Ishaan Khatter suits up as the next big face in Boss global campaign

MUMBAI: Behold the new Boss move Indian star Ishaan Khatter has officially joined the cast of Hugo Boss’ Fall/Winter 2025 campaign, Be the Next, putting a bold spin on the brand’s iconic “be your own boss” platform.

Khatter, who recently dazzled at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival with his Hollywood breakout Homebound, is now fronting the campaign as one of its global faces, alongside English actor (and future DC superhero) Aaron Pierre, K-pop megastar S.Coups of Seventeen, tennis ace Taylor Fritz, and fashion’s fastest-rising model, Amelia Gray. Together, the eclectic line-up embodies the campaign’s mantra of ambition, individuality, and rewriting the rulebook.

The campaign film charts Khatter’s symbolic walk through a tunnel towards a radiant light mirroring his own artistic journey from Mumbai’s indie films to the global stage. Styled in rich textures and sleek tonal layers from the Boss FW25 collection, he embodies the modern Boss: risk-taker, rule-breaker, and legacy-maker.

Speaking about his new role, Khatter said:“It’s about staying true to yourself, pushing boundaries, and constantly striving to grow. For me, it’s not just about success but about the journey and the stories we create along the way.”

With its global cast, the campaign will hit the streets (and screens) through a 360-degree blitz billboards lighting up major world cities, high-traffic outdoor spots, and a digital push across platforms. The collection itself will roll out in Boss stores worldwide, online at boss.com, and through wholesale partners.

For Khatter, hailed as Bollywood’s “It Boy” gone international, this campaign cements his place not just as a rising actor but as a global style force. For Boss, it’s another step in reframing power dressing for a generation that’s hungry to own its narrative.

  • ‘Mickey Virus’ director Saurabh Varma signs 2 new films

‘Mickey Virus’ director Saurabh Varma signs 2 new films

MUMBAI: After a quirky take on cyber-crime, the writer-director of Mickey Virus, Saurabh Varma has now signed two films with the upcoming media house Krian Media.

His next flick Meet The Patels, whose cast has not been finalised yet will also be a comedy revolving around two roommates Tom Patel and Jerry Patel. The storyline will focus on the two protagonists, who will do anything to save their love except grow up. On the other hand, his second film, titled Faster, will be a new-age action suspense thriller.

While Meet The Patels will go on floor in a month and release in April 2015, the second film will release in last quarter of 2015. Both the films will target at the urban youth and family audiences.

The producers Krian Media had recently distributed GI Joe Retaliation 3D in India and Akshay Kumar’s Boss in foreign markets.

Released last October, Saurabh Varma’s Mickey Virus, was a thriller-comedy starring Manish Paul, Dean Alexandrou and Elli Avram.

  • Krrish 3 continues its strong run at the BO

Krrish 3 continues its strong run at the BO

MUMBAI: Ram Gopal Varma’s attempt at cashing in on the title of his earlier film – Satya – with Satya 2, fails badly. The film is a nonstarter. A poor fare sans face value, the film has been generally ignored by the moviegoer. The film barely managed to cross the one crore mark for its opening weekend.

Krrish 3 makes the most of its one time watch appeal and solo festival week release despite reports not being in its favour. The film’s collections peaked to a high of Rs 31 crore on Monday once the dull period of pre-Diwali and Diwali were over. The film has gone on to collect Rs 120 crore. The open second week is expected to give the film a good follow up looking at the second weekend which has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark.

Micky Virus has added just Rs 50 lakh in its second week to take its two week total to Rs 7.9 crore.
Boss has collected Rs 40 lakh in its third week to take its three week tally to Rs 52.1 crore.

  • No audience, No show status this week

No audience, No show status this week

MUMBAI: With five releases last Friday, most without face value, it was ‘no audience, no show’ status at many cinema houses. Wake Up India, Delhi Gang, Ishk Actually and Sooper Se Ooper were the ones to suffer.

Micky Virus is the one that survived the opening weekend with figures of Rs 4.25 crore. The going will be tough as the new week starts. This film also marked the debut of Manish Paul on the big screen.

Boss collects Rs 47.2 crore in its first week (Nine days). The Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer film released on 16 October and
Shahid has collected Rs 3.1 crore in its first week.

War Chhod Na Yaar has added Rs 45 lakh in its second week to take its two week total to Rs 6.7 crore.

Exhibition trade is facing its dullest period of the year as pre-Diwali is always a bad time for new releases. Theatres have very poor footfalls and are now resting their hopes on the Rakesh Roshan – Hrithik Roshan brand, Krrish 3. Exhibitors have paid high MG for this film and anticipation is high.

