Earlier, the Censor board had banned two posters of the film where in one poster the actress shows her bare back while in the other she is seen in a compromising position with a man.

The Board cleared the other six posters only after the bare body of the actress was painted in blue.

Confirming the ban in Pakistan, Balaji Motion Pictures Head of Distribution and Acquisition Girish Johar said, “Yes, it‘s a loss to all The Dirty Picture fans in Pakistan – especially fans of Vidya, Emraan and those who wanted to see the song ‘Ooh La La‘.”

The Dirty Picture is based on the life of Silk Smitha, the sultry south siren of the 80‘s. The film has Vidya Balan essaying the role of the actress for which she has been receiving rave reviews.

  • Desi Boyz gets ‘A’, The Dirty Picture ‘U’

Desi Boyz gets ‘A’, The Dirty Picture ‘U’

MUMBAI: Contrary to the expectations of the producers of Desi Boyz and The Dirty Picture, the Censor Board has done just the opposite.

While the Akshay Kumar, John Abraham- strarrer film has been given an ‘A‘ certificate, the latter has been passed without cuts and given a ‘U‘ certificate.

It is understood that the producers of Desi Boyz were expecting a U/A certificate but with the lead players playing male strippers, the Board‘s decision to grant the film an ‘A‘ certificate has belied their hope.

On the other hand the makers of The Dirty Picture were a bit nervous about the censorship and were expecting an adult certificate with a splash of Vidya Balan‘s liberal dose of skin-show. However the Censor Board did not see any problem and the film was passed without any cuts.

Desi Boyz is set to release on 25 November, while The Dirty Picture will hit the cinema screens on 2 December.

  • Release of Cutting Chai defered

    Release of Cutting Chai defered

MUMBAI: The release of Govardhan Reddy Maane and Vijay Varma Pakalapatti‘s Cutting Chai made under the banner of Salt N Pepper Entertainment has been deferred to 25 November.

The film, directed by Flavin Luicien, has become the latest victim of Censor Board (CB) for its bold dialogues and scenes. Without issuing a certificate, the CB directly send the film to revising committee.

The committee pointing that around six dialogues and two scenes were too sexy and explicit in nature passed film with ‘A‘ certificate with eight cuts.

Considering the CB‘s step as biased and non-judicial, producer Pakalapatti said, “Those scenes were very important for the film. But what we do? The film has delved into the psyche of the youth who may survive on cutting tea but ready to conquer the world. It is a story of four friends.

I used dialogues used by the youth today. Many big films uses such dialogues which the Censors don‘t object to, but small producers like us face such problems. I have requested the Government to do something for small producers,” the producer fumes.

The film was earlier supposed to release on 18 November.

  • Makers of Jo Dooba So Paar…to appeal against Censor decision

Makers of Jo Dooba So Paar…to appeal against Censor decision

MUMBAI: The makers of Jo Dooba So Paar – It‘s Love In Bihar are peeved with the Censor Board.

The Board has not only made the makers to alter the theatrical trailer of the film, it has also given a ‘U/A‘ certificate to the film.

Director Praveen Kumar says that by all this, the Board has been unfair. “If we agreed to make the recommended changes, then why did they give us a U /A certificate,” he asks.

It is learnt that the board primarily had a problem with the two words, `maa‘ and `ghanta‘ from the dialogues ‘aise ande to tumhare maa ne diye honge‘ and ‘Sharmaji knows ghanta‘. Hence they recommended the cut of the two words from the theatrical promo.

The filmmaker‘s problem didn‘t end there as the Board also had an issue over a line on the posters that reads ‘Bihari in love… is se khatarnaak baat to ho hi nahi sakti‘.

Not wanting to be let down, Kumar has planned to appeal again as the line is very important for bringing out the essence of the film.

The film, starring Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Anand Tiwari, Sadis Siddque, Pitobash and Sita Spada, is scheduled to release on 14 October.

Railways pose new hurdle to Mausam

MUMBAI: Looks like the path to the release of Pankaj Kapoor’s Mausam has been laid by hurdles.

After crossing the Censor Board hurdle and the IAF one, the film has now been hit by another obstacle. The Railway ministry has objected to a scene where Shahid Kapoor is shown in a car speeding across a level crossing in front of an approaching train.

Stunts in and around trains is a common phenomena in our films these days. Aamir Khan did it in Ghulam, Rajinikanth in Robot and recently Salman Khan in Bodyguard.

The makers of the film are yet to respond to the new issue.

Middle East countries ban Anurag Kashyap film

MUMBAI: Citing that the film is vulgar in nature, the Dubai government, along with other countries in the Middle East, has banned Anurag Kashyap‘s That Girl In Yellow Boots (TGIYB) from exhibition.

Confirming the same Kashyap said, “When TGIYB was doing the round of festivals last year, we were not allowed to screen it for the festival panel at Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) because of the subject matter.”

The film revolves around a young girl Ruth who comes to the city in search of her father, but is soon faced with moralistic questions when she takes up a job as a masseuse to make ends meet.

“TGIYB is for a mature audience. I don‘t know who in the middle-east decides whether the viewers are mature enough to watch the film or not, but I guess it‘s a moralistic stand,” adds Kashyap.

Interestingly, the Censor Board of Film Certification gave an ‘A‘ certificate to the film and passed it without any hassle.

The film releases worldwide on 2 September.
