    Adani Group bats in UAE’s T20 League

    Mumbai: Adani Sportsline, a part of the diversified Adani Group, has made a landmark foray into franchise cricket by acquiring the rights to own and operate a franchise in UAE’s flagship T20 league.

    Licensed by Emirates Cricket Board, the UAE T20 League is an annual event that will feature six franchise teams competing in a 34-match event. Top players from all the cricket playing countries are expected to be in the line-up of different teams. The league will be providing a platform and exposure to upcoming young cricketers. This will be the first major move overseas by the Adani Sportsline that will connect and engage with global fans from across the cricketing nations.

    “It is a proud moment for us to announce the Adani Group’s association with the UAE’s T20 League as a franchise team owner. This acquisition fits perfectly in the group of corporates who have already acquired franchise team rights in the league,” said UAE’s T20 League chairman Khalid Al Zarooni. “The trust shown by the Adani Group augurs well for the League and we look forward to benefitting from their business acumen and working together to make our league successful.”

    Adani Sportsline is promoted by the Adani Group whose diverse businesses include port management, electric power generation and transmission, renewable energy, mining, airport operations, natural gas, food processing and infrastructure. The group has annual revenues of over $20 billion with operations at 70 locations in 50 countries and a market cap of over $222 billion.

    Indian superstar Diljit Dosanjh signs deal with Warner Music

    Mumbai: Diljit Dosanjh, widely known as the ‘Super Singh of Punjab,’ has announced a partnership with Warner Music, the first time he’s signed a deal with a major record company.  Dosanjh is one of India’s leading stars and has found fame as an actor, singer, songwriter, and television presenter. 

    Dosanjh will be working with Warner Music to amplify his global music career. He has forthcoming singles with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez and the Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, who announced his own partnership with Warner Music last year.

    He has starred in some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful Bollywood and Punjabi films of all time – appearing in the likes of “Honsla Rakh,” “Jatt & Juliet,” “Jatt & Juliet 2,” “Punjab 1984,” “Sardaar Ji,” “Super Singh,” “Sajjan Singh Rangroot,” “Shadaa” and “Udta Punjab.”

    Dosanjh also enjoys a parallel stellar music career. He has recorded 13 studio albums and established himself as one of Punjabi music’s biggest stars.  His 2020 album “GOAT” was featured on Billboard’sGlobal Chart and went Top 20 in Canada. His latest track “Lover” has already generated more than 68 million views on YouTube.

    The partnership is the latest landmark move from Warner Music India, which launched just two years ago in March 2020.  The company swiftly signed a licensing deal with Tips Music, which owns the rights to some of the most popular Bollywood films ever produced; founded the Maati label, dedicated to the fast-growing Indian folk music genre; signed several distribution deals focused on labels from India’s different cultural and linguistic traditions.  In the Punjabi music scene, Warner Music has signed partnerships with Ziiki Media and Sky Digital.  

    Warner Music India is growing its domestic roster of superstar and developing artists, hitting the headlines last month when it signed a partnership with Armaan Malik, setting up the Always Music Global label dedicated to homegrown talent, and arranging to release his non-film music.  The company has also had success with Warner Music’s international roster in India, helping the likes of Alec Benjamin, CKay, Dua Lipa and Masked Wolf storm the charts.

    Mumbai: UK-China media group The Media Pioneers (TMP) has signed a number of deals for the preschool educational series “Jili & Gulu.”

    Having successfully aired in mainland China on multiple platforms including Tencent and Youku, the first season of “Jili & Gulu” has also been sold to VIUTVsix (Hong Kong), Start (Russia and CIS) and the largest non-for-profit Spanish language broadcaster in the US, HITN, to air on their Edye platform for preschool children, where it will premier across the United States and Latin America later in the year.

    “We are very excited to bring this lovely series to the global market. I think the great storytelling and picture-book style design will both educate and entertain kids everywhere,” commented TMP managing director and executive producer Maggie Liang.

    Mumbai: NDTV Convergence has signed an exclusive 10-year deal with Taboola, a global leader in powering recommendations for the open web, helping people discover content they may like.

    The decade-long deal is based on mutually-determined projections, including growth in traffic, and cumulatively can enable revenue of Rs 750 crore for NDTV Convergence contingent upon it meeting the targets assigned for different stages of the 10-year period, said the statement.

    This deal gives NDTV Convergence access to Taboola’s full portfolio of offerings for personalised content recommendations, editorial planning, monetisation, and growth strategies. In addition, NDTV will leverage Taboola Newsroom, an advanced readership insights technology that leverages AI to power editorial processes, it added.

    In 2018, NDTV Convergence signed a five-year deal with Taboola, which was at the time among the biggest-ever advertising deals for the Asia-Pacific region. “Taboola has been a significant cornerstone of our business. We prize our seven-year-long association with them because they consistently demonstrate their support for independent journalism,” stated NDTV Group president Suparna Singh. “Taboola’s tools including those that we use in our newsroom make the best use of AI and new technology to ensure our content is flanked by terrific options for our readers to discover and learn more.”

    NDTV Convergence will be testing an e-commerce integration that provides a new revenue stream via Skimlinks, a Taboola company. With Skimlinks, NDTV Convergence can complement its premier content with e-commerce, said the statement.

    WORK Microwave inks multimillion-dollar deal with Eutelsat

    Mumbai: Germany-based WORK Microwave, a manufacturer of advanced satellite communications equipment, announced that it has signed a new multimillion-dollar agreement with Eutelsat, a satellite operator.

    Eutelsat is using WORK Microwave’s Ka- and Q-/V-band converters on its ground segment equipment during the next phase of its connectivity strategy, offering ultra-high data throughput via its KONNECT VHTS satellite, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

    With 230 spot beams and an overall capacity of about 500 Gbps, KONNECT VHTS will provide two-way broadband connectivity across Europe and beyond. KONNECT VHTS will enable Eutelsat to provide fiber-like connectivity to end-users at fiber-like pricing, it added.

    “Data consumption is skyrocketing around the world, and the goal of our KONNECT VHTS satellite is to enable easy, affordable, and fast internet delivery,” said Eutelsat’s broadband system and connectivity manager Guillaume Benoît. “Following the selection of WORK Microwave’s solution on Eutelsat KONNECT infrastructure for our broadband services in Europe and in Africa, we are pleased to confirm its use for our KONNECT VHTS ground infrastructure. With WORK Microwave’s well-engineered converter solutions, we can improve the reliability and performance of our ground infrastructure.”
