Mumbai: The edtech learning platform, Unacademy has launched its new campaign celebrating motherhood titled ‘Meri Pehli Academy’. The film commemorates the role of every mother as the first teacher, educator in every child’s life.
Conceptualised by Ogilvy, the film showcases the story of a young student – Bulbul, who is moving to a new city to live alone. It highlights how her mother has come along to help her set up the place, guiding her to do things on her own, testing and mentoring her to live her life independently. The heartfelt appreciation soon turns into a deeper realisation, as Bulbul begins to see her mother as her first academy.
The film outlines several instances which reinforce the subconscious learnings from the mother. When the mother asks Bulbul to make ‘chai’ – Bulbul learns the whereabouts of items in the kitchen and it is a metaphor for learning how to fend for yourself. When Bulbul starts unpacking her room, her mother hands her the box opener, highlighting how she is equipping Bulbul to start the new journey.
Speaking on the launch of the film, Unacademy’s partner & chief marketing officer, Karan Shroff said, “Throughout our formative years, our mother figures teach us several valuable life lessons. For most of us, we do not realise during our entire lifetime, the pivotal role they play in our lives, which is that of our first educator, our first Academy.
“This year, we are commemorating the learnings we all got from our #MeriPehliAcademy with the hope that the message resonates with all our learners. It also conveys Unacademy’s promise of being a lifelong ally to learners at every step of their journey along with their mother,” he added.
Ogilvy’s chief creative officer Puneet Kapoor said, “A mother is our first teacher and our first school. From learning our first lessons from her, we also learn valuable life lessons. A mother is the foundation to a child’s being, her/his pillar of strength. The role that a mother plays in a child’s life, can’t be paralleled by any other human relationship. This was the genesis of the wonderful idea of the film:Maa- #MeriPehliAcademy.”

Moreover, given the increased interest by women professionals in coding and software programs, upGrad’s campaign is reinforcing the importance of women coders by representing female protagonists in the ad films. The film showcases women learners upskilling with upGrad’s tech courses to become ‘very very important’ team members who drive organisational growth and success at their jobs, upon course completion.
Commenting on the tech campaign, upGrad head of marketing Ankit Khirwal said, “we can no longer pretend that skilling is not important, especially in the field of technology, where human-machine interactions, Web 3.0, brand building in Metaverse are happening as we speak. Following this trend, we have witnessed an increase in interest from women coders for our tech offerings across blockchain, fsd, devops, cybersecurity, and more.”
“Therefore, to encourage them further to upskill and fast forward their careers, our digital campaign will undertake a micro-targeting approach, to showcase the right offering to the right viewer based on their interest and profile, to help them navigate their upskilling solutions,” he added.
Till date, upGrad learners have received an average career hike of 51 percent while getting placed with top companies like Uber, Flipkart, Meesho and Razorpay, after completing tech courses with the edtech major.
“When there’s fire in the office, who will you save? Yourself, your boss or the most important employee in the office? That’s the premise Gunjan cracked when thinking of this campaign. The chaos added to the drama, the twist added to the fun and thus, we found a creative way of highlighting the importance of tech courses in today’s world,” added the Womb creative head Suyash Khabya.
Mumbai: Tanishq has launched its latest campaign ‘The Interview’ ahead of Mother’s Day. Conceptualized by Tanishq and Talented, the two-minute slice of life film attempts to break stereotypes around maternity break and showcases an apt description of ‘Life’s Boot Camp’ through the eyes of a new mother.
Created in partnership with Superfly Films, it strives to strike a conversation with new mothers as it shines the light upon progressive womanhood by celebrating the inherent leader in every mother. A maternity break teaches a woman to lead by instinct, and trust her own decisions, even when she often feels overwhelmed by advice received by others. It is only in this special phase of life that a woman really masters the art of time management and constant prioritization while she juggles multiple roles and responsibilities both personally and professionally.
