    Viacom18 unveils its new sports channel ‘Sports18’

    Mumbai: Viacom18 on Friday announced the launch of Sports18, the network’s dedicated sports broadcasting channel. The pay-TV channel, available in SD and HD, will offer fans the ‘best-in-class’ sports content in India, the network said.

    “Sports18 will be the new home to the world’s most premium sports properties, including the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022, NBA, LaLiga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Abu Dhabi T10, and top ATP & BWF events. Apart from premier picks from the world of football, basketball, tennis, cricket and badminton, the channel will provide fans access to top programming covering international sports news, magazine and highlights shows,” said the media company in a statement.

    “We are pleased to launch a dedicated sports channel for an audience across demographics and geographies,” stated Viacom18 Sports CEO Anil Jayaraj. “Sports18 will strive to be India’s most-coveted broadcast network by providing fans easy access to a comprehensive bouquet of international and premier sports content.”

    As the LaLiga, Ligue1, Serie A, and the NBA come to the business end of their seasons, fans will be able to experience all the events on Sports18. “Viewers can continue to watch their preferred sports by downloading Viacom18’s premium video-on-demand platform Voot (iOS & Android) and JioTV (iOS & Android),” the statement added.

    Effective 6 p.m on 15 April, the channel will be available on leading DTH service providers across the country.

    Samsung India announces top level organisational rejig

    Mumbai: Samsung on Wednesday announced key organisational changes in India to generate more synergies amongst its various businesses as the company further expands its footprint in the country.

    Three new teams are being created to improve operational synergies and consumer experiences. In that direction, the company has appointed CH Choi as the new division leader for the consumer electronics business, while Jinsock Lee will be the division leader for the network business and will be based in Mumbai. Jongbum Park will continue to be the division leader for the mobile business.

    Mohandeep Singh will be new head – sales, marketing and operations for the consumer electronics business, while Raju Pullan will be the new head – sales and retail for the mobile business. Aditya Babbar will lead product marketing for the mobile business.

    The managing director of Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore Dipesh Shah will also head a newly created India Customer Experience (ICX) and business strategy team to create multiple device experience for Indian consumers.

    The new direct-to-customer team will be headed by Sumit Walia. Walia will also lead the corporate marketing team. A new enterprise business team will be headed by Akash Saxenaa.

    Asim Warsi will be pursuing a different professional path and in that, he will continue to be engaged with Samsung India, said the company.

    ICBC announces partnership with Vibrant Gujarat 2022

    Mumbai: The Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC), the premiere organisation in India dedicated to promoting Indo-Canadian economic and bilateral relations, on Thursday announced a partnership with the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022, set to be held from 10-12 January 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. 

    This announcement of ICBC with the marquee event now in its 10th edition is indicative of growing closer ties between the two countries.

    The central theme of the summit this year – ‘From Aatmanirbhar Gujarat to Aatmanirbhar Bharat,’ presents a unique opportunity to address shared contemporary challenges as well as points of confluence, while charting a path forward for global sustainable development. It will also present a strong platform for augmenting international cooperation and partnerships, said the statement. “Gujarat offers great opportunities for collaboration in key economic industries such as agro & food processing, renewable energy, EV automotive and pharmaceuticals, all areas under the active focus of ICBC,” it added.

    “As the partner organisation at the 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat, ICBC will be taking a business delegation to engage in conversations leading to fruitful collaborations between the State of Gujarat and Canada,” stated ICBC CEO Nadira Hamid. “It will be our endeavor to facilitate meaningful meetings to further the economic growth in the state, and strengthen ties between Gujarat and Canada.”

    With the intention of raising the level of engagement and joint partnerships, the chamber will be holding a business session on 11 January 2022, on the sidelines of the summit. Leading Canadian companies across industries, as well as key stakeholders from the government of Gujarat, are expected to be a part of this initiative, with an intention to boost trade between the two regions.

