    Voot adds new titles to April content slate

    Mumbai: Viacom18’s AVOD service Voot is expanding its content library with “Brochara S2” and “Baked: S3” exclusively streaming on the platform on 18 and 25 April, respectively.

    “With these new additions to its content slate, Voot aims to reach out to male audiences across metros, as well as the tier 2 and 3 cities,” said the statement.

    “Brochara S2” is a slice-of-life comedy exploring the nuances of male bonding and friendship in a long-distance relationship. “Baked S3” follows the reunion of three friends after seven years of an unfortunate incident.  

    “At Voot, we have recognised the changing entertainment needs of our viewers and have constantly innovated to deliver content that appeals to all,” said Viacom18 Digital Ventures head –AVOD Chanpreet Arora. “Keeping up the momentum and strengthening our libraries with a focus to appeal to the younger audience, with web series like ‘Brochara’ and ‘Baked,’ we continue to expand our content offerings to bring delightful and relatable content for our existing users, while also attracting new ones. ”

    Poker Sports League S4 to be livestreamed on Voot

    Mumbai: The fourth season of Poker Sports League (PSL) will be live streamed on Viacom18-owned streaming service, Voot. Fairplay News is associated with the tournament as the ‘powered by’ partner.

    PSL season four started on 29 March and will go on till 13 April with six to seven matches every week. This year’s league is in phygital format with Deltin Royale and Adda52 as venue partner and online partner, respectively.

    The season finale will be hosted live on-ground from 20-24 April for the first time since the pandemic.

    “We are thrilled to partner again this year with Voot for our upcoming season,” said Poker Sports League CEO and founder Pranav Bagai. “As our majority of the audience are tech savvy and shifting towards OTT platforms to consume various modes of entertainment, partnering with Voot for streaming was a prudent option. Through this association we endeavour to provide our users with the finest experience of poker possible.”

    The focus of this season are the upcoming qualifiers along with key pro- players, with high investment biddings and significant retainers. There are six teams representing six different Indian provinces, namely Delhi Czars, Deccan Aces, Goan Nuts, Gujarat Falcons, Mumbai Anchors, and Kolkata Kings. A total of 36 qualifiers, 12 pro-players are going to be a part of this season. In addition to these it has six spots for women and six for substitutes.

    “Given the substantial shift in content consumption to digital platforms in India, and the dynamicity of the Indian online poker industry, we decided to reach a wider audience and encourage them to play in every season,” Bagai further said, adding, “Our partnership with Voot will screen an exclusive behind-the-scenes reality show ‘Poker Mantra’ in addition to the live streaming of the league.”

    Dell partners with Voot to launch Dell XPS Youniverse Creators

    Mumbai: Dell Technologies and OTT streaming service Voot are coming together to launch Dell XPS Youniverse Creators.

    The show will focus on creators, who excel in various art forms, coming together in a creative residency to collaborate and create masterpieces using the Dell XPS. Dell XPS Youniverse Creators will be hosted by musician and actor Monica Dogra.

    “The aim of the series is to propel the youth to introspect about what inspires them by capturing a creator’s journey of diving deep into their creations and themselves,” said the statement.

    The show will revolve around 10 artists from different worlds who come together to create five masterpieces. The format of the show is such that in each episode two creators will collaborate and merge their creative templates to co-create a masterpiece. The participants will work on their creation using the Dell XPS laptop.

    The series will feature creators from a plethora of backgrounds – art, photography, music, filmmaking and dance to name a few. The creators include award winning chef Amninder Sahu and documentary photographer Hashim Badani, graffiti Artist Hanif Kureshi and spatial artist Asim Waqif, stylist and content creator Kayaan Contractor and spoken word poet Priya Malik, theatrical pianist Sahil Vasudeva and animator Sidhant Gandhi, actor and movement practitioner Faria Abdullah and visual artist Vimal Chandran.

    Voot inks three-year digital exclusive content partnership with Ullu

    Mumbai: Viacom18 and Voot have announced a content partnership with on-demand streaming platform Ullu. As part of the partnership, Voot will showcase 100 titles from the Ullu library starting from 14 January.

    As a part of the three-year digital exclusive deal, Voot will get access to popular original shows from the Ullu library across thriller, crime, horror, and comedy genres in different languages. These shows are headlined by popular faces such as Rakesh Bapat, Hina Khan, Sharib Hashmi, Rohit Roy, Sharad Malhotra, Anupriya Goenka, Iqbal Khan, Tanushree Dutta, Ashmit Patel, Hiten Tejwani, Minissha Lamba, Rashmi Desai, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, among others

    Voot titles such as “Tandoor,” “Assi Nabbe Pure Sau,” “Panchali,” “Cyanide,” “26th January” will be available on Ullu’s platform from 14 January and other titles like “Peshawar,” “Paper,” “The Bull of Dalal Street,” “Tadap,” and “Pratiksha” will be available from 21 January 2022 onwards.