The film protagonist, Radhika, is a young mother and a promising candidate with charisma and a whole lot of rich experience. She is just back from her maternity break as she appears for a job interview. The interviewer is curiously surprised by the mention of ‘Life Boot Camp’ on her resume, even as she describes it beautifully just like any other job experience and the responsibilities that she might not even let go of. However, the interviewer’s decision was a little divided!
Speaking on the launch of the film, Titan’s General Manager-Marketing, Ranjani Krishnaswamy said, “The woman of today is seeking to express herself with honesty and authenticity to confidently celebrate her realities. She’s thriving in her vulnerability while rising in her power to change her world. The brand believes these powerful stories build positive momentum in cultivating a world of equality and adding to her self-growth. This film is an ode to women who challenge set narratives and inspire many others to follow the change.”
Titan’s Head-HR, Retail and Corporate said, “Work teams with better women representation bring high value to organizations. But this is not the only reason for Titan to embark on this journey. The purpose behind taking this step was that we thought it was innately the right thing to do. In the last three decades, we have built a foundation by increasing our gender representation across managerial levels, strengthening diversity enabling processes and building a culture of inclusivity. But we do not settle here. Titan is striving to continue improving women’s representation and create a culture where we make sure women receive all the required support from the organization in their journey as a mother with flexible and supportive policies”.
Speaking on the film, Talented’s Founding Member and Creative Binaifer Dulani said, “Studies reveal that it will take at least 136 years to close the global gender pay gap, and one of the biggest factors for this is the lack of representation of women in senior leadership. We need more workplaces to see beyond the dominant culture and create equity for women so that they can make their comeback. There is no parallel to the thought differentiation and unique life experiences mothers bring to the table, yet they are constantly on the back foot when they want to make a comeback after a maternity break. Through this campaign, we want to inspire organisations to take affirmative action towards retaining and hiring mothers, and we want to inspire mothers to claim their maternity breaks as what it is – a boot camp in life and leadership”.

Mumbai: Britannia Bourbon onboards a new gen-Z BFF gang with three of India’s U19 Cricket World Cup champions – captain Yash Dhull, opener Harnoor Singh, and all-rounder Raj Bawa for its new campaign called #BourbonFriendsForever.
The campaign is framed on the basic yet universal opinion that Britannia Bourbon is too good to be shared, even with the closest friends, and this is represented through the wickedly smooth tricks that the three champs pull on each other to steal a bite of their favourite chocolaty snack.
This snappy campaign also has a fun pre-campaign leg where the three rising stars are seen engaging in cheeky pranks with each other on Instagram. The pre-campaign buzz starts with Harnoor and Raj taking over Yash’s Instagram account and in true BFF style, releasing embarrassing videos of Yash stealing their Britannia Bourbon. Yash then takes back control of his account and gets his payback from his BFF mates by asking consumers to help him find Raj and Harnoor’s hidden Britannia Bourbon stashes. Finally, the three friends come together for fun banter and release the campaign on their Instagram accounts.
The campaign honours the cheeky relationships between real friends and Britannia Bourbon’s role in inciting fun amongst such friends, as a part of the brand’s Original Friendship concept. “Character defines destiny” – simple, yet powerful words underline the fact that destiny is not a predetermined outside force. Rather, an individual’s future is determined by his inner character. The crux and the core of Chivas exemplifies this. Character is at the heart of Chivas’ spirit. The Chivas campaign revolves around our protagonist, who not just mirrors these values, but elevates character by capturing its many nuances,” said Ogilvy, North, executive creative director and head of design Nitin Srivastava.
Mumbai: Olx Autos has partnered with Bollywood director Rohit Shetty and actor Sharman Joshi for its first celebrity-led ad campaign.
The latest campaign titled ‘Shetty Ke Car-Naame’ is conceptualised by Lowe Lintas Delhi seeks to drive awareness about Olx Autos’ ‘Best Price’ proposition for consumers keen to sell their pre-owned cars and consider Olx Autos as the leading destination for the same.
