the Winter Games in 2018. This is our commitment to provide the fuel for Nishchay Luthra and many more like him.”

This film on Nishchay Luthra, is the first in adidas’ initiative to draw attention to lesser known athletes who require the support of the nation. adidas aims to continue the campaign through other initiatives in an endeavour to make a difference to the pursuit of sport in India.

Cheil India head – digital Sanjeev Jasani said, “It is important to live the difference! adidas is a brand of today that always encourages us to think out of the box and create campaigns that captivate the audience like no other. #FanTheFire campaign dwells on one of India’s perennial issues – sports beyond cricket. We feel proud of giving life to such a thought provoking campaign. We hope it fans the fire among the people of India and Nishchay gets his much deserving fans cheering for him in the coming Winter Games.”

Cheil India executive creative director Vijay Simha said, “In India, Cricket enjoys a disproportionately high amount of attention. The rest of the sports are simply out of sight, out of mind. Once in a leap year, a Bindra or a Karmakar happens. The media milks the nation’s collective guilt, and soon we all forget. This was gnawing away at us, as we discovered a series of stories about Indian athletes living in obscurity and even penury. Fan the Fire was borne out of our instinctive urge to help the underdog.”

Samsung’s new campaign on customer service

MUMBAI: Samsung India recently launched a nationwide digital and television campaign showcasing its initiative to take customer service to the doorsteps of consumers in the hinterlands.

The new campaign – conceptualised by Cheil India and unveiled across 50 channels — showcases the journey of a young Samsung engineer, who is on his way to help with services in a remote village in India. The commercial underlines Samsung’s vision of creating long-term relationship with its consumers through timely service.

Samsung India CMO Ranjivjit Singh said their new initiative of expanding to rural India, right up to the taluka level, helps them in taking care of their valued customers, wherever they were. The new campaign video gives a glimpse of yet another initiative towards ‘Make for India’ commitment.

Cheil India CCO Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar said even the most advanced products needed some TLC once in a while. While others might expect visiting the service centres, Samsung visits the consumer instead. That’s the measure of Samsung’s emotional investment in its customers.

Posterscope partners Cheil India for Samsung’s Gear S2

MUMBAI: Samsung’s media agency Cheil along with Dentsu Aegis Network’s out of home agency Posterscope have successfully executed a high impact and high visibility innovation to celebrate the launch of Samsung Gear S2.

As part of the partnership, the key task for Posterscope was to highlight the core features of Samsung Gear S2 by disrupting the OOH landscape. The target audience was SEC A1, A2, A3 male within the 25-44 age bracket, people who are early adopters of technology, lead an active lifestyle and always ready to stay connected. Cheil India developed the concept and creative.

Posterscope Group India, Posterscope Asia Pacific regional director and MD Haresh Nayak said, “I am extremely honoured to be associated with this campaign. The world is currently standing in the midst of massive technological advancements and our consumers in India are not just aware but also exposed to these evolutions while sitting at home. Therefore, the campaign that we executed had to be such that it could stand up to a world-class quality. And I am glad that we have stood tall and delivered so well.”

While the objective entailed the highlighting of the dynamic features of the watch, it could not be met a vanilla 2D approach towards OOH. Thus, Posterscope recommended the use of LEDs to create an innovative display that would do justice to the objective and serve the required impact.

Adding a layer of efficacy to this innovative campaign was a well thought-out media plan that was designed by Posterscope. Based on their deep understanding of the target consumer, which was derived from their primary research (OCS), patented analytical tools (PRISM) and accumulated understanding, Posterscope zeroed down on specific locations in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi NCR to conduct the project. Trade points were the focus in Mumbai while it were the IT parks in Bangalore. Innovation was done at DND toll road, which is a major entry point in the city from Noida.
