  • IEC in Sports to distribute Carlsberg Cup

    MUMBAI: The TV rights for the Asian football tourney Carlsberg Cup will again be distributed by IEC in Sports.
    Croatia, South Korea and Denmark will visit Hong Kong and play in a tournament which marks the sporting centre piece of Chinese New Year for over 1.3 billion Chinese.
    The event is Asia’s longest running national team invitational football tournament and takes place in the 40,000 seater Hong Kong National Stadium.
    The draw sees Croatia play South Korea and Hong Kong vs. Denmark on 29 January. The winners and losers play-off in two further matches on 1 February to determine the four team rankings for the 2006 Carlsberg Cup.
    Kam Sports International is promoting the event. The company’s director Keith D’Arcy says, “With two Fifa World Cup 2006 qualified teams and Denmark with a long football heritage, we are looking at a highly competitive tournament, perhaps the most competitive in the events’ fifteen year history.”
    IEC in Sports CEO Jonas Persson says, “We expect significant interest from football fans around the globe, especially in watching Croatia and South Korea who reached the last four at World Cup ’98 and World Cup ‘2002 respectively”.
    Past champions of the Carlsberg Cup have included Honduras (2002) Uruguay (2003) Norway (2004) Brazil (2005). IEC in Sports have represented the Carlsberg Cup since 2002.

    IEC to distribute Portuguese Super League football

    MUMBAI: Sports marketing agency IEC in Sports has announced a two year deal regarding Portuguese football..

    IEC will distribute the 2004/5 and 2005/6 Portuguese Super League Soccer Championships to broadcasters in a number of key territories around the world.

    Under the terms of the agreement, IEC will distribute the League in most of Europe, Asia and into further selected territories. This is the first time IEC in Sports represent a complete football league from one of sport`s strongest nations.

    Thanks to a host broadcasting arrangement, international television stations will have the chance to choose from more than 130 live matches each season. In addition, IEC has teamed up with one of its longstanding production partners for the special ‘PortuGol’. The weekly highlights show will be available to broadcasters from each of the 34 weeks of the Championships.

    IEC in Sports CEO Jonas Persson added, “‘IEC is focusing more and more on football. For the first time, we are distributing a complete league from one of the best footballing countries in the world’, commented.

    “Over the past few years, we have increased our presence in international football with a series of summer tours, the popular Carlsberg Cup in Hong Kong and a number of World Cup qualifiers in Asia”, .

    IEC is hoping that the performance of Portugal in Euro 2004 and the showing of FC Porto, who dominated European football last year by capturing the Uefa Champions League will see greater interest from broadcasters in the Super League event.
     

  • IEC in Sports to distribute Carlsberg Cup TV rights

    MUMBAI: IEC in Sports will distribute the international television rights for the 2004 Carlsberg Cup. This is Asia’s longest running annual football tournament involving national teams.
    Euro ’04 qualified Sweden will play Norway in their first match whilst rising stars Honduras, coached by Bora Milutinovic will play Hong Kong’s League XI. The Carlsberg Cup is now in its 15th year. All three visiting teams have been past winners. Sweden won in 199, Norway in 2001 and Honduras last year.
    The tournament takes place from 22-25 January 2004.
