    Big Magic Bihar & Jharkhand gets a new name – Big Magic Ganga

    MUMBAI: At the stroke of midnight this Independence Day, the flagship regional entertainment channel from the Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd (RBNL) stable – Big Magic Bihar & Jharkhand – will be donning a new identity as ‘Big Magic Ganga’.

     

    With this move, it further extends reach to newer geographies with its presence in the Purvanchal region (East Uttar Pradesh). The new name is accompanied with a revamp of the channel’s logo and packaging ensuring greater aesthetic appeal amongst its core audience.

     

    Commenting on the new change RBNL CEO Tarun Katial said, “Big Magic Ganga delivers to audiences an authentic, highly engaging entertainment destination which has made it the number one channel of the region. Our production set up in Patna is part of our long-term commitment to grow this regional market while creating excellent opportunities to hone skills of local talent. With this re-branding exercise, we consolidate our position, strengthen our hold, and cement our leadership position in the region. It remains our endeavor to offer audiences exceptional television engagement, and marketers a great platform to ride on.”

     

    Accelerated with a high definition drive, Big Magic Ganga has launched a 360 degree marketing campaign, which includes television, outdoor, activations, print and innovations across multiple locations.

     

    The channel also set up the first ever production unit in the city of Patna to ensure credible and veritable content, Big Magic Ganga will feature locally shot programming. The diverse content of the channel encompasses a wide slate ranging from crime, reality, music, devotion, movies to mythology.

     

    The name ‘Ganga’ was derived after a focused qualitative study, group discussions and expert interviews undertaken by research agency Dragon Fly, which tested several options for names as well as channel positioning in the market.

     

    Big Magic Ganga also recently inked distribution deals with national DTH platforms like Reliance Digital TV, Dish TV and Airtel Digital TV. Additionally, it is available on Hathway, InCable, Manthan, Digicable, GTPL, Siti Cable, Maurya, DEN and other all independent operators.

     

    The channel holds a 31 per cent market share in the Hindi belt (UP, Bihar, Jharkhand) among the regional players and will also enter Eastern UP or the Purvanchal region.

    Big Magic gets Partha Dey to head non-fiction programming

    MUMBAI: Reliance Broadcast has made a new appointment to enhance its programming content on two of its channels- Big Magic and Big Magic Bihar & Jharkhand. Partha Dey will spearhead the national channel’s non-fiction programming content as the non-fiction head and also the entire programming portfolio for its regional channel as the creative and programming head.

     

    He will be involved in driving the regional channel’s performance by building on consumer insight for developing strong content.

     

    Dey will report to Reliance Broadcast TV business COO Lavneesh Gupta. Prior to this, he was heading the creatives and operation for the Mahuaa Network for six years including the planning, designing and launch of its three channels Pragya, Mahuaa and Mahuaa Bangla. He is a documentary filmmaker and has produced and directed documentaries, features and programming software for various agencies such as the Indian Air Force, ARC RAW and OHM-Holland and Doordarshan. 

     

    Commenting on his appointment, Gupta said “Partha’s vast experience and in-depth market understanding makes him an asset to the organisation. We are happy to have him on board and are confident of him leading Big Magic Bihar & Jharkhand through its next growth phase.”

    Currently the regional channel has just one non-fiction show Hindustan Ka Big Star and is looking at getting many more in the coming months.

Exploring the vast talent from North, East, South and West India, BIG MAGIC Bihar & Jharkhand, the region’s No.1 entertainment channel along with TATA Sumo Gold launches ‘ Tata Sumo Gold Hindustan Ka BIG Star ‘ powered by Horlicks. With an aim to find the most impeccable talent from the country, the show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm exclusively on BIG MAGIC Bihar & Jharkhand!

     

    The show that started on the 14th of March, spans for a period of 10 weeks of 2 episodes each. Throughout its duration, the show promises display talent / art forms across all age groups and regions from India. After multiple rounds of screening and eliminations, the semifinalists will be shortlisted from each direction (North, East, South and west) and pitted against each other in the finale. The show concludes with a grand finale on the 18th of May 2014.

     

    Inviting participation from across the length and breadth of the country, the show is hosted by famous Bhojpuri Actor Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ and judged by the gorgeous Smirity Sinha & the renowned Surendra Pal. The three well known personalities from the Bhojpuri entertainment world lend their talent and experience to the show. The show is being marketed and promoted across various platforms with the help of Reliance Broadcast Network’s marketing muscle and also sees great synergies with 92.7 BIG FM in the Jharkhand region.
