    Former SC judge Ashok Bhushan appointed as NCLAT chairperson

    Mumbai: The central government on Friday appointed retired Supreme Court judge Ashok Bhushan as chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).

    The post of NCLAT chairperson has been vacant since March 2020. Justice Bhushan has been given a term of four years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is the earliest.

    He has been associated with several landmark judgments, including Ram Mandir, Covid-19 management, and registration of migrant workers.

    The central government has also approved the appointment of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar as the president of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for five years or till he attains the age of 67 years, whichever is the earliest.

    Sudhakar was former chief justice of Manipur high court.

    Mumbai: Portea Medical, a homegrown outside of hospital consumer healthcare company, on Monday announced the appointment of founder Meena Ganesh as chairperson and elevated Vaibhav Tewari to the position of CEO at the company.

    The new appointments have been made with an aim to further synergise and streamline Portea’s operations in the new normal, and efficiently activate the 2023 growth strategy, said the company in a statement. “Portea plans to strengthen its remote monitoring teams and technology, create hybrid offerings that best use technology and on-ground presence,” it added.

    In her new capacity, Ganesh will be building strategy, M&A, driving advocacy and relationships with stakeholders such as institutional partners, government bodies, investors and external communication. On the other hand, Tewari will be working on company growth, strategy rollout, building business, and deploying technologies.

    Tewari said that during the pandemic, the company supported COVID care through remote monitoring as well as on-ground deployment of resources, medical equipment and technology and also provided complex hospital-based procedures such as cancer care and dialysis at home. “We have created our strategic vision for 2023 with an aim to take our digital-first healthcare services to more people and territories across India. At the same time, we will use automation and other technologies to enhance the experience of people availing our services as well as our on-ground caregivers,” he said.

    “In the wake of the pandemic, there has been a much greater adoption and demand for digital healthcare services. We, therefore, felt the need to further strengthen our digital capabilities and expand our footprint as well as services’ portfolio,” said Ganesh. “In the last one and a half year, we have worked closely with all stakeholders and served millions of people in various ways across the country. The situation has not only created a favorable atmosphere for digital healthcare in India, but also clearly highlighted the areas where stronger digitisation strategies are required. Vaibhav and I have worked in tandem since the outset, and now it is a great opportunity for us to take Portea forward with him as the CEO.”

    Mumbai: Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd on Wednesday announced that veteran banker and HDFC Bank’s former CEO & MD Aditya Puri has joined its board as the chairperson. Puri will also head the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of Solara’s board.

    “Aditya Puri, former MD of HDFC Bank and a senior advisor to a large PE fund, joins Solara board as the chairperson,” the pharmaceutical company said in a BSE filing.

    The company said it has inducted new members to the board for “thought leadership, capability, diversity, and strategic experience to drive the business and financial outcomes for Solara Version 2.0.” 

    The newly appointed members on the board also include Aurore Life Sciences founder Rajender Rao who has joined as an executive director and vice-chairman.

    Former IAS officer and revenue secretary Vineeta Rai has been appointed as an independent director. She will chair the CSR committee of the board. 

    Kartheek Raju, a partner at iLabs group, has joined the Solara board as a non-executive director.

    The company further said that its founder Arun Kumar will be the non-executive director on the board

    MUMBAI: The times aren’t doing so well for news channels; and to present the facts without any bias is of utmost importance to many.

    Hence, to constantly keep a check on its editorial NDTV 24X7 has appointed an ombudsman to regulate the content on the channel.

    Former attorney general of India Soli Sorabjee has agreed to come on board as an ombudsman who will provide independent perspective on the coverage of the channel as well as investigate into complaints by viewers. It is also a first such initiative by a news channel.

    NDTV editorial director and president of the Ethics Committee Sonia Singh said, “Every day, we in the media face new editorial challenges regarding journalistic boundaries and we are delighted that Sorabjee will, with his unchallenged integrity, be able to provide much needed insight and advice.”
        

    A new link has been created called www.ndtv.com/soli to address the issues. Speaking on his appointment NDTV Group vice chairperson KVL Narayan Rao said, “Soli Sorabjee is an independent, highly respected, highly regarded legal luminary, with years of experience in handling issues relating to freedom of expression and freedom of the press and censorship. We are delighted he has agreed to be the Ombudsman for NDTV.”

    As a jurist he has argued several cases of constitutional importance in HCs and SCs particularly relating to freedom of press, censorship etc.
