    Calinos continues to conquer Brazil’s TV screens

    Mumbai: Calinos Entertainment has secured a new deal in Brazil with Globo’s Viva Channel for one of its most sold and well-known titles of its catalogue -The Girl named FERIHA.

    Produced by Medyapim, it follows the story of a girl, who comes from a poor background. Feriha is awarded a scholarship at an elite university, where she meets a wealthy playboy – Emir Sarrafoğlu (Cagatay Ulusoy). Feriha lies about her life due to the fear of being rejected. In time they fall in love but as their affection for one another grows, Feriha becomes even more trapped in her own lies.

    The Girl named Feriha’s first episode will be broadcasted on 12 August at 8:30pm local time.

    Geophil acquires multiple Turkish drama series for Indian market

    Mumbai: Geophil, the global co-production and distribution studio based in Dubai and headed up by MD Robin Philip, announce the acquisition of multiple Turkish drama series for distribution in India from major Turkish producers including Calinos Entertainment, Inter Medya, and MediaHub.

    Notable titles acquired include popular Turkish digital series Ilk Ve Son (English title: Deeply) from Calinos Entertainment (romantic drama focusing on the relationship of a young couple through their divorce a decade later), Aşk Laftan Anlamaz (English title: Love Doesn’t Understand Words) from Inter Medya (workplace romance between the owner’s son of a large fashion company and an employee) and Kirik Hayatlar (English title: Broken Lives) from MediaHub (romantic drama focusing on the sacrifices a couple make to stay together in spite of a mother willing to do anything for power). Additional titles acquired include Broken Destiny, Last Summer, and Aziz.

    Over the last year, Geophil has become a leading destination for premium Turkish content for Indian broadcasters. With their unique expertise in Turkish entertainment, Geophil has been able to source the most relevant and exciting content to audiences across the region, with more deals to be announced in the coming weeks.

    In addition to their distribution business, Geophil recently announced GlobalSphere Studios, a joint venture with Turkish media company MediaHub, focused on co-producing premium Turkish drama series. Alaca, the first series under the GlobalSphere brand, premiered to international buyers at MIPCOM 2023.

    Turkish distrib Calinos strikes deals for Forbidden Fruit

    Mumbai: Turkish dramas travel is something we all know. In India too they have managed to get many a viewer glued to them goggle-eyed, totally absorbed by the stories. The success of Istanbul-based distributor Calinos Entertainment shows how far Turkish series are leaving their impact.

    Calinos represents Medyapim’six season running series Forbidden Fruit. It has found buyers in more than 70 countries prior to the new year.

    “In 2023; we have sold approximately 130,000 hours of TV programming to more than 105 countries on five continents by distributing more than 200 programs,” says Calinos head of international sales Asli Serim.

    With just a month and a half gone in 2024, Calinos has managed to continue to pocket new deals. Forbidden Fruit was sold in Serbia, Georgia and Ukraine, even as it continues to be a top TV show in Chile, Puerto Rico, South Africa and the Philippines.

    Continuing to introduce Turkish dramas to a global audience, Calinos has also sold Woman and Second Chance to Serbia, Cherry Season to Slovakia, and the re-run of Ferihato Ukraine.

    “While Forbidden Fruit and Woman continue to conquer new countries in 2024, we are happy to see that new fandoms are created for each drama that exists in our phenomenal catalogue,” says Serim.

    Awarded by global viewers at different social platforms; “Farah” has already turned into a global phenomenon since its premiere in Turkey.

    The global fans of Turkish dramas were awarded “Farah” in three categories on “Dizilah Güzel Awards”; “The Best New Series”, “The Best Cast Ensemble” and “The Best Child Actor”. These awards basically reflect the success of the drama in terms of both story & cast.

    Besides its binding story, supporting women empowerment “Farah” has globally acclaimed strong lead acts; Demet Ozdemir “The International Best Actress Award Winner at the 21 Kineo Awards in Venice” and Engin Akyurek “The Best Actor Award Winner of 2015” in International Emmy Awards and Seoul Drama Awards.

    The global star of the catalogue “Indefensible” is lately awarded by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and TV as “The Best Daily Serie” at the 38 Prix Gémeaux Awards and has been shortlisted for the “Content Innovation Awards in the Best New Scripted Series – Non-English” category. It’s a long-lasting successful Crime Drama and approved for the third season by TVA Canada.

    In addition to “Indefensible” another awarded Pixcom drama “Alertes – Alert Squad” will be included to the phenomenal catalogue. The 3 season-long crime series has won “The Best Annual Drama” award with its last season at the 38 Prix Gémeaux Awards.
