    ICC partners Hotstar for exclusive digital clips in India till 2019

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Star India’s Novi Digital Entertainment as the exclusive digital clips licensee in India for all ICC events from 2016-2019.

     

    Novi owns the online video streaming platforms Hotstar and Starsports.com, which in addition to exclusively live streaming ICC events, will also exploit the digital clips as a result of this arrangement.

     

    The four-year deal includes eight ICC Events namely the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016, ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, ICC Champions Trophy 2017, ICC Women’s World Cup England 2017, ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier Bangladesh 2018, ICC U19 Cricket World Cup New Zealand 2018, ICC Women’s World Twenty20 West Indies 2018 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

     

    ICC general manager – commercial Campbell Jamieson said, “The ICC is delighted to be entering into a four-year relationship with Novi, whose online video streaming platform, Hotstar, is extremely popular and has a proven record in entertainment and sports coverage in India.”

     

    Novi is also the current media rights holder for ICC events from 2016 to 2023.

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a new partnership with Matua Wines, which will be the ‘Official Wine in New Zealand’ for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2015. 

     

    As part of the deal with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Matua products will be supplied at all the venues in New Zealand. 

    Speaking on the new partnership, ICC general manager – commercial said that the ICC was delighted to welcome the wine brand as the official wine partner in New Zealand.

     

    “Matua is a renowned brand that has a strong presence both in New Zealand and across the region and we know that supporters will enjoy the offering across New Zealand venues at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015,” he added.

    On the new partnership, Matua chief winemaker Nikolai St George commented, “For New Zealand to co-host one of the world’s most watched sporting events is truly exciting, and for Matua to be a part of it offers an unprecedented opportunity to get some of New Zealand’s most awarded wines in front of a local and global audience.” 

    He further went on to add that the game was New Zealand’s summer sport and Kiwis absolutely loved the game and so did the team at Matua. “We’re looking forward to being a part of the biggest event happening in New Zealand this year, and we’re sure that that fans who head to the games will enjoy the action paired with our great wines.” he concluded.

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is inviting alcohol companies to submit proposals to become the official spirits partner of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Australia and New Zealand.

     

    The successful applicant will receive marketing rights and benefits that will enable it to use valuable ICC intellectual property in association with its spirits brands. In addition to having the right to sell products through retail channels using the exclusive ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 event logo, the successful applicant will also supply product at all 14 venues of the event.

     

    ICC GM commercial Campbell Jamieson said in a statement: “Responsible consumption of alcoholic spirits while watching sport has long been a part of the culture of Australia and New Zealand. The opportunity to become the official spirits partner of ICC is a valuable marketing and business opportunity for any spirits brand.”

     

    The ICC is seeking companies with a proven track record in running national sponsorship marketing programs and supplying product at major sporting events, as well as sufficient human and financial resources to leverage the promotional opportunity.

     

     “Proposals should clearly set out how the company will leverage the marketing rights granted to them to maximise association with ICC and enhance the status of this prestigious global sporting event,” Jamieson added.

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the update and re-release of its official ICC Cricket App, in partnership with Reliance Communications.

    The smart phone app, which will enable cricket fans from across the globe to follow all the action at the ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales, is free to download.

    Among the features expected to be the most popular are the video match highlights, including opt in alerts for wickets and personal milestones, along with live audio commentary. There will also be free behind the scenes exclusive videos from the event, player interviews and footage from every post-match press conference.

    Cricket fans will also be able to use the app to vote in live polls during matches and throughout the duration of the tournament, the questions and results of these polls will be broadcast live on the global television broadcast.

    The official ICC Cricket App also includes exclusive access to the innovative Hawkeye technology for all ICC Champions Trophy 2013 matches, allowing fans to analyse many aspects of the players and team performances.

    The user will also have access to the live match centre on game day, which includes ball by ball text commentary and all statistical tournament information.ICC GM “ commercial Campbell Jamieson said, “We believe that the official ICC Cricket App will provide yet another invaluable platform to engage our fans at the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.”

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the official event site for ICC Champions Trophy, which will be staged in England and Wales between 6 and 23 June 2013.

    Containing all the latest information on the tournament, the site, accessible from www.icc-cricket.com on any device, will be an essential resource for supporters wishing to follow the event.