    MUMBAI : Vector Brand Solutions on Tuesday announced its operating leadership and appointed Tushar Bhatia, Ripanka Kalita and Mandar Gore to lead business, creative and strategy respectively.

    Earlier in November, Tilt Brand Solutions founder, chairman and MD Joseph (Joe) George had announced the launch of Vector – the group’s next brand & communications enterprise. “With the operating leadership of Vector now in place, I am certain that the vision and ambition for Vector, will be brought to fruition very soon,” stated George while speaking on Vector’s operating leadership team announcement. “With their pedigreed experience in delivering through- the-funnel results for clients, Vector will hopefully soon be the answer for all digital-first marketers.     Tushar Bhatia has joined Vector as a senior director – business, after his stint at Maple where he was the chief marketing officer leading the function. He has over 19 years of experience across advertising and marketing stints, across continents too. His prior experience includes leadership positions at Ogilvy Africa where he was the SPOC for Airtel Africa (19 countries), Barclays Bank, Coca Cola, Nestle, Barclays Bank and many more in Sub Saharan Africa. At Y&R Menacom, he was the lead for Nawras Telecommunications (QTEL) Bank Muscat and Khimji Lifestyle in Muscat Oman.

    Over the years, Bhatia has also worked at Lowe Lintas and FCB Ulka where he partnered his clients on work for brands like Axis Bank, Canara Robeco MF, Indian Oil Corporation, Reliance Retail, ICICI Bank, Bisleri, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Ultratech Cements, and many more.

    Ripanka Kalita has joined Vector director – creative. With over 17 years of experience across Mullen Lintas, Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson, Grey Worldwide and Infectious, Kalita has crafted distinct brand stories across categories and brands. Some of his stellar pieces of work have been seen on campaigns for brands like Pharmeasy, Motilal Oswal, Tata Cliq, Voot, Too Yumm!, Bajaj Avenger, Marico, Reliance Life Insurance, MTV Beats and many more. He has also picked up a number of metals during his career across Cannes, Kyoorius, and the Effies.

    Mandar Gore has moved within the group as senior director – strategy. At Tilt Brand Solutions, he was leading strategy on brands like Licious, Livspace, 24 Mantra, The Pink Foundry, Groww, Swiggy to name a few. Gore had joined Tilt after over 16 years across advertising and brand consulting. In his earlier stints at FCB, Ogilvy and Sideways Consulting, he worked on brands like Bournvita, Kamasutra, Fosters, Amaron, Castrol, Mahindra & Mahindra and Pidilite, amongst others. His work on them has won him Indian as well as international effectiveness laurels at Effies India/APAC and AME.

    Nandita Sinha to take charge as new Myntra CEO

    Mumbai: Online fashion retailer Myntra has announced the appointment of Nandita Sinha as chief executive officer, effective 1 January 2022. Sinha will join Myntra from group company Flipkart, where, as vice president of customer growth and marketing, she is currently leading the overall charter for marketing.

    As a seasoned leader in the consumer internet space, Sinha has deep expertise in leading businesses and driving tech-pivoted growth and innovation. During her nearly eight-year stint at Flipkart, she has worked across multiple roles and categories, including beauty & personal care, books and general merchandise, home and furniture and has built a strong organisation, grooming several future leaders with her exemplary people skills, said the company in a statement.

    “Myntra is integral to the group as an organisation that leads the charter on fashion, beauty and lifestyle, solving the dynamic needs of the modern fashion-conscious consumer,” said Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy. “As the forerunner of several innovations and unique consumer experiences, our aspirations continue to grow for Myntra as a separate company. I am certain that with her strong background in driving businesses and an acute focus on customer-centricity, Nandita (Sinha) will be instrumental in defining the next phase of Myntra’s evolution as its CEO.”

    Sinha joined Flipkart in August 2013 after stints in Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Britannia Industries Ltd. Before joining Flipkart, she was the co-founder at MyBabyCart.com. She holds an MBA in marketing and strategy from FMS Delhi and is a BTech Graduate from IIT BHU.
