    New Delhi: Republic Media Network on Monday appointed Kishan Cheranda to take charge of the distribution and International Business for the Network.

    Cheranda’s previous role was with Turner International (Warner Media) as head of Distribution. In a career spanning over 26 years, he has assimilated a deep understanding and on-the-ground experience of Networks in both digital & broadcast distribution, and monetisation space, said the company. He has worked with leading broadcasters – Warner Media, Ten Sports, Zee, Viacom & MEN.

  • TCM Sports Management appoints Sudip Roy as EVP – New Business

    New Delhi: TCM Sports Management, a full service sports marketing and management company has appointed Sudip Roy as executive vice president – New Business.

  • Senior journalist Udayan Mukherjee joins India Today

    New Delhi: The India Today Group is set to bolster its coverage of business news with a new show hosted by noted journalist Udayan Mukherjee. Mukherjee returns to the newsroom after a long hiatus. His comeback comes at a time when the world explores new ways of doing business in the post-pandemic economic order, said the company on Monday.

    Mukherjee was honoured with the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for Journalist of the Year in 2012, following which he stepped down from his active daily role at the helm of the channel. Since then, he remained a much-followed commentator on business affairs and a columnist for national newspapers. He even authored three works of fiction.

  • dentsu India appoints Arti Singh to head Hyperspace

    New Delhi: dentsu India on Tuesday appointed Arti Singh as VP National for its shoppers’ marketing unit, Hyperspace. In her new role, Singh will be in charge of the shoppers’ marketing division that includes experiential, retail, cinema and mall business.

    A seasoned professional with more than 18 years of expertise in the field, Singh will drive and develop strategies for brands. “With her tremendous experience in the industry and understanding of consumer behaviour, she will help in building relationships with key industry players, teams and associates. Additionally, she will play a significant role in designing the offline path of the purchase journey for consumers, thus, connecting them with brands,” said the agency.

    This is Singh’s second innings with dentsu India. Previously, she had been with the network for more than a decade and played a vital role in successfully delivering marketing experiential retail campaigns for brands.

    Speaking on her new role, Singh said, “It’s a great role, with enormous possibilities in my second innings. Hyperspace is a network that has established strong credentials in space for over a decade now.   • Deepak Patkar joins Fullerton India as chief risk officer

    New Delhi: Fullerton India Credit Company Limited (Fullerton India) on Monday announced the appointment of Deepak Patkar as its chief risk officer. Patkar will now head the risk, collections, information security, legal, and analytics function of the company.

    He rejoins the Fullerton India family after a span of three years. Prior to this, Patkar worked at Magma Fincorp Limited as EVP and chief risk officer and went on to lead their asset financing business as chief executive officer.

    He has over 25 years of experience across various disciplines such as business and risk management, audit, sales, and quality assurance across multiple industries. He has worked with leading companies such as Citibank, HCL Infosystems, and Cable Corporation of India, said the company.

She will be responsible for media planning, relationship management, and supervising the complete and integrated offering for the client. Her key focus will be on strategy, digital transformation, data, analytics, implementation, and buying.

    A postgraduate from NMIMS, Kapur has over 18 years of rich experience in media and marketing. Her last assignment was with Lodestar UM for almost ten years as connections lead for its key client Coca-Cola. Her role involved spearheading the strategic planning product across portfolio brands and crafting solutions, connecting brands to consumers. She was also responsible for research and insights and remained updated on the latest consumer trends to build them seamlessly into solutions for brands.

    Kapur has also worked as a marketer with NDTV, led new business development at Balaji Telefilms, and as a media planner on some prestigious accounts like Tata Motors and Zodiac.

    CNN International boosts its business coverage with new programming

    New Delhi: As the world looks to the future and new ways of doing business, new channel CNN is launching cross-platform programming to cover the macro trends impacting Asia, Europe, and the Middle East and profile the regions’ key industries and corporations.

    Starting this coming weekend, CNN Marketplace Asia and CNN Marketplace Europe will begin airing on CNN International. These monthly shows, and dedicated new sections on CNN Business will focus on the recovery following the pandemic, analysing the new economy and ways of working driven by innovation. It will include in-depth interviews, reporting, and analysis about the very latest sector and regional trends in technology, sustainability, automotive and mobility, health and medicine, energy, and e-commerce.

    The first show will look at some of the biggest e-commerce players in the region as they discuss the possibilities of digital transformations and the acceleration of e-commerce adoption globally.

    Sonali Malaviya appointed as managing director Essence India

    MUMBAI: Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency which is part of GroupM on Thursday announced the appointment of Sonali Malaviya as the agency’s managing director for India.

    Malviya will be responsible for leading continued client-centric innovation in data, analytics and technology, as well as business growth and company culture for the agency in the market. Based out of Delhi, she will report to Essence APAC CEO, T. Gangadhar and GroupM South Asia CEO, Prasanth Kumar. She will join Essence’s APAC leadership team and GroupM India’s executive committee as part of her role. Meanwhile, Anand Chakravarthy, previously managing director for Essence India, has moved on from the agency to pursue new opportunities.

    Joining Essence in 2018, Malaviya most recently led the agency’s Google business in India and Southeast Asia as senior vice president, client services. Previously, she served as chief operating officer at Colorbar Cosmetics and country marketing lead at Twitter in India. With over 20 years of industry experience, she has also held senior roles at Mindshare, PHD, Roy Morgan Research and MediaCom in India, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.

    Tejinder Gill moves on from Truecaller, joins The Trade Desk

    MUMBAI: Tejinder Gill has moved on from Truecaller where he was the vice-president of global sales (South Asia, MENA, and Sub Saharan Africa). Gill has now joined US based tech firm The Trade Desk as the general manager for India.

    He had announced his departure from Truecaller at the end of last year, after a nearly five years’ association with the company.

    In his new role, Gill will be responsible for crafting innovative approaches to accelerate outcomes based on emerging business models and strengthening global client and partner relationships.

    “I’m happy to share that I have started the next leg of my career journey with The Trade Desk. My focus here will be to drive our vision of reshaping digital advertising in the India geo. I’m excited to work with a great team that will use its expertise to transform media to benefit businesses and build advanced opportunities in the Open Internet for India’s modern marketers to navigate this next era of change,” Gill announced the move on LinkedIn on Tuesday.

    Gill joined Truecaller in 2016 and spent four and a half years at the caller identification app before his move to The Trade Desk. In a career spanning over 17 years, he has worked at places like LinkedIn, Yahoo, Times of India, Network18, and SAS International Export.

    Dinesh Nair appointed Director of Consumer Business for Lenovo India

    Mumbai: Chinese technology major Lenovo has appointed Dinesh Nair as the director of consumer business for the India region.

    Nair succeeds Shailendra Katyal, who was recently elevated as site leader for Lenovo India and managing director of Lenovo’s PC and Smart Device business in India.

    Nair has been associated with Lenovo India’s consumer business for over 11 years in various roles. Most recently, he was the sales and channel management lead for the company’s consumer segment in India.

    He has handled leadership responsibilities across offline general trade retail, distribution management, field sales, e-commerce, large format retail, and category management.

    “I am proud to hand over the reins of the consumer business to Dinesh. At the same time, this is a demonstration of our commitment to developing talent internally. I am sure he, along with the consumer leadership team, will propel the business to new heights,” said Lenovo India managing director Shailendra Katyal.
