  • Fifty Shades of Grey release date postponed

Fifty Shades of Grey release date postponed

MUMBAI: The release of the highly anticipated film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has been extended by six months. The film was originally intended to release on 1 August 2014, but now the film will hit theatres in February 2015 on the same weekend as Valentine’s Day.

The delay has probably happened because after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the male lead role, the shooting was put back.

Now, Jamie Dornan will be portraying the role of Christian Grey, opposite Dakota Johnson.

The British actor has earlier worked in BBC drama The Fall and US fantasy series Once Upon A Time.

Published in 2011, Fifty Shades of Grey follows the sexually charged relationship between billionaire Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.

MUMBAI: Jamie Dornan is all set to play Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the superhit novel, Fifty Shades of Grey that is expected to go on floor in November.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ adaptation of the book was to have Charlie Hunnam as the lead earlier, who backed out of the project more than a week ago. Negotiations with Dornan are in progress.

Dornan is the star of the UK series The Fall and is also known for playing The Huntsman in ABC’s Once Upon A Time. Dakota Johnson will be the female lead for the movie. A release date of August 1, 2014 has been set. If the first movie does well, then Dornan could stay on for the rest of the movies in the series as well.

Juno Temple and Frank Grillo were also offered roles but they too turned it down. Dornan has been in the news earlier for dating Kiera Knightley for a while.

MUMBAI: Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has officially been set to play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, the Universal Pictures and Focus Features adaptation of the runaway bestselling book series.

Hunnam, who had been rumored for weeks, more recently starred in the Guillermo Del Toro-directed Pacific Rim. Author EL James made the casting official on her Twitter page. Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing a script by Kelly Marcel and Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing along with the author.

This follows after the official casting of Dakota Johnson to play the role of Anastasia Steele. Grey is the young, wealthy industrialist with a dark past who favors S&M relationships. His loyalty to the dominant-submissive subset is tested when he meets the young college graduate Anastasia Steele, who seems like the perfect girl for him.

Benedict Cumberbatch exits Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak’

MUMBAI: Benedict Cumberbatch has exited Crimson Peak, the Legendary screamer being directed by Guillermo del Toro.

The reason for his departure is unknown, although sources claim his exit is not due to another project.

Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska remain on board to star in the four-hander gothic horror story that centers on a woman who discovers that her husband might not be who he appears to be.

Peak is scheduled to shoot in January, and the exit at this early stage gives del Toro plenty of time to find a replacement. The filmmaker has already shown he can roll with the punches when he quickly cast Wasikowska after Emma Stone fell off the movie.

Cumberbatch is entering a busy period where many of his completed films will hit screens. Dreamworks’ The Fifth Estate kicks off the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Fox Searchlight’s 12 Years a Slave opens on 18 October, while the all-star August: Osage County opens this Christmas.

He is also voicing the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and is in preproduction on The Imitation Game, in which he will portray gay cryptographer Alan Turing.
