    Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) has bagged a total of nine excellence awards for corporate collaterals at the 16th Global Communication Conclave organised by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) in Kolkata on 12 November 2022.

    The company received nine awards in the following categories: public relations, business campaigns, use of social media and campaigns, annual reports, corporate events, and corporate responsibility campaigns.

    The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) is a pan-India communication exchange forum with offices in 38 cities and towns across India. This premier network connects PR, media, commercial and public service advertising, marcom, academia in communication, and students. The PRCI Annual Corporate Collateral Awards for corporate communications are presented annually to recognise talent and professional standards.

    BPCL was recognised for its purpose-driven public relations and brand strategy that adds delightful dynamism to communication and the manner in which BPCL leverages the power of both traditional and digital media to reach the relevant target audience.

    BPCL onboards Arun Kumar Singh as new CMD

    Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) has brought on board Arun Kumar Singh as chairman and managing director (CMD) of the company.

    The state-run oil refining and marketing company also appointed Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta as new director for finance.

    BPCL has been without a full-time CMD after the previous incumbent superannuated on August 31 last year.

    The role of director finance has been vacant since 1 August after the N Vijayagopal, stepped down from the position on 31 July, upon superannuation.

    A mechanical engineer by qualification, Singh was earlier director of marketing on the board of the company, holding additional charge of director (refineries) and director (finance). In his more than 36 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, he has headed business units and entities in BPCL such as retail, LPG, pipelines, supply chain optimization, etc. 

    He also held the position of president (Africa & Australia) in Bharat Petro Resources Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BPCL, engaged in the exploration of oil & gas, largely overseas.

    Brands pay homage to nation’s martyrs on Kargil Vijay Diwas

    MUMBAI: As the nation remembered the sacrifices made by the soldiers in the 1999 Kargil War, brands also came up with stirring tributes to mark the Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July. The historic day marks the end of the war with neighbouring Pakistan, and the success of ‘Operation Vijay’, which was launched by the Indian Army to reclaim the Kargil peaks captured by Pakistan forces.

    BPCL in collaboration with renowned writer and lyricist, Manoj Muntashir marked the momentous occasion by paying a tribute to our martyrs through a rousing, moving poem recited by the writer.

    Going a step ahead, Bharat Petroleum also provided Fuel Station dealerships to families of 59 martyrs and Bharatgas distributorships to 32 of them to ensure continuity of a steady life ahead, despite the loss of their loved ones in the war.

    The beverage brand has recently launched a set of limited-edition cans as homage to ‘SherShaah’ of Kargil, Captain Vikram Batra and many other bravehearts, who led India to victory during one of the country’s harshest clashes. The cans are in hues of blue and gold featuring Pepsi’s ‘yeh dil maange more’ slogan, immortalised by Captain Batra.

    The limited-edition cans also feature a QR code, through which consumers will be able to view Pepsi’s tribute to Capt. Batra. The ode is narrated by the Kargil martyr’s identical twin brother, Vishal Batra. Through the video, Batra reminisces about his life with his brother and his tale of heroism.

    “22 years ago, Vikram’s powerful voice rang out over a radio and inspired patriotism in Indians of all ages as he said ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’. Today, ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I am both proud and grateful that Pepsi is taking the story of his selflessness and courage across the country. It was an emotional experience for me to record the ode which is dedicated to my twin brother as it brought back many fond memories of him. I am hopeful that the story of his valour will inspire millions of Indians and remind them of the sacrifices by the brave souls who are on the border, so that we can feel safe back home”, said Batra.

    “‘Yeh Dil Maange More’, a phrase that has always been synonymous with Pepsi, took on a new meaning when Capt. Batra adopted the line as his rallying cry. We are proud to honour the valour and selflessness of Capt. Batra and many other soldiers like him through the new limited-edition cans and a special heartfelt video. This Kargil Vijay Diwas, we are remembering all those brave heroes and saluting their indomitable spirit and resilience,” PepsiCo India said in a press statement.