    The shows will be available in multiple languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, English amongst others.

    KOLKATA: In key leadership appointments, Viacom18 has brought on Chanpreet Arora as AVoD (Voot) business head, and Vineet Govil as chief technology officer of its digital ventures vertical.

    In her new role, Arora will drive Viacom18’s streaming platform Voot and lead partnerships that are key to the OTT’s overall growth. Govil will be responsible for strengthening the product’s tech play by offering a more seamless and immersive experience for consumers.

    Arora has close to two decades of experience across strategy, revenue, partnerships and sales operations with media and digital brands. She was responsible for successfully launching Vice Media in India as its CEO. She was also associated with The New York Times, Times Internet, Buddh International Circuit – Formula One, India, and Ernst & Young in her previous roles.

    Prior to joining Viacom18 Digital Ventures, Govil was heading Sling Media’s (a subsidiary of Dish Network Inc, USA) India Development Centre as vice president. With over 26 years of experience in product and technology development across domains, his career spans across areas of embedded software, multimedia streaming (OTT), IoT and wireless telecom, cloud and more. He was also a part of Sasken Technologies and ISRO Ahmedabad.

    MUMBAI: Vice Media India CEO Chanpreet Arora has stepped down from her position. The veteran, with more than 15 years of experience as a consultant and entrepreneur, joined the organisation in December 2017. Arora has now joined as Journalist Fellow in Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

    She launched the leading global youth brand VICE as a full-scale media company in India and worked in collaboration with some of the most innovative creative teams, brands and personalities.

    As a business and strategy expert, Arora has helped redefine and restructure some of the most reputed entities in media, sports and digital in India and abroad.

    Arora had also served as head of revenue strategy and sales operations at Times Internet. Here, she set up the revenue strategy and sales operations division in 2016 and was a part of the core team that led the restructuring of the company.

    Vice explores India’s gully rap in first documentary for Voot

    MUMBAI: Vice India, a leading youth media brand for the first time has produced a documentary on the gully rap scenario in India named Kya Bolta Bantai for the video on demand platform by Viacom18, Voot. Vice India’s first 30-minute standalone long form documentary charts the evolution of gully rap – an emerging genre of music that is slowly gaining momentum and entering the mainstream, being co-opted by Bollywood and other commercial ventures.

    Kya Bolta Bantai is directed by Naman Saraiya and explores the journey of gully rap through the perspective of pioneers, including crew members such as Dopeadelicz, Swadesi and spoof rappers Gari-B, of comedy collective Tadpatri Talkies.

    This partnership comes as part of the company’s “off-platform” strategy after the announcement of full-scale operations under the Vice.com banner in April this year, to allow its select original as well as partner content to be hosted and promoted to viewers across multiple destinations in the digital ecosystem. For instance, Kanchenjunga Calling, a series that explores the journey of a real-life hero Arjun Vajpai as he attempts to climb Mt Kangchenjunga. Vice India’s first foray into partner content creation in India with Mountain Dew, PepsiCo, is also being distributed on Voot as part of this deal.

Kya Bolta Bantai is an attempt to create content that is relatable to the youth of the country in a unique format of storytelling that is true to the pulse of not only Mumbai, but our country at large,” said Vice India CEO Chanpreet Arora as quoted by Dailyhunt.

    Vice India has been producing local video and editorial content on various topics such as food, music, politics, sports, sex, identity, nightlife, arts, and comedy, in partnership with relevant influencers, brands and artists in the country. In the coming month, it will focus on covering sex-positive stories about sexual identities, sex toys, sex art, and more in India under the banner of ‘The VICE Guide to Sex in India’.

    Chanpreet Arora appointed CEO of Vice Media India

    MUMBAI: Vice Media India has a new sheriff in town. Chanpreet Arora has been appointed as the CEO of the company and is working from the Vice office in Delhi. A veteran with 15 years of experience as a consultant and as an entrepreneur, she has charted strategy and operations along with framing macro policy for regulators in India.

    Arora has been shifted to current role from her position as the head of revenue strategy and sales operations at Times Internet. At Times Internet, she set up the revenue strategy and sales operations division in 2016 and was a part of the core team that led the restructuring of the company, according to her LinkedIn profile. 

    Arora joined the Vice operations earlier this month.

    As a business and strategy expert, Arora has helped redefine and restructure some of the most reputed entities in media, sports and digital in India and abroad.

    In India, Vice Media has partnered the Times of India in a bid to accelerate the business in the country. In June 2017, the US-headquartered company received a capital infusion of $450 million.

    Known for its online videos and edgy reporting, Vice operates a popular YouTube channel and produces news programming for Time Warner’s HBO.