    The site will have short form match highlights from all matches in the tournament as well as exclusive behind the scenes content with all the teams and leading players, as well as special pieces around the event.

    The official match centre will be one of the most informative and interactive to date, allowing fans to follow live ball-by-ball coverage, including an exclusive interactive video scorecard, of all warm-up and event matches. Fans will also get a chance to use the integrated Reliance Rankings predictor along with an opportunity to post comments using their social media accounts.     ICC to deliver official fantasy cricket game for upcoming ICC Champions Trophy

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the launch of an official Fantasy League game for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

    The ICC Champions Trophy 2013 is being played across England and Wales from 6 – 23 June.

    The game will give fans from around the globe the opportunity to pick their own ‘dream’ team from the eight Champions Trophy squads and pit their wits against fellow entrants, known as managers.

    Selection begins with the balance of the side – you can choose to either favour more batsmen, more all-rounders or more bowlers – the would-be-manager then has to select their playing XI and allocate a captain who scores double points.

    Teams can contain up to three players from one international side for the group stages (extending to six for the semi-finals and final), and furthermore only three from inside the top ten of the Reliance ICC ODI Rankings in batting, bowling or all-rounder position.

    Team changes are unlimited until the start of the tournament and a manager can make up to 10 team changes during the Group Stages, reacting to injuries, form and fixture schedules.

    Changes are also unlimited between the end of the Group Stages and the first semi-final and up to two further changes can then be made between the second semi-final and the final.

    Captain changes are unlimited and can therefore be changed prior to every single match.

     MUMBAI: Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) which is an International Cricket Council (ICC) partner is conducting a trophy tour for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 which takes place next month in England. The Trophy Tour commenced from New Delhi and will be followed by Mumbai and Chennai.

    The Trophy Tour in New Delhi runs till tomorrow 22 May. Then it goes to Mumbai from 23- 24 May and Chennai on 25 May. As a part of the trophy tour Hyundai will begin various engagement activities for the cricket fans.

    Fans can come to the malls and SMS – BBH to 5262. Five couples from these cities will win an exclusive Champions Dinner with the Champions Trophy. With this activity Hyundai aims to bring the game closer to the cricket fans.

Winning Hyundai Cricjockeys will get an opportunity to see the actual ESPN Cricinfo Studios in Bengaluru, where they would learn the entire cricket reporting procedures and also get to do Live Google+ Hangouts with the editorial team of ESPN Cricinfo during the champion trophy matches.

    The grand winner will get an opportunity to write a cricket blog on the main ESPN cricinfo site. Apart from these Cricjokeys would also get prizes like smart phones, tablet and music players.

    ICC engages CII for WC commercial rights protection

    MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has engaged Copyright Integrity International (CII) to work closely with its existing in-house legal team on the management of a rights protection programme for next year‘s World Cup, which gets underway on 19 February.

    Based in Bengaluru, CII is a specialist in online and offline anti-piracy protection services for sports clients. It will provide the ICC with a suite of commercial rights-protection and anti-piracy services and solutions such as online content and broadcast protection, comprehensive trademark and brand protection and media terms enforcement, in a programme designed to protect the ICC’s intellectual property rights from the threats of piracy, ambush marketing and unlicenced use.

    ICC GM commercial Campbell Jamieson said, “Our commercial partners and sponsors make our events possible and generate significant funding for the global game. The aim of the ICC’s commercial rights protection programme is to maintain the exclusivity of their association with our events. It is vital that those rights are protected so that our partners’ investments can be channelled into the development of cricket throughout our 105 Members.”

    CII CEO Dr Clinton Free added: “It’s a privilege to be engaged by a client such as the ICC to manage the commercial rights-protection programme for such a globally significant event as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Our extensive services and experienced team will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the event is an unqualified success. Our role will include not only the monitoring and enforcement of infringements but also an education programme for the public that will ensure wholesome enjoyment of the event with due respect to the ICC’s commercial partners and sponsors.”

    The ICC’s legal team has been working hard over the past few months to develop strategies to combat unlawful association with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, particularly within the three host territories of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

    As part of that programme, it has recently released brand and content protection guidelines for the tournament. Through a series of FAQs and illustrations, this document provides other companies and members of the public with a guide to how they might associate with the event without infringing the rights that have been granted to the ICC’s official partners.
