    MUMBAI: AmbiPur Air Effects has rolled out a national campaign ‘Smelly to Smiley’ to drive the need to identify household odours and eliminate them.

    The campaign has been launched in association with the brand ambassador Boman Irani. To give the consumers a proof of brand efficacy, the very witty ambassador takes it upon himself by launching India’s first ‘Smelfie’ Challenge, to prove that AmbiPur does not just mask odours, it eliminates them completely.

    AmbiPure India marketing manager Nidhish Garg said, “We believe that most households today are not even aware of the odours existing in their house, and hence are not taking any action towards getting rid of them. We want the #SmellytoSmiley campaign to be an eye opener for people, urging them to identify their household odours, and challenge AmbiPur, to witness for themselves that Air Effects does not just mask odours, but completely eliminates them.”

    The campaign conceptualized by Grey Düsseldorf and supported by Grey Mumbai, showcases how the brand ambassador has full faith in the product and is now urging people to challenge the brand with their worst household odours. The campaign takes inspiration from the fact that even the cleanest houses can have odours. There is no shame in this, but there is shame in not doing anything about it. Instead of acting upon it, people either ignore the odour, or resort to compensatory behavior like opening windows, incense sticks, etc.

    “We have seen the success of the campaign’s first leg last year, and that was great motivation to work on this year’s #SmellyToSmiley campaign. Selfies are gripping people all around us. So, we decided to add an interesting twist to it by linking it back to the Brand and its proposition, by introducing the first-of-its-kind ‘Smelfie’ contest. When the brand ambassador has as much faith in the product as Boman has in AmbiPur, it just makes the execution that much simpler. Not to forget, Boman’s ever-charming, witty demeanor has made it a very fun campaign for us to work on!,” said Grrey Mumbai Pooja Ambulkar (Creative Controller – Copy), and Naved Siddiqui (Associate Creative Director – Art).

    Consumers are invited to click their ‘smelfies’ with what they consider the most difficult household odour to get rid of, and send it to http://bit.ly/2aFfXqb across the 15 days of the contest. The winners will get entry tickets to Boman Irani’s house party where will he will demonstrate Ambi Pur’s efficacy and eliminate the household odours brought in by winners. Boman is convinced of Ambi Pur’s victory owing to his personal experience. However, he also announces the forfeit in case AmbiPur doesn’t live up to the challenge: he will change 100 diapers in a nursery!

    Irani added,“I have been a user of AmbiPur before I became an endorser. I have realized that whether you like it or not, every home has household odours. There is no shame in that!     Houseful 3……Happy hours!

    MUMBAI: Houseful 3 follows Sajid Nadiadwala’s Houseful (2010) and Houseful 2 (2012), both of which saw varying degrees of success. This instalment too follows the same pattern of many characters filling the screen with silly gags and actions that are meant to keep the viewer occupied. In short, it is a leave-your-brain-at-home film that does not require a script.

    Boman Irani is a kind of shipping tycoon based in UK with three daughters, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon who he assumes to be simple, sanskari girls living according to their names: Ganga, Jamuna and Saraswati. He has some superstition about women in his family marrying because there are instances of bad happenings in the aftermath.

    However, unknown to Boman as well as to each other, all three sisters have a man in their life. These are Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. These three pretend to be in love but their real aim is to pocket many millions of wealth that vests between these three sisters.

    Boman has sought the help of Chunky Pandey, playing Aakhri Pasta in all the films, who comes dressed as a fortuneteller and predicts that the marriage of each girl bodes ill for Boman, who will die the moment the each sister’s man sets eyes on him, or steps into the house or utters the first word to Boman, respectively.

    For the comedy and buffoonery to happen, most of the characters have to be under one roof. The girls and guys devise a plan. Akshay, an aspiring footballer, comes over on a wheel chair, he is incapable of stepping down or walking so Boman is safe on that count. Abhishek, dreaming of becoming a rapper, enters the house as a mute so there is no question of uttering a word to Boman. Riteish, who is raring to become a formula one driver, pretends to be blind; he can’t set eyes on Boman and hence even the third bad omen is ineffective.

