    Yoodlee Films’ ‘Agra’ wins Best Film at Prestigious NYIFF Awards

    Mumbai: Globally acclaimed and celebrated film, ‘Agra’ has won two major awards at the New York Indian Film Festival Awards. The film won the award for Best Film, and actor Mohit Agarwal was awarded Best Actor Male for the film amidst eminent nominations. After receiving high praise across film festivals such as Cannes, Jio MAMI, Busan, and IFF Melbourne, Agra continues to put India on the global map by winning at the most celebrated NYIFF Awards. ‘Agra’ was one of the most awarded Indian films at NYIFF, with director Kanu Behl and actors Mohit Agarwal and Priyanka Bose nominated in principal categories.

    Alongwith the nominees, the film features a stellar cast led by Rahul Roy in a remarkable comeback, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami. Directed by the renowned filmmaker Kanu Behl, the narrative delves into the complexities of love, desire, and familial bonds against the backdrop of a dysfunctional household in small-town India.

    Kanu Behl shared his excitement, “Cinema is truly a universal language, and it is overwhelming that something so personal to me is being recognized on a global stage. It is an honour to win such a prestigious award and a proud moment to represent India at this festival. The love and appreciation from audiences and critics globally have been exhilarating.”

    Mohit Agarwal expressed his joy in winning the prestigious award, “I am ecstatic to receive the Best Actor award at the NYIFF film festival. It’s a recognition for our hard work and toil and to represent India on such a prestigious platform feels surreal!”

    The film is written by Kanu Behl and Atika Chohan.

    Srinivasan Swamy receives International Honorary Award at AD STARS, Busan, Korea

    MUMBAI: At the recently concluded 12th edition of AD STARS held in Busan, Korea, Mr Srinivasan Swamywas recognized with Korea’s highest honour  for his significant contribution  to the advertising industry. AD STARS is considered as one of the largest advertising festivals since it receives over 20,000 entries of creative work from nearly 60 countries, with Jury members from as many  countries evaluating and awarding excellence in creativity.

    Mr Swamy is the Chairman and Managing Director of R K SWAMY BBDO, one the reputed advertising agencies in India. He also is the Chairman of the R K SWAMY HANSA Group,  which has units like Hansa Customer Equity, Hansa Research, Hansa Vision, Hansa Events, Hansa Medcell, Hansa PR, Hansa Outdoor,  Hansa Consulting etc. The group employs nearly 3000 people and has revenues in excess of US$ 100 Million, serving  over 100 clients.

    He currently serves as the Chairman and World President of International Advertising Association (IAA), the industry body headquartered in New York, USA, with a presence in 56 countries around the world. He is also the Vice Chairman of Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA). He is an industry veteran having functioned as Chairman of Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations (CAAAA), Presidents of Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Advertising Standards Council of India and the India Chapter of IAA.

    On receiving  the award,  Mr Swamy  said “I am humbled and honoured to receive the award  on behalf of all my industry colleagues who helped me make a difference to the various tasks we addressed together. The industry is at a transitional phase with issues of enhanced data  privacy regulations that could change the way we communicate with our various  target  audiences. We will do our bit to provide the direction we need to take,  over the next couple  of years”.

    Mr Swamy  has  been earlier recognized in various  forums for his outstanding contributions. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from both AAAI and Rotary Club of Guindy, the Distinguished Service Award from Advertising Club Madras, and was recognized as IAA Global Champion at the inaugural Inspire Awards in London,  by IAA Global. He was inducted into the IAA Hall of Fame instituted  by the India Chapter. Japan Advertising Agencies Association recognized him
    with their Merit Honour for his singular  contribution  to the formation of CAAAA and thought  leadership.

    Ten films by newcomers to compete in Busan

    New Delhi: Ten films are to feature in the New Currents Competition in South Korea‘s Busan International Film Festival next month.
    The section in the Festival from 4 to 13 October is for first- and second-time directors. This year‘s selection comprises films by an unusual number of first-time directors.
    The lineup includes two films from South Korea and two from Taiwan, and one film apiece from Thailand, Philippines, India and Japan, in addition to two titles – within the festivals‘s broad definition of Asia – from Iraq and Lebanon.
    The Korean films are coming-of-age drama Fatal in which “sin, conscience and accountability take center stage”, and Your Time is Up about the “living avenging the dead”.
    From Taiwan, Chang Rong-ji‘s Touch of the Light is about the relationship between a blind pianist and a female dance student. It is joined by another first feature, Hsu Chao-jen’s ensemble drama Together.
    Thai scriptwriter Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit is taking 36 which “examines the power of memory to create reality” after a hard drive crash destroys a year worth of photographs.

    The Philippines‘ Vincent Sandoval is presenting his second film Apparition which is about an “act of brutal violence that shatters a convent‘s cloistered tranquility”. Its selection had already been announced in domestic media.

    India‘s Filmistaan features “a kidnapped Indian production grunt who bonds with his Pakistani captors over their shared love of Bollywood”. From Japan, The Town of Whales is about a high-school student‘s quest for her missing brother.

    Twelve Indian films in Busan in its 17th edition

    NEW DELHI: Twelve Indian films are to be screened in different sections of the 17th Busan International Film Festival in Korea.

    The festival will be held from 4 to 13 October and feature a total of 304 films from 75 countries.

    ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’ will feature the film Born to Hate…Destined to Love (Ishaqzaade) by Habib Faisal, I.D by Kamal K.M, Shymal Uncle Turns off the Lights by Suman Ghosh, and Valley of Saints (India/United States) by Musa Syeed.

    The New Currents section will have Filmistaan by Nitin Kakkar, while the Wide Angle section will feature In God’s Land by Pankaj Rishi Kumar, The Artist by Siddartha Jatla, Arjun by Arnap Chaudhuri, and CHAR… the No-Man’s Island by Sourav Sarangi.

    Open Cinema will have the new film Barfi! by Anurag Basu, while Midnight Passion will screen both parts of Gangs of Wasseypur by Anurag Kashyap.