    Tokyo 2020: Brands riding the Olympics bandwagon to root for Team India

    MUMBAI: As India enters its 100th year of participation at the Olympic Games, the world witnesses the Games as never before. The country sent its first team to the Olympic Games in 1920, comprising four athletes and two wrestlers. Cut to this year’s 228-strong Indian contingent- the nation’s largest ever- at the event, delayed by a year due to Covid-19, and being staged amid a raging global pandemic, with zero spectators cheering from the bylanes.

    However, that hasn’t stopped brands from going all out to cheer for Team India, as the mother of all gaming events gets underway. Brands have launched rousing, stirring campaigns that aim to infuse hope and cheer at an otherwise sombre Games, dampened by the pandemic.

    Astral Pipes put out a heartening post acknowledging the efforts of all Olympians, regardless of whether they bring laurels back home, or not. It wrote:

    “To all the Indian Athletes, we know you have worked really hard for the Olympics, we are proud of you.     The Mobile Premier League (MPL) launched a campaign featuring some of the biggest Indian Olympic stars, as part of a nationwide campaign to rally the 1.3 billion Indians to become fans of the Indian contingent at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Called #FanBannJaaoge, the campaign features a film in multiple languages with Olympians PV Sindhu, Wrestler Bajrang Punia, Fencer Bhavani Devi, Shooter Manu Bhaker, and others. It was released across all mediums- TV, print & digital platforms.

    The Group launched an extension of its campaign, Rukna Nahi Hai, to celebrate and wish the Indian contingent.  The campaign comprises a video featuring Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Manu Bhaker, Bajrang Punia and Vikas Krishan Yadav, lauds the indomitable spirit of the Indian athletes. The film also celebrates the official sponsorship by the Indian conglomerate of the Indian Olympic Association for the Tokyo2020 Games. The video showcases how the athletes have had to train harder through the challenging circumstances owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, which even caused the mega-event to be postponed by a year.

    The Indian brand from the Coca-Cola beverage portfolio, has come to the forefront and partnered with the major global event. It launched the adrenaline-thumping Toofan wahi jo sab #PalatDe campaign, cheering Team India at the Games.

    Tokyo Olympics: BPCL celebrates Indian athletes in the latest campaign

    Mumbai: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has launched a series of campaigns under the title ‘Jeet Ka Padak’ to support and celebrate Indian sportspersons at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. A total of seven BPCL employees will represent India in the Games scheduled to begin from 23 July.

    Olympic Games are watched by an incredibly broad range of people and the sense of nationality that the Olympics fosters is what turns the Games into a worldwide phenomenon. BPCL has lined up series of campaigns to take the brand to people during Olympics, said BPCL chief general manager, PR and brand, Abbas Akhtar.

    A special digital campaign ‘Humans of Bharat Petroleum’ narrates the inspiring stories of seven BPCL sportspersons Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das who will represent Indian Archery, and Lalit Upadhyay, Virendra Lakra, Harmanpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Varun Kumar are the members of Men’s Hockey team.

    BPCL has a rich history of supporting budding sports talents, inducting about 250 sportspersons in various sporting disciplines in the last several decades. “Among oil & gas PSUs, BPCL has the largest presence in Tokyo Olympics 2020. We, at BPCL, have always identified, inducted, and nurtured talent in various sporting disciplines,” Akhtar added.

    Other components of the ‘Jeet Ka Padak’ campaign will include an Olympic trivia quiz, videos on archery and hockey; inspiring stories of players on social media platforms, and on-ground activities including a ‘selfie’ booth at BPCL’s fuel stations. The company has planned for traditional BTL campaigns, social media campaigns, integrated campaigns, as well as reaching out to employees through in-house communication mediums.

    MUMBAI: Real estate major DLF has selected Scarecrow Communications as its creative agency for some of its residential products across India following a rigorous pitch process. The Delhi office of Scarecrow will handle the account.


    DLF, founded in 1946 by Raghuvendra Singh, currently has over 3000 acres of planned development in place. It is known for having developed Gurgaon into a major international sub city.