    Now enter three more suitors for these girls in Nikitin Dheer, Sameer Kochhar and Arav Chowdhary. Just out of jail, they are presented as Boman’s choice for the girls. Jackie Shroff enters the scene. An ex-don of Mumbai, Jackie is also just out of jail and decides to meet his underling, Boman in London. When jailed, Jackie had transferred Boman along with all his wealth to London. He also agrees with Boman’s choice of boys.

    For Dheer, Kochhar and Chowdhary, the hitch is that though Boman and Jackie prefer them for the girls, but the girls love Akshay, Abhishek and Riteish. After some more one-upmanship duels between the two groups, the good have to win over the evil. The idea is toraise some laughter and, hence, the battles have to be won with wit, not hand-to-hand fights.

    The film does not have to adhere to a particular script. It resorts to gags to follow a loosely woven story and anything can be turned or twisted at will. On that count, Sajid and Farhad do a fair job. The film has passable musical score despite a number of lyric writers and composers; however, the choreography is executed in an entertaining manner. Photography captures lush London locations very well.

    As for performances, Akshay Kumar, playing one with a split personality, excels in this film with his varied expressions and deadpan timing. Abhishek and Riteish play the perfect foils. Jacqueline, Nargis and Lisa add to the glamour quotient. Boman and Jackie do well. Of the three villains, Nikitin towers over the rest while Kochhar and Chowdhary are okay.

    Houseful 3 is a fair entertainer to hit the cinemas after a long draught. The film caters to all kind of audience and should manage a decent stay at the box office.

The locally produced musical theatre extravaganza attracted a huge crowd of celebrities and once again left everyone mesmerized with their breath-taking performances.

    The show spotted Varun Dhawan, Boman Irani, Terrence Lewis, Vishal Dadlani, Karishma Tanna and others attending the grand musical.

    The highly anticipated show boasts of world class production values, extravagant sets, stunning costumes and over 100 of the finest musical theatre performers bringing alive the magical love story live on stage.     Zee Classic lines up Bimal Roy Film Festival in February

    MUMBAI: Zee Classic is gearing up to present an ode to the pioneer of Indian cinema – Bimal Roy by celebrating noteworthy work from the golden era.

     

    Commemorating Roy’s 50th death anniversary, Zee Classic will celebrate the life and work of the legendary filmmaker with the Bimal Roy Film Festival, which will be presented by Boman Irani.

     

    Irani will present some of extraordinary and undiscovered facts and trivia about the filmmaker whose films, even after five decades, are still innovative and relevant today. In a five-part weekly series, the channel will showcase Roy’s awe-inspiring films every Saturday at 8 pm starting with Do Bigha Zamin on 6 February followed by Devdas on 13 February, Madhumati on 20 February, Sujata on 27 February andBandini on 5 March.

     

    The channel has roped in State Bank of India as the co-powered by sponsor for the festival.

     

    Satyajit Ray referred to Roy as the ‘Pioneer of Indian Cinema.’ He was known to be everyone’s first choice as a director and he received a lot of international accolades. Roy began his career as a cinematographer under director, P.C. Barua. His first project as a cameraman was Devdas, based on the novel of Sarat Chandra. He turned director with a Bengali film, Udayer Pathe. After shifting his base to Mumbai, he made few films but the world took notice of this gentle legend with the classic film, Do Bigha Zamin.

     

    One of his popular films that represented India in 1960 Cannes Film Festival was Sujata. It is based on a Bengali short story written by Subodh Ghosh and dealt with the subject of untouchability starring Nutan. The actress repeated her outstanding performance in Roy’s melodious Bandini, an intense romantic drama that shed light on mental and physical rehabilitation of a female murderer. To top it all, his Madhumati was the first Indian film to be launched abroad and its opening shot was taken in front of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Theatre in Czechoslovakia.

     

    Speaking about presenting the film festival on Zee Classic, Irani says, “I am honoured to be presenting the Bimal Roy Film Festival on Zee Classic. Bimal Da was an institution in himself. Decades have passed and there is still a lot more to learn from his school of filmmaking. Through this festival, we are aiming not only to appreciate but relive his passion, his outlook towards society and its reform which are still relevant today.”