  • Boss collects only Rs 38.2 crore

Boss collects only Rs 38.2 crore

MUMBAI: The mid week release to cash in on a festival has backfired on Boss (second film to suffer so in recent times after Besharam). Released on Eid day (Wednesday), it opened to lukewarm response earlier to consolidate by evening shows at single screens. However, the first day figures barely managed to touch Rs 12 crore. The Basi Eid was expected to help maintain steady collections but that did not happen as the collections dropped by nearly Rs 5 crore. The film went on to collect Rs 25 crore for the first three days and close its five day weekend at Rs 38.2 crore.

Shahid found the appreciation but has not yet backed it up with the collections. This Mumbai-centric film faced opposition from the 15th Mumbai Film Festival as film buffs who would love such a film were drawn to the film fest. The film collected about Rs 2 crore in its first weekend.

War Chhod Na Yaar has managed to see the week through. The film has collected Rs 6.25 crore for its first week.

Besharam drops to less than 10 per cent of its first week figures. The film has collected Rs 4.35 crore in its second week (16 days) to take its two week total to Rs 54.65 crore.

The Lunch Box has collected Rs 85 lakh in its fourth week taking its four week tally to Rs 20.25 crore. It was revealed during the 15th Mumbai Film Festival that the Irrfan Khan starrer will also be releasing in France on 11 December this year.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero has added Rs 55 lakh in its fourth week taking its four week total to Rs 35.95 crore.

Grand Masti has collected Rs 60 lakh in its fifth week, just about ending its eventful run at the box office and taking its total to Rs 91.8 crore.

  • Not so bossy after all

    Not so bossy after all

MUMBAI: Boss reminds you of a brand of hand mixer of the same name. It is a blend of similar films from 1970s and 80s with two brothers, a principled father and a misunderstanding where brothers are parted. Traditionally, one takes the illegal route while the other is the father’s blue-eyed boy. The brothers come together to prove blood is thicker than water a decade and a half later. How is the film contemporary? In those days, a mother slapped her elder one and threw him out, here it is done by the father; the hero does not have a childhood sweetheart pining and waiting for him to return; the music is louder and lyrics make no sense most of the time and mainly, the fight is over the villain’s sister.

The film starts in an old-fashioned way, trying to set the pace of the film with action by various artistes for the first 40 minutes before it introduces Akshay Kumar with yet another action sequence, a greedy one because it refuses to end! The only action hero of yore who does not have a fight scene is Mithun Chakraborty.

Akshay Kumar, who has been banished from his home in Banaras by his father, Mithun, ends up in Haryana in nick of time to save the local don and Big Boss, Danny. Seeing honesty mixed with anger in the young lad, Danny takes him under his wing to make him his heir, and names him Boss. Big Boss’s front is as the owner of a transport fleet but otherwise he is a supari contractor. On the other side is a policeman, Ronit Roy, who wants to be the commissioner of police and to achieve this, he handles the dirty deals department for the wannabe CM, Govind Namdeo.

    Producer: Ashwin Warde
    Director: Anthony DSouza.
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa, Ronit Roy, Shiv Pandit, Aditi Rao Hydari, Johny Lever, Parikshit Sahni, Govind Namdeo, Sanjay Mishra

It is time to work on a family story and to absolve Akshay of his childhood act which led to his ouster from home. Akshay’s kid brother, Shiv Pandit, is romancing Aditi Rao Hydari, the sister of Ronit. Ronit wants her to marry Namdeo’s son in exchange for the Commissioner’s post. Namdeo wants an outsider to kill Shiv so fingers don’t point at him. The contract to kill him is given to Akshay. At the same time, Mithun gives a contract to save Shiv to Akshay. The brothers combine to foil all the evil plans of the villains through expected twists and turns with no pretence of logic or justification. It is supposed to be old-fashioned entertainment after all!

A remake of the 2010 Malayalam movie, Pokkiri Raja, the film maintains its south flavour in treatment and even the choice of fighters and junior artistes. It also sticks to south style of action and stunts which is too much in vogue with Hindi films lately. Action and light banter of Akshay is what the film counts on to entertain the viewers. Direction is fair. The photography is good. Some one-liners are funny, some flat. Music is a lot of noisy stuff which makes following the lyrics tough. Akshay is his usual self in the roles he plays on regular basis now; a carefree character with unbeatable energy and fighting power. Shiv gets scope to showcase his action prowess and also his romantic side. Aditi Rao Hydari is okay. Mithun seems miscast in an Alokenath kind of role. Parikshit Sahani’s presence in the film is unexplained since he just has to hang around Mithun. It is nice to see Danny on screen after a long time. Ronit makes a perfect villain against Akshay. Johny Lever and Sanjay Mishra are okay with their comic input. Govind Namdeo is the usual villain like his many such roles before.