The digital-first multi-film campaign showcases Rohit Shetty as a consumer keen to sell the cars from his films to Sharman Joshi, who poses as an Olx Autos employee evaluating the cars for sale. The campaign films are a humorous take on the common tropes found across Rohit Shetty’s films, where cars are often shown in a glamorised fashion performing gravity-defying stunts and often forming the centerpiece of the films.
To leverage this campaign further, Olx Autos will also undertake a digital campaign across various social media platforms to reach more consumers.
Talking about the association, Rohit Shetty said, “I am delighted to collaborate with Sharman Joshi to partner with Olx Autos for this campaign which brings together my passion for films and cars. As a director, a mainstay of my films have been car stunts which audiences love and admire.”
“As an automobile enthusiast, I have always had a passion for automobiles, but often found it challenging when it came to selling off my cars while upgrading to a newer car. I hope audiences will enjoy this collaboration and resonate with the values of a fellow car enthusiast,” he added.
Sharman Joshi said, ”It’s good to be back collaborating again with Rohit on this campaign for Olx Autos. We share a common passion for automobiles and with Olx Autos it was a breeze translating the same onscreen for the short films.”
Commenting on the partnership, Olx Autos CMO Siddharth Agrawal said, “Rohit Shetty and cars are synonymous in the Indian pop culture and there is no one better than him to bring this campaign to life. Sharman Joshi’s everyman portrayal across his movies fit the mold of what we were looking for in highlighting a pertinent consumer challenge when it comes to selling pre-owned cars. We are excited to bring to life our campaign with these industry stalwarts as we aim to position ourselves as the preferred brand for consumers looking to sell their cars in their car ownership journey throughout their various life stages.”
Speaking about the creative thought behind the campaign, Lowe Lintas regional creative officer Vasudha Misra said, “It was an exciting campaign to work on from the start. When the team first pitched the idea to me- To bring Rohit Shetty, someone known for his action stunts with cars to promote Olx Autos – I was immediately sold. And like Olx Autos’ great price this has also turned out to be a great surprise.”
Mumbai: As cricket lovers from across India unite to cheer on their favorite teams, KFC’s new film hits it out of the park with ‘Cricket Hai, Let’s KFC’ campaign. The ad film celebrates the dhamakedaar pairing of KFC’s chicken with your match viewing experience, making it truly a special occasion with loved ones.
KFC’s new TVC shows the heartwarming interaction between two cricketing fans – a grandmother and grandson – who unite over the love of the game but could easily fight it out over a bucket of their fav KFC chicken.
Like any cricket fan, the grandson is seen predicting what’s going to happen next in this nail-biting match. While binging on this favorite KFC crispy chicken the grandson confidently predicts that the batsman will hit a sixer, and to both their dismay, the batsman gets bowled, sending Dadi in a tizzy.
As a peace offering, the grandson then offers to share his coveted KFC crispy chicken with her and offers her a piece. But dadi has plans of her own. As the match takes place on the cricket field, the two indulge in a match of their own, which will decide who will win the next crispy, juicy, piece from their favorite KFC bucket.
“Whatever be the occasion, KFC is the perfect partner to induce that extra ‘crispiness’ into the celebration. Cricket is one such occasion that unites fans across age or gender, as they give into the excitement of the game and cheer on,” said KFC India CMO Moksh Chopra. “Add a Bucket of KFC chicken to that and you have a match winner! Aptly demonstrated in this film with the quirky interplay between a grandmother & grandson; their banter over the match and fight over a piece of KFC chicken is as real as it gets.”
Ogilvy CCO Ritu Sharda added, “The campaign beautifully illustrates how KFC fits in deliciously with every occasion. In fact, every occasion is even more special when you have KFC around. The first in the series is ‘Cricket Hai. Let’s KFC.’ Like cricket is celebrated across India by entire families from grandparents to grandchildren, so is KFC. The film is a must-watch and KFC is a must-eat.”
