Movie enthusiasts in Mumbai will be the first in the world to witness Jason Statham’s return as Adam Clay on the grand cinematic canvas. The exclusive screening is set to premiere on Wednesday, 17 January 2024, at 5:00 pm, hosted at PVR Juhu, Mumbai.     Mumbai: On Friday evening, Spotify, the official streaming partner for the film ‘Animal’, brought the cast and music team of the film together for an exclusive fan experience, featuring performances, a conversation with Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol, and the launch of the album.

    Mumbai: India’s largest advertising supported video on demand (AVoD) OTT platform MX Player received three awards at the recently held Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2022 for the platform and its original series Aashram. 

    While MX Player was awarded the Best OTT Platform, Prakash Jha was awarded the Best Director for web-series Aashram and Chandan Roy Sanyal was given the Best Supporting Actor Award for his portrayal as Bhopa Swami in Aashram.

    Chandan Roy Sanyal won the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2022 Best Actor in Supporting Role for the series, Aashram. It is such a great feeling to receive an award like this.     Mumbai: MX Original series Ek Badnaam… Aashram 3, produced and directed by industry stalwart Prakash Jha, has been breaking records since its release. The series has been a huge success. The first two seasons of the show were hugely popular among viewers, which made it probably the most-watched television show on Indian OTT. However, the recent third season, Ek Badnaam…Aashram 3, has been equally successful in entering the 100 million viewership club within just 32 hours of its release, becoming the fastest-growing show on Indian OTT so far.

    With each passing season, the series appears to be setting new standards. Aashram’s first two seasons had a total viewership of around 160 million unique users. In addition, within six hours of the season three trailer’s release, the show was trending at number one on YouTube in India. Season three has received unprecedented love and appreciation from audiences. Since its release on 3 June 2022, the plot and characters have been the talk of the town.

    Mumbai: MX Player has signed five sponsors for the third season of its most-watched web-series Aashram. The sponsors on board include Vimal Elaichi as ‘title sponsor’, Goldiee as ‘co-powered by’ sponsor, Kent Mineral RO, Royal Green and Crax have been onboarded as ‘special partners’.

    Aashram 3 is set to begin streaming on 3 June. As per the platform, the show was watched by 160 million unique users in its first season and the second season crossed 50 million views in 17 hours. The series has been consumed by more than 60 million users in the region of Maharashtra and Delhi NCR.

    The Q to premiere MX original show ‘Aashram’ on TV

    Mumbai: The Q has partnered with MX Player to bring its critically and commercially successful original series “Aashram” to television. The first season of the show will air on 11 October at 8:30 p.m from Monday to Friday followed by the second season.

    Directed by Prakash Jha, the crime thriller features Bobby Deol, Tridha Choudhury, Aditi Sudhir Pohankar and Anupriya Goenka in the lead roles.

    “Great content does wonders irrespective of its platform. Having understood the pulse of our viewers, we at The Q continue to make efforts in bringing content that is strong, and unique with a compelling and relevant plot and storyline,” said The Q chief executive officer Simran Hoon. “Airing Aashram on TV is in sync with our strategy to bring the best from digital to TV.  We will continue to pioneer such initiatives to help strengthen The Q’s position in the industry while being the preferred entertainment destination for viewers across India.”

    Inspired by true events, “Aashram” was launched in 2020 and revolves around the story of Baba Nirala, an actual conman who ensures that his devotees or followers devote their wealth to him and stay attached to his aashram.

    Poster Boys is a remake of the 2014 Marathi film, Poshter Boyz. A comedy, the film also carries a social message for men to go for vasectomy as there was no shame in doing so while also not forcing only women to take that responsibility.

    The characters played by Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade are three individuals from different walks of life.

    Sunny is an ex-army man and a ‘chaudhary,’ the head of the house and much respected in the locality. Bobby, a schoolteacher, is a henpecked husband and a father of two daughters. Bobby’s wife is known to throw tantrums at the end of which walks off to her ‘maika.’ So much so that the driver and conductor on the bus to her village are also familiar with the couple.

    The role played by Shreyas is a footloose young man, using strong-arm tactics working as a loan recovery agent along with his two childhood friends. Shreyas is in love with a girl and plans to marry her.

    Sunny is preparing for his sister’s engagement ceremony but when it is time for the groom and his family, he is told that the match is off and the groom’s family did want to have anything more with Sunny’s family. However, no explanation is forthcoming.

    Similarly, Shreyas’s match is vetoed by the girl’s father but he won’t explain why.

    Bobby faces his usual problem, his wife walks out on him for devising a way to destroy their hope for a son. Bobby is at sea about what she means.

    The three are out when, one by one, they face the cause of their problem and ostracisation by people. They see posted behind a state transport bus a poster with three of them modelling for vasectomy/nasbandi and advocating its virtues. The place the trio comes from, it is like sacrilege, something akin to losing one’s manhood! The trio becomes a butt of jokes and ridicule.

    Of the three, Sunny is the mighty one but opts for peace and logic most of the time; Shreyas is aggressive and ready to fight while Bobby is the shy, xxx kind. The three, on Sunny’s say-so, decide to go to the root of this problem as to how and why their pictures were used, and who is responsible.

    They realize that, in the era of digital cameras, their zest for selfies and posing for pictures has been misused.

    The film is a frame-to-frame remake of its Marathi version, and has a script that cares more for gags. Some characters could have been avoided or given limited footage.

    Direction is fair as Shreyas makes his directorial debut but follows the original to the T. Dialogue and gags are the lifeline and have an impact at places.

    The film has one song by Daler Mehndi from Sunny Deol’s 1999 film, Arjun, that works. The production value is shoddy.

    As for performances, Sunny is restrained and effective. Bobby is awkward at times but that goes with his character. Shreyas has the author -backed role of an extrovert and caters to the gallery.

    Poster Boys is an average entertainer. Having opened below par, it has the weekend to cash in on. The prospects thereafter hold limited hope.

    Dharmendra turns Rapper for YPD sequel

    MUMBAI: Yesteryear actor Dharmendra will be seen rapping for his upcoming movie ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2‘ (YPD 2).

    YPD 2 starring Dharmendra along with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Neha Sharma, Kristina Akheeva and Annu Kapoor will also be featuring in the song. The song has been composed by Sharib-Toshi and choreographed by Caesar Gonsalves.

    A glimpse of this song has already been incorporated in the theatrical trailer of the film, which was unveiled in March.

    As reported in a press statement Neha said, "Dharam ji was the youngest Deol on the sets, during the making of this song. The coolest things to do were given to him. He has these hot ladies sitting around him in the video, which is a cute moment."

    "For the first time, we will be seeing Dharam ji doing Punjabi rap on the screen. His ‘rapper‘ look, with the rings on his fingers, is really special in this song," added the co-composer of the song Sharib Sabri.

    The makers have now come out with an interesting promotional idea that the makers of the film have come up with. They got innovative with the film?s first look by offering the audiences the opportunity to view the trailer through the good, old and now-forgotten bioscope!

    This YPD 2 bioscope is going to be placed at cinema halls around the country. Winners of the film-related contests will be able to get their pictures clicked while they are watching the trailer through the bioscope.

    It is said that it was the veteran actor Dharmendra‘s idea of using the bioscope. Commented the Satyakam star, "It‘s great to see that this unique old-world instrument is being used for our film‘s promotions."

    The film, directed by Sangeeth Sivan and also starring Neha Sharma, Kristina Akheeva, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever, Annu Kapoor, Sucheta Khanna is set to release on 7 June.
