Charlie Sheen wants to make amendments with Chuck Lorre

MUMBAI: Charlie Sheen turned many heads two years ago when he hurled abuses publically at Chuck Lorre, his Two And A Half Men boss and the channel CBS, after a fallout with them. The actor, infamous for his antics, has done the same again – this time, in order to making amendments with Lorre.

Apparently, the actor recently took to the social-networking site, Twitter, to reach out to Lorre. The actor wrote, “hey Chuck. I have an idea that u need to hear after I make amends to you and yours. which I will do in person.” Attached to this message was a picture of People’s Choice Award for Two and a Half Men from 2007.

Sheen, who now stars on Anger Management for FX, was fired from Two and a Half Men in 2011 after publicly insulting Lorre and his bosses on the CBS/Warner Bros. He objected to his firing and later included Lorre as a defendant in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit.

Amber Tamblyn to play Charlie’s daughter in ‘Two and a Half Men’

MUMBAI: CBS’ Two and a Half Men has found Charlie Harper’s long-lost daughter.

House alum Amber Tamblyn has been tapped to join the Chuck Lorre comedy as a recurring guest star for season 11.

The Joan of Arcadia star will play Jenny, the illegitimate lesbian daughter of Charlie (Charlie Sheen), who moves to LA to pursue acting and connect with what’s left of her family. She likes everything her dad liked – including women. Tamblyn will recur in at least five episodes of the CBS comedy, with an option to become a series regular.

CBS renewed Men in April for an 11th season, with Angus T. Jones’ role reduced to a recurring status as the 19-year-old attends college – something that Lorre champions, as the young actor has spent more time on a TV set than at school.

“It’s really commendable that he wants to make that the next part of his life,” Lorre said, acknowledging Jones’ controversial remarks aimed at the show that made him a star. “He misstepped last year, and it’s just not fair to judge him on that. I certainly hope he comes back from time to time. But for now he’s embarking on a new life.”

Tamblyn most recently starred in CBS’ Anatomy of Violence drama pilot from the creators of Homeland. It was passed over in May. Her credits include episodes of Portlandia and Inside Amy Schumer as well as 127 Hours, Django Unchained and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies.

Charlie Sheen invests in an OTT company

MUMBAI: The Digital Development Group (DIDG) (DigiDev), a Hollywood-based Over the Top (OTT) TV, technology, content acquisition and distribution company, has announced that actor Charlie Sheen has invested in the company.

The funds will be used to help the company expand its original programming and other content. This comes on the heels of Sheen‘s recent deal with DigiDev for the development and creation of the Charlie Sheen Cyber TV channel.

DigiDev president Joe Q. Bretz said, “Charlie understands the power of this new TV technology and his fertile mind has already begun to shape his upcoming channel. Old fans and new fans will see the uncensored Charlie Sheen take on the role of the ‘outspoken‘ spokesperson for the new generation.”

“Internet television is on fire with Bloomberg reporting that Netflix tops cable networks with 4-billion viewing hours in the past three months, and Mediapost.com forecasting that OTT (Internet TV) will hit $20 billion by 2015, which explains why in addition to Netflix, Google, and Apple, others are charging into this arena. DigiDev will continue to create new, cutting-edge programming, while increasing its channel count with an eclectic mix of compelling programming,” Bretz added.

Sheen said, “Joe and his crew have built an amazing machine and I‘m looking forward to the launch of my channel. My investment in DigiDev is a vote of confidence, confidence in Joe and confidence in the industry”.

Charlie Sheen to play US prez

MUMBAI: Charlie Sheen is in talks to play the US president in Machete Kills, the sequel of Machete.
Announcing the same on Twitter, director Rodriguez wrote, ” I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon…” . On his part, Sheen re-tweeted the message and is now heard that one of his representative has said that negotiations are taking place.
Rodriguez is currently in production of the film, which will again star Danny Trejo as Machete, Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara and Zoe Saldana.
The new story sees Machete being called upon by the US government to stop a cartel leader and an arms dealer who have a weapon in space. The broadly-written part initially called for the president to be African-American and have a basketball court on the White House lawn but has since been rewritten.

MGM to honour director Oliver Stone at Cannes

MUMBAI: Oliver Stone will receive the first annual Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Leo The Lion Award on 21 May at the Cannes Film Festival.

The award will be presented to Stone by MGM chairman and CEO Harry Sloan, at a cocktail reception to be held at the Majestic Hotel.

The award has been established to recognise and encourage artistic excellence in individuals who, through significant contributions to filmmaking, have made an indelible impact on the overall value and merit of the library of MGM released films as well as on the world’s movie going public.

Stone’s first film on the Vietnam war – Platoon – starring Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe, Tom Berenger and Forest Whitaker, will have a special screening. Platoon which earned $135 million at the US box office during its 1986 release and won the Oscar for Best Picture, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Sloan says, “Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is proud of its film legacy. This year we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Oliver Stone’s Platoon. This was not just another war film. It was written and directed by a combat veteran who brought an authenticity to cinema that had not been seen before, and consequently set the standard for all other films concerning the US involvement in Vietnam. MGM is honoured that the 2006 Cannes Film Festival has scheduled a special anniversary presentation of Platoon.”

Stone says, “Getting to make Platoon was one of the highlights of my life. To have it shown 20 years later in this great garden of cinema is a deep honour.” MGM COO Rick Sands confirmed that Oliver Stone, Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe who star in the film would be travelling to Cannes for the special anniversary presentation.
