    Billboard hits the right note with India debut

    MUMBAI: The world’s most recognised music media brand is striking a new chord with the launch of Billboard India, in partnership with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd., backed by media advisor Priyanka Khimani. The move marks Billboard’s entry into one of the world’s most vibrant and fast-evolving music markets.

    Set to go live in early 2026, Billboard India will bring the brand’s signature offerings to the subcontinent, from its iconic charts, lists and music awards to exclusive editorial features, interviews, merchandise and events. The platform aims to celebrate India’s sonic diversity, spotlighting both the glitz of Hindi cinema soundtracks and the pulse of the indie scene making waves across streaming platforms worldwide.

    Priyanka Khimani, the driving force behind the partnership, said the venture will provide “one unifying voice to measure and highlight the incredible growth and success of India’s music industry,” adding that Billboard India aims to be “a world-class experience powered by data, celebrating talent with pride and prestige.”

    Echoing her enthusiasm, Billboard CEO Mike Van said, “India’s music scene is one of the most dynamic and culturally rich in the world. With Billboard India, we’re thrilled to recognise its extraordinary diversity while connecting the country’s thriving music community to our global stage.”

    Based in Mumbai, Billboard India’s editorial team will be announced soon, setting the stage for a high-decibel debut that promises to amplify India’s music to the world.

    New BBC Instagram filter lets you put yourself on a billboard

    MUMBAI: The BBC has launched a new Instagram filter which lets users put themselves on a virtual BBC News billboard. If you use the filter, post a story to Instagram, and tag BBC News with the relevant language service handle (for example, BBCHindi, BBCNewsMarathi), you also stand the chance of being selected to appear on real BBC billboards across India. Selected posts will also be featured on the official Instagram account of the relevant BBC News language service.

    This initiative is part of BBC News’ ‘Make More of Your World’ campaign, relaunched in December 2020. The International broadcaster said its audience research has highlighted the optimism and ambition held by young people in India, and this initiative invites them to make more of their world through their own social media.

    BBC News marketing manager – Asia Pacific Tejash Kothari said: “This campaign is the first of its kind in India and we are proud to have come up with this unique opportunity. Audiences are at the heart of what the BBC does, and this initiative reflects its ambition to represent all those that come to us for trustworthy, impartial journalism. Through this initiative we are taking our commitment to ‘Make more of your world’ to our audiences in the comfort of their own homes. With the help of this idea we intend to engage with our audience at a deeper level and offer an honest opportunity to be part of our campaign. I invite everyone to join in and be part of our campaign.”

    The filters are available in Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil and Gujarati languages, besides Hindi as of now. Through this innovative promotion, BBC News aims to make its India IG followers part of its ‘Make More of your World’ campaign.

    NEW DELHI: Times OOH has acquired exclusive media rights over Chennai’s central and southern billboards. Located in the heart of the city at Chetpet and iconic spots at OMR, these mediums cover some of Chennai’s prime and busiest areas from Chetpet bridge to Perungudi and Sholinganallur toll plazas. The diverse kitty comprises massive unipoles, impactful gantries, toll plazas and more. These strategically placed billboards can provide uninterrupted visibility to brands and reach out to more than 1 lakh vehicles per day.

    Times OOH CFO & head of acquisitions Shekhar Narayanaswami said, “Chennai has always been a lucrative market for us and its billboards are undoubtedly amongst the most potent OOH media properties for advertisers across the country.     MUMBAI: India’s No.1 Youth Brand, MTV continues to be the frontrunner in the category and has upped the ante with India’s first ever stunt on a   billboard which was created on Saturday, 9th February. Setting a perfect parallel, the live billboard, conceptualized by MTV and executed by Zenith was placed at a thrilling height of 35 ft. in Chitrakoot in Andheri, Mumbai.

    Continuing its leadership in ground-breaking consumer-engagement initiatives, MTV provided a unique, one-of-its-kind experiential activity to the Roadies fanatics with a popular task, inspired from the fifth season of the iconic franchise. The billboard gathered a humongous crowd of fans who were pumped to be given a chance to accomplish the task live and compete head on.     TiVo launches new Guru Guide recommendations

    MUMBAI: TiVo is all set to launch the TiVo Guru Guide recommendations. TiVo’s newest feature will allow subscribers to discover exciting programming and automatically record great collections of shows, recommended by editorial experts at some of the nation’s top consumer magazines and news sources.

    Guru Guide recommendations will create a virtual television channel from each of these authorities, while leaving the ultimate selection and choice to the consumer.

    Gurus from Entertainment Weekly, Star, Sports Illustrated, Automobile, Billboard, CNET and others will offer TiVo subscribers program recommendations based on popular television categories including sports, films, music, comedies, drama and more. As an added benefit, TiVo subscribers will be able to automatically record Guru Guide recommendations via the company’s online scheduling feature.

    “TiVo is the proven brand for innovation and personalised home entertainment, making it the perfect partner to bring Star magazine to life on television. Making Star’s editorial experts available to TiVo subscribers is a unique, cutting-edge way for us to reinforce our brand awareness beyond print into a powerful electronic medium,” said American Media chief editorial director and executive vice president Bonnie Fuller.

    For TiVo, Guru Guide recommendations are the latest in a series of innovative offerings like recently announced TiVo KidZone and TiVo Mobile, and is designed to distinguish TiVo’s product and service from any other DVR in the marketplace.

    “Providing our users with a better, smarter way to enjoy their favorite television is at the core of what we do at TiVo and how we transform television viewing for consumers,” said TiVo president and CEO Tom Rogers.

    TiVo vice president and general manager programming Tara Maitra said, “By matching up TiVo technology with engaging Guru Guide recommendations from trusted sources, we are empowering TiVo subscribers with a brand new way to find, organize and view their favorite shows in an increasingly crowded television environment.”

    Each TiVo Guru Guide recommendation will offer between five and 10 programs of television per week and recommendations will be updated at least once per month to ensure that viewers always receive the freshest and most interesting content on television. Using TiVo’s online scheduling feature, subscribers will have the option of recording an entire TiVo Guru Guide selection, or they can pick individual programs from a given category based on their personal interests.

    “Music programming on television and the integration of music into shows has come a long way. Our recommendations are an eclectic assortment of programs aimed at enhancing the music discovery experience. Through Billboard’s Guru Guide recommendations, TiVo subscribers will enjoy some of the freshest new shows out there,” said Billboard Magazine group editorial director Scott McKenzie.

    “With so much sport-related content on television today, it’s easy to overlook some really great shows. Sports Illustrated’s Guru Guide will provide viewers with recommendations compiled by our editorial team which will feature an interesting mix of television programming-everything from the best match-ups of the week, to the history of rugby, to the impact of exercise on childhood obesity,” said Sports Illustrated’s website’s managing editor Paul Fichtenbaum.

    TiVo Guru Guide recommendations help viewers find engaging programming in popular content areas such as sports, music, TV, movies, beauty and fashion, technology, and urban culture. Other key partners to offer the very first TiVo Guru Guide recommendations include CNET, Automobile Magazine, and H20 (Hip Hop On Demand.)

    Additional TiVo Guru Guides categories will become available to subscribers throughout the year at no additional cost.