Mumbai: Historically, ‘hair removal’ has been associated with the fairer sex’s aspirations to attain smoother, polished skin, and their willingness to undergo various forms of trials, tribulations and torture in the endeavour. So also, hair removal products and brands through the ages have targeted only women for the longest time. Well, that’s changing with the arrival of the metrosexual male who enjoys grooming, fashion, shopping and other lifestyle characteristics as much as, if not more than, his female counterpart. In fact, what was once considered ‘macho’ is now simply too ‘crude’ for this uber-cool and ultra-aware species, who couldn’t be caught dead with unshaved body hair in their armpits! But what would happen if one tried to juxtapose both these old and new worlds by getting a ‘traditional’ rough ‘n’ tough male known for his rudimentary masculine image to subject himself to this procedure?
Grooming brand Bombay Shaving Company (BSC) did just that, by having veteran actor Shakti Kapoor- known for his over-the-top villainous and comic roles in the Bollywood films of yore – try his hand at the brand’s back and body shaver, Backpro. The result was a ‘one for the ages’ reveal video, with candid, hilarious confessions to ‘hair-raising’ tales from the inimitable, irreverent-as-ever ‘Crime Master Gogo’ on his lifelong experiences with body hair!
Talking to IndianTelevision.com about the brand’s association with Shakti Kapoor for its latest campaign on Backpro – Back and Body Shavers, BSC COO Deepak Gupta said that the product with its unique offering in the hair removal category demanded “unconventional marketing.” Calling Kapoor an ‘icon of 90’s India,’ Gupta says, “There’s an authenticity to his personality and storytelling that’s endearing and cuts through the clutter. He also enjoys a very loyal following from a mature male audience. You’ll be surprised to know that he’s one of the most searched celebrities of his generation.”
Interestingly, Shakti Kapoor has had his own personal journey with body hair, which had quite organically become a part of conversations and imagery in popular culture, Gupta divulges. “So as a brand committed to bringing joy to the mundane act of hair removal, Shakti Kapoor turned out to be quite a spontaneous choice for the campaign.” he says, adding that the campaign has had a fabulous start, notching up over 2.5 lakh organic views in the first three days of launch, and generating considerable buzz on social media.
The brand film features Shakti Kapoor as himself and Atul Parchure as the actor’s long-suffering, patient manager. The core campaign and creative strategy were conceptualised in-house by BSC Marketing VP Laalit Lobo and his team. The brand film was directed by Adhiraj Sharma, while Mohak Pajni from the house of Leap of Faith Production was the creative producer behind it.
The brief was to “authentically capture Mr Kapoor’s personal journey with body hair and retain his inimitable comic style, in his natural elements and setting,” reveals Gupta. The process involved multiple rounds of discussions with the actor to know him as an individual, separated from the typical narrative. “He was consulted on the script, and gladly agreed to contribute with his inputs,” he shares.
Talking about the brand’s communication and marketing strategy behind the campaign, Gupta shares, “We don’t want to dilute the share ability of this campaign with too much paid media. We’re already seeing wonderful engagement on social media and that will continue.” The TG the brand hopes to target through this campaign is males over the age of 30 living in metros predominantly.
Gupta further adds, “More than selling product, the marketing strategy is to get men talking about their hair removal and grooming choices through clever content marketing and CRM strategies.”
The brand also plans to run this campaign in cinemas as cities begin to open up and introduce the brand to newer audiences with a special focus on Mumbai/Pune – a market where the brand has made inroads with its recent collaboration with Mumbai Indians, and which it is keen to build and nurture for the long term.
Watch the full video featuring Shakti Kapoor and Atul Parchure here:
The brand also shared the backstory of the video while posting it on its social media handle. “We had so much fun co-creating this video with him. Some of the parts of the video are true, some made up; We’ll let you solve that mystery. But what’s 100 per cent true is that there was never a dull moment during the three months that our team worked with him for this,” it wrote, adding a ‘fun fact’: “Shakti Sir took home the portrait of him that you see in the film after the shoot.”
Kapoor also shared the video on his Instagram handle and the response he received from his fans is remarkable, considering the actor does not technically belong to the “insta-generation,” showing that good content needs little else in the form of validation.
